I've been using laptops and plan to build a PC in the future, but I'm still learning. I needed a right away PC for work, since my laptop is dying. I just got it yesterday and it will not work with my new monitor. I've spent several hours reseating the ram, reseating the video card, made sure everything was connected, since it came with some of the cables unplugged. It will not display a signal with the monitor. I can connect the monitor to my laptop and to my roommate's laptop and just fine. It's the PC that's the problem.
Please help. I've spent all afternoon and evening, all morning today on this hunk of junk and ended up wasting work hours trying to get this to work. What else can I do?
Start by booting without the video card and seeing if you can get a display from the on-board video that way.
>>59842644
The problem is the video card removes the HDMI and DVI slot. Sorry, I'm still pretty new to all of this still and don't know what you mean by the on-board video.
>>59842695
Well, if you don't know what you're doing, you definitely shouldn't have been hooking up cables in there.
The motherboard assuredly has a display out of some sort. Use it. It may or may not be necessary to remove the video card in order to do so, as some systems will automatically disable the integrated video if a dedicated card is detected. If you can get a display working this way, you can try looking for drivers for the video card. On the other hand, the card may be shot.
Is vlc even worth it anymore?
mpv is better
foobar can do more and does a better job at it
vlc is nothing now.
potplayer is best player

>potplayer
Literally what?
>>59842176
Sure it's worth it. MPlayerX is broken, so there is literally no other high-quality player.
So did the Ryzen deliver? Is it worth getting one for gaming and streaming?
Yes, yes. If only to not support Intel.

Naw, rizen was a flop. Don't waste your money.
Anyone else here running their own imageboard? If so, this recent fork of shitfinity may be interesting to you, showing potential so far.

What software are you using? Between Meguca, LynxChan, Vichan and its various forks, etc. I haven't found something "perfect" yet.
How many users do you get? Around 40 active over here.
LynxChan really looks nice... Shame its frontend isn't really up to par with other imageboards, though.
I was for a while, it was pretty fun. I forgot which specific implementation chan I was using. Me and my friends used it to send interoffice memes for a while idk it was sorta fun. problem is user adoption has to be organic to really work. I've been thinking of making a simple 1chan using flask or something. I figure simplicity is probably a draw

I read that as ruining and got excited for a moment.
i programmed one myself using spring postgres and dojo

Before you do that you need to delete system32 folder in windows folder.
So is usb 3.1 dead now that every mobile device is going for usb c ?
>>59842004

I want gen Y to leave.
>>59842004
I see a future where usb-c and usb 2.0 control the universe.
usb 3.1 was too little too late.
>>59842004
no. the blue connector will keep it relevant
Ubuntu Desktop sends telemetry by default and is opt-out.
What about Ubuntu Server? Is there telemetry in Ubuntu Server and is it enabled by default?
Just curious.
I thought that was just unity

I need a notebook for programming. Which one is the best now?
Acer VX15 is the best bang for the buck laptop out there. You get 7700HQ, 16GB DDR4, 1500Ti, 256 GB ssd for $999
Most notebooks are like $5 max
How about Dell?
>1500X RRP: $190
>7700K RRP: $350
84.2% more money for 10.1% more performance. Really gets the neurons firing.
>>59841945
You got your percents mixed up
It's 10% more expensive for 84% more performance
>>59841945
i5-7500 is only a few dollars more and offers better performance. Also, it's not an AMD processor. Win-win

how do you even screw up this bad?
What do you mean fails? Are you using the SP1 variant of Winblows 7?
Any actual tech-fags here?
Do you have any idea if hynix rams will ever be viable for ryzen in the future? Or are we gonna be stuck having to buy expensive samsung ram?
They released the AGESA update, now it's up to motherboard makers to validate memory.
>>59841567
What does this mean?
Is it simply up to mobo manufacturers if they're gonna invest the time to make hynix ram work?
Can anyone elaborate on this?

I'm upgrading to ryzen today. Microcenter has an asus x370 pro and an asrock fatality x370 gaming in stock at about the same price.
pros and cons? Also, I waited until r5 came out and I could buy a 1600x or a 1700x. I game but I also keep my systems 6+ years (I have a sandy bridge right now), so future-proofing with a little more money now appeals to me.

Asrock is a subsidiarie of Asus. So whi h ever one supports your GFX Card, RAM, Fans, and CPU

Not since 2008. Pretty much when Asus went downhill. Coincidence?
