My precious mother enjoys accidentally printing 50 pages random pdfs she's reading and doesn't need them. Is there anyway I can set up the printer so you have to walk over to the printer to confirm you want to print something? It's a brother mfc-j8700w
>>58965490
There's no way to print something without having to click additional confirmation as fat as I know. You should really just train your mother better.
Don't leave paper in the tray
>>58965490
if there is it's configured on the printer, we do this with MFPs at work but the smallest printer I've seen this feature on was small office MFP/fax combos tied in to LDAP mailboxes or proprietary stuff like uniflow.
However, given that a print system on a PC usually has a pause function, I wonder what would happen if you just wrote a cron job or a windows scheduled task to pause the spooler every 30 seconds and made her manually unpause individual jobs to actually print them.
How does it feel that IT will probably be one of the first industries to get automated because there is no organizations to protect worker rights?
The bus driver will still get a job sitting in the automated bus but you IT fags will all be out of a job.
>>58965337
>no organizations to protect worker rights?
I believe that WILL change. For instance in the 1800s any old fool would raise a building and be legal. Now it's fucking illegal to build a building without proper licences and a whole pipelines of experts and legal documents.
BUT, it will happen much later.
Think like 2040+.

Did you drop out of CS or something?
>>58965337
>no organizations to protect worker rights?
lol organizations and unions are irrelevant when the workers are no longer needed.
>be me
>professional programmer
>know c, c++, java, javascript, python etc
>decide to quit my job as a systems analyst
>strike up a brilliant idea
>apply for an array of low level office work that requires excel and other very boring stuff that involves organisation, sorting, appointment creation etc, general boring office tasks
>write up programs in weekends which do the work of 100 employees in a month in less than a day with generally 95-99% accuracy
>go to the ceo office of each company
>offer huge figure to each one for my product (already sorted out all the licensing issues and contacted my lawyer etc.)
>they realize the huge savings cost they could make
>offered millions of dollars from all of these different companies
>sell my shit to them and even get higher offers by telling them i have other interested buyers
>companies lay off hundreds of staff whilst i walk home a millionaire
Why haven't you done this yet, /g/? Don't you realize there are literally thousands of companies which rely on humans to do tasks an easily programmable computer application could do in less time with more accuracy? Why aren't you taking advantage of this?

just got given the new home hub router now router restarts everyday at 1am on the dot, anyway to change when the update happens? old router used to update at like 5am, much better
>Router updating
>>58965272
Yes, Looking to change the time this happens at.
>router reboots due to new firmware every night
That's.....suspicious
I'd assume you can control it somewhere in the router's control panel. If not what the fuck did you buy?
Okay my fellow whitehats/black hats. I am in need of Assistance.
So i've had a couple of countries try and intrude into my pc, Not a problem. I changed my mac id got a new ip. DAMN the same ip's and countries and still fucking hitting me...I was like "hmm" What do i do?
i use windows because i am a gamer, Macintosh is no fucking safer, sure you won't get a virus or anything. but your ISP can sure as fuck break into your shit.
I can use a linux distro, but the question is will my isp spy on me and shit?
Do i possibly have hardware malware? South korea, china are the main targeters. I live in NYC.
My motherboard is a gigabyte and they are in taiwan, going through my logs i caught 1 attempt from taiwan...conincidence? Who the fuck knows.
I need some insight from the experts here, I am just trying to keep my privacy. It's sad i have to fucking quit gaming. I shelled out big bucks for a nice gfx card and processor.
Are linux notebooks even trustable, Will they fucking pre-root the book if they send it to me.
>>58965239
Quit being paranoid. Almost all modern operating systems have decent enough security where they can't be remotely exploited without you doing anything. and as far as random countries trying to intrude, its not uncommon for hordes of bots to try to login to random services with default usernames/passwords as long as your router has the proper settings these bots are not an issue.
>>58965239
This is a sad attempt at a copypasta.
>>58965239
Usually bots attack specific ISP's IP ranges to exploit bugs in the modems that the ISP provides you. It's probably just one of their bots trying to hit you again in the IP chain. Lots of times this is because the modems have remote access enabled and the default passwords haven't been changed, this allows attackers to login and upload modified firmware to your modem.
To locate malware on your PC just learn to use netsat and see what outgoing connections are occurring. If you see anything suspicious just look up the executable name and see if you can get any info on it.
Your ISP can only break into your shit if you are running their firmware, and they have a backdoor. And even then, they would only have access to your modem, not your computer. They most definitely "spy" on you, since all of your traffic is tunneled through their services.
>My motherboard is a gigabyte and they are in taiwan
Everything is made in Taiwan
So what NEW technologies is AMD actually creating?
Seems to me like they're just copying Intel to be quite honest.
>Sent via PC running Intel's 7th Generation Kaby Lake Core i7 7700K 4.5GHz
>>58965237
Intel has just been copying IBM

