Patents - Good or bad?
Patents were created to encourage innovation but novadays these are used mainly as weapons in the corporate world. Should we change how the patent system works?
Discussion about copyrights is welcome too.

>Patents - Good or bad?
Both.
Now fuck off.
MURRICA, FUCK YEAH
Patents are bad, they stifle progress and innovation.
>B-but people wouldn't innovate if they couldn't make money off it.
Yes, they would. Only lazy NEETs without motivation believe that people are motivated by profit. Example, Salke, the inventor of the polio vaccine could have patented it but he didn't and now we have eradicated polio.
Only Jews and those cucked by Jews believe patents are good.

>"The innovation the industry talks about so much is bullshit," he said. "Anybody can innovate. Don't do this big 'think different'... screw that. It's meaningless. Ninety-nine per cent of it is get the work done."

Linus is obviously a very gifted developer and project lead, but his life's work is a monolithic kernel for *nix clones. Its design is firmly rooted in 1970s state of the art. I wouldn't trust his opinion about innovation one way or another.
>>58969767
"innovation" and doing things "different" is reinventing the wheel 90% of the times. Just look at macOS.
I just got my second screen, any /g/ tips for using two screens? Any useful software/utilities that I should look up?

can you a get job knowing just python? pic related.
>>58969473
No, if you only know Python you cant program anyway
>>58969477

>>58969481
Sure.
"No!".
Why does Legacy Captcha keep making me type CALLE over and over, to the point where I have, multiple times, gotten pic related, or CALLE X or Y CALLE one after the other after the other?
I get that it's Spanish for street and Google is using the legacy version of ReCaptcha to label Google Maps nowadays, but it's still far more common than any other word ever, to an insane degree- while words like STREET, AVENUE, ROAD, ect. don't show up nearly as often.
I don't get it.
>>58969405
Calle avenida is the most common for me.
Why don't you write a captcha solver?
>>58969471
...Because I'm too lazy/not lazy enough to write code so I don't have to type a single two-word code every time I want to post on 4chan.
Besides, that's not the question. The question is why CALLE is showing up so often.

So about the same amount of people that always used them.

What would happen if /g/ had its own github account? Could we very well take over the world with free and open source software?
What types of projects would you choose to work on, /g/?
>>58968690
the entire git repository would be
readme.txt linking a self hosted repository and an essay about why github hates freedom
smug anime faces
pictures of richards stallman with "thanks for the server space lmao" imagemagicked over them
You know you can just MAKE a github account. It's not like you need approval from a committee.
Alright let's do this shit
Taking requests for username, password, and email addresses (will post on a text file in pastebin)
/g/entlemen I have a problem. My motherboard went tits up and I need to RMA it. I've never RMA'ed a mobo before. Besides the amount of time its going to take, what should I expect and is there anything to keep in mind?
I've been told to take a lot of photos of the board before sending it off. Also important, what is the best way to remove the CPU and CPU fan? I have an i5 6600k and Hyper 212 Evo cooler. Are there any good videos to recommend how to safely remove and store those?
Pic related. Asus Z170-A.
Install Gentoo before you send it back.

Basically unlimited battery life on a smaller and more durable device, it can fit in my pocket, and I can do basically all the things you do on your laptop.

How to get free GBs of capacity on Dropbox in 2017?
The days of throwing $5 at fiverr for 20GB free are over
There are hundreds of sites online that offer free storage, Google Drive still offers 15GB per account so just make a bunch of accounts. Your ISP probably offers you free space you're not even using, dozens upon dozens of places you can dump shit without effort.
LEARN SHIT, STUPID
>>58968564
without going into the details, dropbox is the easiest solution for the project i'm working on..
I already have plenty of online storage other places
