Powerlifter here, where should I throw in cleans on my program and what set/rep ranges should I use? 5x3 sounds pretty standard but here's my thing as of now. I've made really good progress doing this shit so don't fuck with my whole program just hint at me where I should put my cleans.

Also just for the record I'm 6'1'' and hovering just under or over 200lbs

That's scary shit. One of my fears that occasionally sparks existential panic. I freaked out getting my chest x-rayed to verify that I had (minor) scoliosis, thinking they'd find a tumor instead. I hope it ends up being nothing anon!

I don't think I have a brain tumor but sometimes I smell weirdly specific smells all of a sudden with no obvious source and then it goes away. Makes me wonder.

I stopped dieting and was able to maintain my leanness for a few month but recently i have been trying to eat a little more to gain weight

i look a little puffier and my waist isnt as small i have gained some fat but my weight hasnt changed at all

im no weaker or smaller i dont get whats going on i havent really been eating a whole lot more than normal just like 200kcal more or somthing

whats goingon should i increase my cals? i dont want ot get too fat

so you've become less carb-loaded and lost water weight, coincidentally your fat has gone up by the same amount.

yeah it takes me about 3 days to get down from fighting weight to scale weight. without doing anything extreme if i stop eating assloads of rice and oatmeal, i'll be 6-10 pounds lighter in that time.

weight loss is a dumb goal.

I'm 6' and 180lbs.
Is 3000 kcal too much for bulking when my only activity is going to the gym 3 times per week while sitting in class all day and barely any walking?

Started working out a year ago. was a week fat ass. Just benched 225 for the first time last weekend. but im still fat. what kind of cardio should I be doing????

i think you shouldn't worry about cardio until you're already losing weight only by diet

having said that, greg nuckols wrote about cardio for strength trainees and he'll have you do something like 20 minutes on the bike (search the article)

Sounds like me starting out. I just posted in the running thread. I'm a big and tall guy. I started at 300lbs fat and 6'4". I'm now about 230 at my leanest, but I put on a lot of muscle. It took about 5 years.

I went for strength first before cutting down like you. I'm very endomorphic. I put on muscle super easy, but my body just does not like letting go of fat. So I have to work in cardio into my weekly routine to create the deficit or break even. I jog 3 miles in 30 min twice a week when I'm trying to add muscle to keep my fat from getting out of hand. When I cut in the spring, my diet has to be in check and I add a 3rd day of jogging.

Get your diet in order though, seriously. It made a huge difference for me. It took me a couple of months toying with macros and total calorie intake to find what works for me. The food will seem boring, and relatively it is, but it makes your cheat days so much more savory and deserved.

I make a omlette, 4 eggs, ham, spring onion, Sweetcorn and half of one of those giant dauglsage things. 1000calories. easy.

/Cutting/ general
What would be better on a cut? Doing 5x5 (SS for example) vs. Brosplit with 10-16 sets per muscle? 5x5 uses more complex muscle groups which burn more calories right? But brosplit has way more sets and you can train without rest days. Help /fit/

Push pull legs, do a heavy compound and work up to a minimum weight triple, then just lots of isolation.
Do stuff with tempo of contraction, really try and target weaker muscles. I was able to really grow training this way in my last cut, lost strength of course but thats a given.

You wont progress on 5x5 if you are cutting, and it is very disheartening to come in and be weaker each time.

This is advice for someone who already is strong and is cutting, if you are a noob that totally changes my advice.

should probably add that im not strong, i've lifted for about a month without diet in chech so basically the only thing that sets me apart from first timers is i know form. i currently do chest/triceps back/biceps legs/shoulder could this work? also forgetting the fact that you wont progress on 5x5 would it burn more calories?

I heard that a lot of people at the gym take steroids and or xanax..What is the point of xanax for muscle building? Does it give you muscles "full relaxation" when sleeping. I took 1mg of this shit and was BTFO.