For around £700 what's the best laptop I can get? I'm a student so a desktop is not the best choice for me atm. I need something with a good screen, comfortable keyboard and maybe able to play the occasional game, was looking at this because the specs look fantastic for the money, thoughts?

How does Apple keep doing it? These things are awesome?
>>58965171
They're only awesome if Apple puts its name on it. Otherwise it looks like just another shitty Chinese that you can buy on Ebay.
>>58965322
There are very few truly wireless buds and none that match this feature set. This is their best engineering in years. Would never buy for plenty of reasons but you're an absolute moron if you think this is some generic product.
>>58965360
ce grad here. Can confirm. Apple created a high quality wireless protocol called bluetooth that transmits music over short distances of air. Its simply elegant and the buds showcase the kind of world class design that make apple #1 in the world.

So, whenever i open a .swf file from my hdd with chrome it just tries to re-download it, same thing happens when i go to >>>/f/ to check whats on there, anyone know how to fix?
>>58965128
Similar problem here. I have suffered it for months. I use firefox. Whenever someone links me a flash from /f/ or if i try to open one i have saved, firefox will attempt to redownload. I can however view a flash embedded on the main /f/ page with no issue.

Whenever i open it, it goes and tries to download it. This wasnt the case yesterday and only started happening today

/G/uys, I want to buy a dashcam, but with so many out there I'm not sure what's good.
I don't trust most reviews because I assume some or most of them are paid for.
Any advice? Money is not an issue, so have at it.
A119S is the defacto one, and I love mine for what it's worth.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N1NX4SM
The other one that I was looking at (but didn't personally want to spend the money on) is the BlackVue DR650, which is nice because it's dual channel so you get a rear facing camera as well.
https://www.amazon.com/BlackVue-DR650S-2CH-Recorder-Included-support/dp/B01H7WJEDM
I haven't used the BlackVue at all, it just looks very nice. The A119 is cheap but reliable, I hardwired it into my Miata, it turns on when the car turns on, runs without any issues, and it's capacitor backed instead of battery, so it should be more reliable in hot weather.
I got a G1W-CB off of gearbest.com for pretty cheap. You gotta watch out for fakes, but the gearbest ones are legit. The shipping usually takes over a month though.
GW1-C. Beware of knockoffs, you have to pay at least $40.
Had mine for 8 months now, been through cold and hot. Don't cheap out on the microsd card, that is good for any cam you buy. Cam was fine but my chink microsd card didn't make it more than a couple of months. Make sure to check if you have a flashing red light, mine is reflected perfectly in my rearview back window glass if I look really hard. Put in a sandisk and it's been fine ever since.
Not a lot of scammers or accidents around here, it's more of peace of mind for me since I love my S2000 and it would be my way to get back if someone tried to lie.
Got a thinkpad t430 a few days ago with the idea of wanting to work on some kind of project. I don't have anything particular in mind. I don't know any languages but have kali linux installed.
Any place where I can learn to use linux and kali for free?
>>58965106
Forgot to mention, basic networking tutorials and similar stuff is appreciated

All depends on the interface. Serial bus is pretty easy and then again depends on how the serial interface works. they are all different.
>>58964707
Yes, everything is in a known place with a safety zone around it so there is no detection required.
>>58968320
It depends on how it would avoid singularities.
