>that feel when GNU+Linux can instantly detect any shit USB/PCI/Firewire/ExpressCard/Serial device made a billion years ago and run it perfectly with generic drivers without having to download anything it from some dead manufacturer site or whatever fucking incompatible buggy drivers Windows ships from its update service
What a time to be alive.

I know, my Baofeng with chinkshit USB cable on GNU@Linux was plug and play, I had to summon someone's succubus mom to get it working on Windows 10.

MAKI!
I watched all of love live season 1 and maki has a grand total of 5 minutes of screen time and 14 lines of dialog.

It's the same feel that you get when you realize simply moving your body into a certain position at a certain time is illegal. Like the action of punching a person is basically illegal and it's literally just you moving your arm.

When are you going to admit JPG is the perfect image format and cannot be improved?

How many programming languages do you know? Is it worth it to know more than a few of the top-used ones such as Java, C++, Python, etc?
>>58975385
THICC
>>58975385
I'm tired this shit.
You need to learn how to program conceptually, learn about algorithm design and mathematics. If the language sentax is what you're major concern is, then you're doing it wrong.
You can learn all them. I'm going to start hiring mathematicians and teaching them the syntax if this "What language is worth it" meme continues. Fucking fuck. Just read.

this is iskra on ig btw.
this pic would be better if she had some makeup to cover up those face blemishes. luckily we have photoshop to smooth it out

What do you use?
I've been using pic related for the past 4 years.
Only had to use warranty once when the official update bricked it, pretty happy with it even though it has become a bit slow.
I was thinking about getting a custom Rom for it but apparently it's not that popular.
Is there a way to upgrade the android version from 2.x to something better?

Post comfy 00s tech please.
Purchased in '06, seen me through 5 years of college, earned more than twice its price by printing for other people at dorm. Still functional.

>decide to quit my job as a systems analyst
>strike up a brilliant idea
>apply for an array of low level office work that requires excel and other very boring stuff that involves organisation, sorting, appointment creation etc, general boring office tasks
>write up programs in weekends which do the work of 100 employees in a month in less than a day with generally 95-99% accuracy
>go to the ceo office of each company
>offer huge figure to each one for my product (already sorted out all the licensing issues and contacted my lawyer etc.)
>they realize the huge savings cost they could make
>offered millions of dollars from all of these different companies
>sell my shit to them and even get higher offers by telling them i have other interested buyers
>companies lay off hundreds of staff whilst i walk home a millionaire
Why haven't you done this yet, /g/? Don't you realize there are literally thousands of companies which rely on humans to do tasks an easily programmable computer application could do in less time with more accuracy? Why aren't you taking advantage of this?
>>58973956
You see the issue with this method is that it can be viewed as somewhat psychopathic as you are making people lose their jobs for your own monetary gain (money) basically your method is effective but down right unethical

Best gnu/linux distro that "just werks"?
I need to put it on my grandparent's old XP machine they refuse to upgrade, and has grinded to a halt

This does not exist!
I always recommend xubuntu, although mint might be another good choice
>using linux
>that just werks
You're missing the whole point of Linux.

What does /G/ think about moderate sized PC's without the standard high capacity hard drives?
With the falling prices of M.2, and 2.5 inch SSD's; Do you guys think this is era that kills off the mechanical hard drive...? Especially since we can fit multiple terabytes on one M.2 SSD now...?
(In my personal build, I have a 240GB M.2 SSD, and a 500 GB 2.5 inch SSD)
>>58973272
I am sure the mechanical hard drive will die off within the next 20 - 30 years, but what do you mean by a moderate sized PC? With the cost per gigabyte with normal HDD's why would you not stick a couple of terabytes in a Mid ATX tower PC?
>>58973345
I see what you mean.
My pc is a Full ATX tower, but I hate the way Hard drives, and disk drives look. I would much rather have discreet and hide-able SSD's.
>>58973272
Long term reliability is still a big issue for SSD. Traditional magnetic HDD will function pretty much perfectly until the motor starts to fail, which on some models can be decades. High capacity SSD have a limit on the total number of writes and also a limit on length of time they can hold data while completely powered off.
For most consumers this isn't an issue, but until SSD move away from flash memory onto something else with better durability and data retention, they'll still be a place for HDD.
What did Firefox mean by this?
