Microkernel hatred is a peculiar phenomenon. Sheltered users who have never had any background in much beyond Windows and some flavor of free monolithic Unix, will, despite a general apathy or ignorance in the relevant subjects, have strong opinions on the allegedly dreadful performance and impracticality of “microkernels,” however they define the term (and we shall see that a lot of people have some baffling impressions of what a microkernel is supposed to be).

Microkernel rules, it rules just what it has to rule... instead of ruling everything ... I mean...

So I'm gonna put a second fan on my 212 Evo and I wanna know if I should have both fans pulling air away or have one fan pushing away and one pushing air through it to the other and up out of my top fan as well.
Any suggestions?
Also does it matter if I use those pads it comes with at all? Does it matter if the fan screw is touching the heatsink at all?
Should have just bought a cooler that isn't shit instead of spending more on 1c lower temps.
Adding another identical fan to the heatsink would just increase the force the air is moved, it won't increase air flow. If the air flow is moving throught the heatsink with ease then adding an extra fan to the heatsink won't help reduce the temprature of the CPU at all, probably
Push pull, its a thing, google it.

Unfortunately I can't drag around a laptop 24/7 at work, so I have to make do with a phone. Plus I have unlimited data so why not take advantage of it?
Haven't seen one of these threads in a while
>post your phone history
>which phone was the best?
>which was the worst?
So far the one I've liked the most is the Oneplus One. It truly was the 2014 flagship killer, with specs rivalling those of phones twice the price, and even now it still holds together incredibly well. I really feel no need to upgrade from it in the foreseeable future.
Close second is the original Moto /g/. It was the phone that showed people that just because a phone's cheap doesn't mean it has to be shit. Stock android, great battery life and felt so nice to hold in your hand.
Worst one is between Galaxy S3 and the Nokia 5530XM. Galaxy S3-era Touchwiz was just absolute shit, I did put Cyanogenmod on it to fix it but battery life and camera quality took quite a a hit. Also the phone was so ugly with its rounded shape and cheap looking plastic. The 5530XM had ok specs for the time but the OS just simply never was meant to be used on a touchscreen, so it wasn't a great experience to use at all.

I lost the 5230 in the snow during a mountain tour, then three years later a guy sends me an e-mail that he picked it up in the mountains and found my address on the SD card. That's three years' worth of being repeatedly soaked, frozen, thawed, rinse, repeat. I recharged and it fucking worked flawlessly, except the sound of the speakers was a bit scratchy and the display had some minor discoloration on the edges.

Microsoft "support"
It's no longer delayed, they skipped it entirely. Microsoft updated their blog saying they include the february update into the march patch. It's quite ridiculous to be honest and I'm surprised that no one on /g/ is talking about this.

Any reason at all for me to enable the iGPU in the BIOS?
Got a GTX 780 and an i7 3770K with the HD 4000.
No. If anything I remember that causing instability with some systems in the past.
I have a question about this
Assume I disable the iGPU. If suddenly my dedicated GPU dies, can I actually boot in the BIOS and will it make any output to my monitor to reenable it again or am I screwed?
>>58972131
I assume so long as the GPU isn't connected in the PCI-E slot, it'll revert to the iGPU.

Have you guys ever used a real UNIX terminal? The one with the big ass keyboards and weird layouts?
If so for what?
Why does the size of keyboard matter?
www.sdf.org

I've always wanted to set one up somewhere in the house for my server
>>58971177
SDF's the shit. Just got an email a few days ago from Living Computer Museum, I've now got ssh access to a PDP-11/70 running Unix v7 and a VAX-11/785 running OpenVMS 7.3
In the 90s pretty much every library had a big unix system in a the back with serial over cat5 connected to monochrome terminals. I used to work for a manufacturing company that still used these until about 2010.
Many many doctors offices used these until late 2000s.
looking to buy an e-reader because I'm constantly travelling for work and it annoys me to have to throw or give away a book every time I buy one.
What are my best bets? I know they are all quite cheap now, but I've also read there are differences in the stores. Which is better for variety of books, kindle or nooks?
Kindles and Kobos probably have the best stores, but you can easily pirate most books.
Probably Kindle, but what's the value of variety in the era of self-publishing? You need access to worthwhile titles, not a garden where 99% of the flowers smell of feces. There are countless ways to get at the stuff you're likely to want.
I say Kindle anyway because your local library system might do e-book loans through them.
I bought a Kobo Aura One a month or is ago. It's pretty comfy tbhwyfamalam. Has integrated f.lux, whether a meme or not, feels good to me. Also ipx8. Has overdrive integrated into the system itself, so you can rent ebooks from library without having to plug into a computer.
Kindles seem fine, however if you're ever outside the USA, nothing works.
Also, kobo accepts more formats, so you can buy books from wherever, if that's your thing. With Kindles , you're stuck with mobi.
However, no matter what you chose, remember that ebooks can't into pdf for shit. So, textbooks and mangos won't work. Couldn't care less about mangos, but it would've been useful for school books on the go, so there's that to consider.
