Is Linux really more secure than Windows? According to this Linux has 10 times more vulnerabilities than all of Microsoft's products. Also how come every time they compare Windows and Linux they compare the entire operating system called Windows vs just the Linux kernel? That sounds really unfair and unprofessional.

Are there any tablets/android handhelds out there that can handle PS2 emulation?

I'm getting fed up of modern consoles and I'm looking for a good emulator instead.

I've heard pic related might be good, but I'm on the fence.

ITT: we explain algorithms

I'll start with Seam Carving (or the Path of Least Resistance or Brutal Pixel Genocide, as the authors should have called it instead):

Suppose you'd want to resize an image without stretching important details, such as persons or other distinct objects.
The basic approach is to find a line of least important pixels, i.e. that isn't adjacent or part of the objects and remove that.
Repeat this until your image has your targeted size and you are done. Those line have to consist of 6-connected pixels, like
\|/
p
/|\

So how does one detect the least important line in an image?
Step 1: calculate the "energy" of the image
Step 2: find the least valuable path in the energy image
(to be continued)

1. The paper is kind of vague what can be used as "energy function". Often, it is some kind of edge detection. Depending on your requirements, some poor mans version of a sobel filter matrix - combined horizontal and vertical may suffice. In that case, you may want to shift the values, so 0 means no edge at all, because sobel usually stores edge directions.
2. Similary, there are multiple possible ways of finding the path.
One simple solution is using an iteration algorith that is "dynamic programming" (should have been called sequential optimization instead: https://www.biostars.org/p/17908/):
Suppose you want to shrink the image horizontally - thus removing a vertical line - you iterate over the rows, beginning from the second row.
For every pixel you check which one of the three pixel above has the smallest energy value. You then add that to the actual pixels energy value.
At the end of the process, the pixel with the smallest value in the last row marks the line you want to remove. When removing, you can either trace back the path or store the path as channel component in the first place.

Bonus: Not only can you remove lines, you can interpolate new ones to enlarge an image.
And you can have an additional layer with weights, which you can draw on to mark objects to preserve or remove, should the energy function fail.

chances are I missed something or was too vague about some details, so feel free to ask
>>
>>58472155
>>58472162
>>58472174
I almost forgot: Before edge detection, you most likely want to turn your image black and white and gaussian blur it to remove stray pixels.

I have no idea how to use CrystalDisk nor i have any clue about the details of HDDs. What does this means? Is my HDD FUBAR? After leaving my PC turned on all night SOMETIMES i return to find that the BIOS lost connection to the HDD, however after turning off, and removing and reinserting the HDD cables the issue is fixed, making me think that the issue was just the cable that goes from the MOBO to the HDD. Is that the issue? or is my HDD seriously fucked up?

What are good paying jobs in computer related field? I'm going to college in about 7 months and until then I'm working in a dead-end factory job, drilling holes into wires 8 hours per day and I never want to make the same mistake or work this job again ever in my entire life.

I'm willing to do/study anything at this point in my life. There is no way I'm ever doing anything as nearly as shitty as what I'm doing now in my life.

I'm currently learning C#, but am not sure where to go from here on.

I have a Dell Inspiron 5558 with i3-5005u, GT 920M and 4GB ram. Would it worth an upgrade to 8GB RAM? It runs pretty shitty, the hard disk (5400rpm) being the major bottleneck but I won't invest in a SSD with this low tier configuration. Would I see an improvement with 8GB RAM? I was playing AoE 3 on LAN with a friend and the game started lagging really bad towards the end (I was the host), would ram solve this problem? Even exploring through windows 10 is laggy. Is an SSD even worth thinking about?

>>
>>58471595
No. SSDs are a meme, don't buy one. 5400RPM is slow but more than enough. Upgrade to a 7200RPM laptop drive and you should be just fine. RAM can't be upgraded on that machine to 8GB anyway, it's a limit from the 920M voltage regulations.
