My local Microsoft shill tells me it's impossible to run a serious business without Windows.
Is this true?
Yes. Have you ever seen anyone do it? Protip: you haven't.
>>58433900
Depends on what type of serious they are talking about

If one makes the presumption that the modern IT is all about the internet, then you have to ask yourself
'Does Linux even have a choice in this matter ?'
A modern computing system is not one that is run from the command line - it is a system that is tied in with the internet Cloud. Just have a look at Windows 10 with Cortana and OneDrive for an example of this done right.
You need the outlook to connect in with the mass of email flowing around us every day. And then there is document collaboration - the sharing of Wordfiles and Excels between users across state boundries ! Voice over IP, cloud enabled 'Surface' computing, and voice command interfaces - all tied together with .NET and the OneDrive.
The driving force behind this internet is the Microsoft Sharepoint Server - a central peice of systems software which connects all these end points together, in a synergistic kaleidoscope that achieves both balance and symmetry.
The smart Vendors know that in order to get ahead in the future IT, that means integrating with the Cloud.
Linux has nothing on the Cloud.
Don't use FreeBSD. Bug reports over five years old that still affect people aren't fixed. They don't even reply to your bug reports, either.
The default install needs tons of nonobvious configuration afterwards, too.
Use OpenBSD.

N-no thank you.

>Don't use BSD. Bug reports over five years old that still affect people aren't fixed. They don't even reply to your bug reports, either. The default install needs tons of nonobvious configuration afterwards, and there is almost no software for it
>Use Linux (or Windows if you must game)
OP pls, give us some examples.

Hello,
Do you guys use any glasses while working on your PC? I assume most of you spend more than 2h on your PC, but so do I. And that's way I think I should start protecting my priceless eyes, right?
I rode something about LED screens, and there was said that it emits some blue light which is not that good for our eyes health.
So, what should I keep my eye (heh) on when buying PC glasses?
Do you have any recommendations?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
I look at my monitor through gunnars and a cloud of grape vape, bro

PS.
I don't have any visions defect, my eyes work pretty much cool. So its all about prevention and to minimalize the side effects of long-term PC using.

which is better: putting your PC in sleep mode or shutting it down overnight?
pic unrelated
Which is better? I'm not sure. But I prefer to shut it off.
>>58478570
sleep mode, once you manage to disable everything that randomly wakes it up.
>>58478570
Leave it on all night downloading Chinese girl cartoons.
How accurate is this? There needs to be an end all be all, but if this IS that, I can accept it.
>>58478514
what do you mean be all end all
headphones, even if you thousands of dollars, usually have 1 compromise in sound quality.
you will get one that has good mids, highs, and lows, on low end headphones, you get one, on higher end (150$+) you get 2 or one really good one.
What you are really looking for, more often then not, is does the presence of bass fuck up the mods and highs? or the presence of mids fuck up the highs.
speakers do this by one speaker for each range, but headphones are generally one diaphragm, and if it has more then one, its usually shit.
You want my opinion? I live with someone who has headphone autism, so I have heard the entire range from 5$ gets you 3 different headphones, to 1000$ hard to drive but damn they are nice soundin.
he swears by his AKG Pro Audio K702
I personally had a pair of sennheiser 555, then got a pair of 598's when I learned they fixed the cracking problem.
The headphones are literally on par with each other but hpg has autism over 'the veil'
I'm still able to hear frequencies age should have taken from me, if there is a veil, it's so slight and only really visible in frequency response charts.
Personally don't like akg style headband but don't like sennheisers material choice either, However, I do like the can size of the sennheiser FAR more over almost every pair of headphones he has because my ears never touch the sides, an issue most of his headphones have.
for 5$ the best you will get are monks, they have next to no bass, but god damn do they got mids and highs
for around 10$ you can get iems to see if you like the style, i have kz zs3's and they are pretty damn good, these are likely the best bang for buck style you can get as around 100-200$ will likely shit on headphones 2-4 times the price and these can get VERY good bass.

I have Sennheiser Urbanite. It's not an argument.

Best video player for 4K / HEVC/H.265 media?
Just build a small PC and put 1080 on it
>>58477776
I hurd newer version of FireTv can do 4k h265 on hardware, and you can side-load XBMC on it
>>58477829
You don't need a 1080 for 4k playback. Don't even need a discrete GPU if you have a decent CPU.
