What is the best OS for my tech illiterate grandpa? Pic related. He has been using Windows 7 for years, and always manages to get his system infected with all kinds of malicious shit. I explained him that he will not need an antivirus and he is kind of excited but also a bit skeptical. Is Zorin the way to go? Never used it but heard it was stable and looks like a nearly perfect Win7 clone.
install macOS

an iPad
but if you really think grandpa wants a linux computer, put Linux Mint Cinnamon on it.
>>59837545
Gave that a thought, too but didn't Mint have some serious security issues? Also, Cinnamon is a buggy piece of shit. Is Mint Xfce any good?
Yo /g/ this shit happened to my nexus 6p it was a great phone but now looking for a better replacement. Have any goood recommendations? I am definitly up for another huawei I really loved this phone. No samshit please they have become shit since the S2 release.

Fixing neighbor's computer, she's like, sixty and doesn't know jack about computers, it got loaded with bloatware and I want to make sure I'm not crawling up this thing's asshole again in a few months.
I was going to install NOD32 but again, old lady that doesn't know shit about computers. What antimalware tool is the most idiot-proof?

Palm OS is welcomed
I need a good Android weather widget. AccuWeather has gotten awfully buggy between this and the prior versions.
I was terribly bored and booted into my Windows installation to see if any of the shell replacements I remember from years ago still work. Lo and behold, there's a 64-bit version of BBLean that works great. So, Windows Shell thread. Share whatchugot. Pic related.
you have to go back
I used LiteStep for Windows way back. I think this was like '98 or '99. I remember editing that fucking config file trying to get everything perfect. Desktop ricing has come a long way since then, especially in Linux.
How did you make your Windows 7 look like this?
https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/04/how-amazon-go-probably-makes-just-walk-out-groceries-a-reality/
The botnet has reached our grocery stores.
Aren't stores that accepted credit cards or rewards programs just as much a botnet?
grocery store layouts are already designed to entice customers into buying other crap, while they go buy bread, milk, etc.
>>59837086
what does that have to do with this?
Why is WiFi so much slower for web browsing than a wired connection, even when the numbers don't make sense?
I can bring my laptop a foot away from my 802.11n router, get maximum signal strength and it's still slower going than the desktop plugged into that same router. Plus my speed at the damn modem itself is half of what 802.11g could support, let alone n.
If the speed and signal are there, what the hell?
if the router is high-end (for its time that is) then the bottleneck could be the wireless NIC in your laptop
I would suggest getting a wireless ac router and usb wifi dongle for your laptop to go with it
>>59837031
Light speed has a limit anon.
>>59837031
define "slower"
also, latency is a thing. Latency increases with interference. Since you are talking about g and n speeds, you are talking about 2.4GHz which has shitloads of interference. Also, G and N speeds like 54Mbit are "theoretical" speeds and not likely acheiveable in the real the world.
Like >>59837076 said, there could be some goofy thing going on between your NIC and the router, especially for an N connection. They put out N routers and NICs for several years, even though the N spec wasnt technically finalized. Several manufactures added some features(many of the proprietary) to drive sales, Dlink did a lot of this. Sometimes that can cause issues with certain hardware combinations.

Never bought one, as they look like super low quality chink shit.
Seems like a good thing for a standing desk or media center, if only it was wireless...

What's the easiest way to buy bitcoins isntantly online these days? Since circle stopped doing it, the only thing left is coinbase, but their verification process sucks absolute dick.
>>59836559
Glad circle got shot down, lost so much btc betting on nitrogen sports, and now i cba to find another way to get btc
>>59836559
The only service I managed to use without handing over endless documents and waiting for ever was Coinmama. The fee is rather high however you can buy up to $150 worth with just your name. It's not much, but it's enough to buy drugs or a 4chan pass.
>>59836808
what do they charge?

What is this, 2001? Youtube serves up Opus and AAC which pretty much anything can play. Just download with youtube-dl. Or there's probably a website out there somewhere that will give you the m4a.

How does /g/ hide it's porn?
A folder that is easy to find labeled pron, with less hardcore images, while the abyss of everything else is so deeply hidden nobody will ever find it?
