Hey /g/, what's the best e-reader on the market?
I've currently got a 3rd-gen Kindle but would prefer something with a backlight and a device that can read epub natively so I don't have to use Calibre to butcher epubs into mobi format.
Ideally I'd like to spend <$100 if it's possible.

Just buy the cheapest thing with a backlight you can find on AliExpress

Kobo
any e-readers that don't track everything you do?

this
and kobo doesn't even spam your homescreen.
Any e-ink kobo will run koreader.
Installing this is as easy as dropping a file on the kobo, and restarting.
Koreader is open source, and actively worked on.
I recommend the Kobo Glo HD, for its' 6" screen, at 300dpi, LONG battery life, and multi-level backlight.
I use a PSP.

Unless you really need portability, why not just read on your laptop with calibre viewer?
I've found this to be the fastest way to read, esp once you tweak the fonts and layout a bit.

Any e-reader that you don't connect to the interwebz.
Or Kobo+Koreader.
Or just modify the original Kobo.

I own a paperwhite 3, it's pretty good. But if want to read epub go for a kobo aura.

Well, you could use f.lux for PC or Night Shift option on an iOS device to get rid of the blue glow. Melatonin pills can help time your sleep pretty accurately too.
