We've already seen too many threads about fizzbuzz. Let's see if /g/ is able to come up with the code to implement the Atbash cipher:

>Atbash is a mono-alphabetic substitution cipher originally used to encode the Hebrew alphabet.
>It works by substituting the first letter of an alphabet for the last letter, the second letter for the second to last and so on, effectively reversing the alphabet.

You can use any programming language you want. You have 10 minutes.

>>

alphabet = ["a","b","c","d","e","f","g","h","i","j","k","l","m","n","o","p", "q","r","s","t","u","v","w","x","y","z"]

word = input("Enter a word: ")
new_word = []

for letter in word:
if letter.lower() in alphabet:
old_letter = letter.lower()
position = alphabet.index(old_letter)
new_letter = alphabet[(25 - position)]
new_word.append(new_letter)
else:
new_word.append(letter)
new = "".join(new_word)
print(new)

Is this bait?

In Ruby it's:
"atbash this cool string".reverse

And if you want to make it more elaborated, you can do this:

def atbash me
puts me.chars.map {|i| (i >= 'a' && i <= 'z') ? (219 - i.ord).chr : i}.join
end

atbash "abc xyz"

Am I hired?
>>
>>59644215
The second solution is correct.
The first one is not because it reverses the string itself, it doesn't reverse the alphabet

I'm kinda high, but when the fuck are we going to get out of this here terabyte slump we're in, /g/?

Why do I still have to spend $500-$1000 for enough storage space for my NAS full of porn, Jackie Chan movies and cartoons?

I see the highest capacity drive currently is a 16TB drive by Samsung: https://petapixel.com/2015/08/15/samsung-16tb-ssd-is-the-worlds-largest-hard-drive/ because google said it was.

16TB?

That it?

Guys, what are we doing? We need to break the video storage ceiling like we did the music one.

So does my brother in law.

You don't need to keep 40GB Blueray movies though.

Hey /g/, I have a friend of mine who fell for the meme where electronics cause cancer. Most recently, I heard from him that routers apparently send off "EMP waves which harm your body and brain and give you cancer over time".

I'm not asking for a personal army or anything, just maybe some credible sources that disprove that whole thing.

Also tech illiterate people/superstitions thread

The only EMP waves that cause harm are those of high tension lines or those near (less than 1km) from a telecom tower.

Regarding wireless routers
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28092407
>No conclusive evidence was found for induced embryonic mortality or malformations by exposure to the used EMFs, or for effects on the other measured parameters.
>Estimated differences between treatment groups were always small and the effect of treatment was not significant.
>In a statistical model that ignored possible interaction between rounds and exposure units, some of the many pairwise comparisons of exposed versus control had P-values lower than 0.05, but were not significant after correction for multiple testing

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27835750
>CONCLUSIONS: A causal factor, of which mobile phone use (and possibly other wireless equipment) is in agreement with the hypothesized temporal association, is related to an increased risk of developing malignant neoplasms in the temporal lobe.

Stop installing microsoft products 'on the metal'. The only way to prevent this. You can leave a virtual instance of windows running all night and it still works ok the next day. I did this once and expected to have to restart it to use. It ran fine. Pretty funny.

Is this the ultimate jew """policy""" made by a company? I don't even get 256kbps, I get 30 and I got a warning for using around 200MB in 2 days, despite the fact they say it has to do with the "flow" and usage and not the amount of data I use.
Might change to Three. Would pay more and need to be on a 12 month contract, but at least I know it's truly unlimited, has full LTE coverage and free roaming in selected countries.

Giffgaff is trash. Even before they owned up to this policy they were traffic shaping and throttling, all the way from their tiered plans right up to the supposedly unlimited plans.

I moved to Three, coverage not quite as good but close, and speeds are outrageously high - 4G is faster than my home fibre broadband (40MB+). Made me so angry that I had stuck with giffgaff and their shitty speeds for so long
