Anyone who says right should have them and their families all drowned in cages one by one.
It's unacceptable java/android bullshit that should be eradicated from this earth.

/g/ my friend fucked up their phone keypad and I can't seem to help them. I have no idea what's wrong with it.
They can't get rid of the arrow tab above the Q and there's a little emoticon face above the comma for some reason. I've never seen it like that.
They are using the Gboard app and even if they create a new layout it's still the same.
>>58010716
Bump. I know /g/ isn't for tech support, but I honestly have never seen someone fuck up their keypad so I couldn't help them.
So let's discuss the gboard app for android, because it seems to be a piece of shit and gives my friend problems constantly.
Like, honestly, there isn't even a fucking option for QWERTY on here for English. I only get gook layout and shitty QWERTZ
this will toggle having the emotes above the comma or to the side as a separate button
Is it a good distro for beginners?
Only using it for word-processing and surfing the web.
Recommendations of other distros are also welcome
>>58010670
I mean I only want to use it for the aforementioned purposes. I haven't installed anything yet.
Some form of Ubuntu is probably the best choice for beginners. Manjaro might also be worth a look. I don't have any experience with Mageia, so I couldn't tell you if it's worth using.
Ubuntu is good for a test-drive and for work.
Arch is good for learning CLI.
Hey /g/, why can't my computer run gifs well? I never have this issue with webms or youtube videos, but for some reason my computer always runs gifs at a really low res and frame rate. I have an i5 with integrated graphics. Any help would be appreciated.
Try saving them locally and running through an image program. Running slowly could be related to slow internet speed.
Are you using chrome? gifs in chrome have been slow and fucked up for me for longer than I can remember: slow as hell and often have a weird repeat first loop as if they don't start at the beginning when you first load them, they work 100% fine in Edge.

I don't want to start a flame war but this topic is too important to be left unanswered once and for all.
Why do people still use languages like c++ and Java, when it has been proven that Rust, Haskell, Lisp, Python, and few dialectics of JavaScript, are superior answer in almost every question.
C++ is outdated, template errorhell crapmess that keeps attempting to retrofit functional features into it's gay non-gnu-approved standard.
Dennis, Haskell curry, sussman and McCarthy all rolling in their graves
Don't lie about performance. If you care about performance go write your own language in llvm binding which makes it dirt with easy. And if you can't write a compiler, how the fuck you think you gonna be a good c programmer?
How is TOX coming btw? Took few years to make, hype died, never became stable and still fundamentally broken.
Could've used webrtc to make quick JavaScript client instead, and throw encryption on top with emscripten-compiled ASM.js
Cold've pulled it off in a month. But no, /g/ has to use c. What happened to SICP and abstraction? I literally came on my copy and one of pages is fucked up but I still love the book, but I'm getting off topic.
And don't fucking use Js. At least throw react on the bitch or write a scheme to JavaScript trandcompiler and do it in scheme like real man do.
If you too pussy for trandcompiler I can send you link to my GitHub so you can borrow mine.
And don't get a rusty pooper. Btw I paid $100 for the poster because I'm not a broke ass 4chan talker, and I actually FINISH my projects and make mad money off them.
It doesn't matter what you can get to kinda work, you have to POLISH that shit

No ballz to tattoo your favorite programming language on your arm.
Is there any real /g/ENTs still around from the olden days of Yore?
Have you faggots heard of Mel? Because that's who I fucking am.
I hope you ain't using your childish visual sublime studio.
A real programmer uses magnet radiation to flip bits on hard drive to put the x86 opcodes directly in the drive.
But you aren't on my level. You aren't Mel. That's why don't waste your time with GUIs
If you're religious and feel like exploring stIGNUcious's profecies, then use Emacs.
If you wanna get shit done and get paid and put bread on table and impregnate hoes, then you use vim.
Emacs creator still lives in dorm room, just saying.
The new generation, you guys need to balance being practical and still exploring interesting subjects.
Use Python if you need to get shit done at work. Functional languages are beautiful, but you cant beat pip and amount of packages Python has.
Takes 2 days to master and can do 90% of what c++ can. Don't be cocky and write shitty c++. Be humble and write simple Python.
Metaprogramming template hell doesn't lead anywhere good in life. Trust me - I have seen what comes after abyss and it's not pretty. You'll see for yourself if you follow in my footsteps.
C++ was my first language and I have used it since age 10

Is this the future of workplace technology?
I've been working my full time programming job through a pair of Chinese 4K HMDs all week.
I have them on with headphones, connected to a desktop without any monitors, using a 4K headless dongle to emulate a 4K display. I have 8 windows open as I type this, wrapped 220 degrees around my body 0.5 meters from my face. Best of all these HMDs cost less than a good 4K monitor and unlike a 4K display they take up zero space but can be wrapped around me 360 degrees if I wanted to.
I'm truly a believer since I started doing this. I don't remember being this productive since I first discovered 4K displays.
>>58010329
It's definitely the future, that's for sure

Obviously there's a long list major issues that need to be worked out, these are early days. But I think it has potential to revolutionise logistics.

It would be nice if the botnet thing was stepped down a bit.
We're literally heading into a Half life/Elysium type dystopia.

so many issues with this
from people easily knocking down and stealing the goods, to people using birds to do so, to random birds fucking shit up bcus that's what dinosaurs do, to wind fucking shit up, to a package/drone falling on someones head, to a battery magically failing and then breaking some expensive ass car...

Yes. Build a desktop PC for gayming and buy a used ThinkPad for mobile use. You'll get much better performance in gaymes and a laptop that's not an overpriced portable furnace.
