How do I make aimp work like other music players that don't insta close the track they played just now? I have to click the play button to see the soundwave and coverart again, after the song finished playing.
I remember seeing a post about a laptop that has the same specs as the new macbook but is much cheaper. It was black and was made by a company I never heard of, they also let you customize the specs, but it was a thicker laptop.
Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Post your component list, rate other anons', ask questions in general.
Always state the purpose of your PC, your budget, AND YOUR COUNTRY if outside the USA.
If you are asking for improvements, clarify whether you want to lower price or to improve specs or build quality.

Talk me out of upgrading from

with
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/6vJmNN
Might aswell throw out the non-modular PSU while I'm at it and get some nice cables.
Also might not do all in one go, but wait for later paychecks. I'll probably hold out on the CPU and GPU hoping the release of Zen, Vega and the 1080ti will give me better deals.
is mini itx a meme? I'm building a new pc and hate how heavy and how much space my current PC takes, but it's also already hard enough to build as it is with a full tower. How hard it is to build a mini atx pc? I imagine everything is cramped as fuck, and the case cables to the mobo are a fucking nightmare to plug in.
Help /g/, I'm "upgrading" (really building a new pc and rehashing some of the parts that aren't outdated from my current pc), I got a gtx 1060 and I have an FX 8350, want to switch to intel.
Will an i7 be overkill? What can I get that performs better than the FX 8350 and will go nice with the gtx 1060?
Does /g/ think there's any truth to the talk about social media platforms being addictive?
i wouldnt know, i dont use them

No.

how is building your own pc cheaper then buying a prebuilt?
I was looking at a cpu i7 3770 it is 250 bucks at the average but a refurbished or even a new pc with that cpu is 250 or less with windows 10

I'm looking for a secure, small, up-to-date and fast GNU/Linux distro for online banking and online shopping and email management. (So for everything serious and important.)
I want to run it in a VM for using a browser, Thunderbird and password manager. What browser addons/other things should I pay attention for either?
What do you think?
>>58000434
Lubuntu for distro, keepassx for password manager. As for addons get ublock origin, "privacy settings" (as in the addon), Click&Clean, httpsbydefault, dont' remember more but you are okay with that.
>>58000434
Debian
>>58000563
Thanks. KeePassX is great, I'm using it already. Can I place the password file on Dropbox if the password is really good? Like 30-40 Upper and lower letters and numbers and special characters?
Would the MEGA cloud even be safer?
>Where have you been /g/?
I like KDE5 because it's tear-free, fast, fully-featured, and has a good default theme. But I also like it because it's still technically unfinished, so every single update brings me a new feature and a ton of bug fixes. It's like getting a little present from the software devs once a month. :3
>>58000417
>it's still technically unfinished,
What did he mean by this?
I have been not liking trasparent stuff
What's the best way to handle a large amount of storage?
I'd categorize consumer storage as having <10TB, and enterprise/small business storage as having a minimum >50TB. Im in the middle
I'm somewhere in the middle of those two. Should I just throw a bunch of hdds in a box, or upgrade to server-tier equipment for better longevity.
Server-tier quality is to reduce downtime, not to increase data security.
Data security is all about accepting that there is an annual failure rate on storage devices, and having duplicate copies of the data ready to replace said data. Having a hard drive fail is common, but having two hard drives both fail at the same time containing both copies of your data is very uncommon.
Server tier shit is to minimise the time spent restoring from backup, but as someone who just hoards porn or anime or whatever, that's not a big issue.
Stick with consumer level stuff, but go for data duplicity.
I'm no expert on RAID but some system where you have two hard drives cloned per copy of data and it should be pretty robust.
Server tier equipment is an order of magnitude more expensive, by the way.
>>58000483
Thanks.
>someone who just hoards porn or anime or whatever
Yep, that's basically my use case.
>Stick with consumer level stuff, but go for data duplicity.
This is what I'm confused about.
0) Is it possible to setup a Raid with drives that have existing data. I have 10 drives.
1) How many additional drives will I need in order to have mirroring/stripping on all 10 drives?
2) In order to create the raid, do my existing drives need to all be the same size/same manufacturer?
3) Do the additional drives need to be the same size/same manufacturer?
>>58000678
0 - no
1 - a bunch, look up RAID 6
2 - same size
3 - same size

That's exactly why they're not in Python either.

Should I go for IT education or one in software dev? I'm pretty cool with doing either, I just don't know what's more in demand or allows for me to get a job afterwards. Going through a technical college as I absolutely hated uni.
Any pajeet can do IT.

If you can get a bachenlor's degree that says something fancy about computerizing, then get that.
HR loves college degrees, because they understand them. They don't understand certifications, which are essentially worthless unless you have something like a CCSP
