noob gains occur when the volume required to make your body adapt is still well within your recovery capacity. It's the easy gains within the first 30% or so of your journey from DYEL to approaching your genetic limits. You can't like, miss them, or waste them, or recreate them (except maybe with steroids for that last one); it's just the easy gains you make when you're lifting light weights.

So... kind of? You should be able to progress as fast or faster as you did the first time around, assuming the bad form wasn't some easier form (half ROM, momentum on strict exercises, etc).

Sometimes I'll cheat by accident (or on purpose) for an amount of like 1000 calories, absolute maximum. I make this up by doing 1000 calories of cardio later in the day when this happens.
is this healthy?

>>
It is not unhealthy. That said, are you sure you're burning a 1000 calories? That's a lot and would require a specialized workout, not something random that you do "later in the day"
>>
>>34964990
Two hours of stationary cycling /w over half of the resistance it offers
that's what the display says anyway
>>
>>34965052
These are notoriously awful to count the calories burned and always overestimate.
But yes, it is healthy

So I used to eat quite a lot of soy products.
I drank soy milk every day, and ate about 250g of tofu a day.

I recently learned that consumption of soy messes with your testosterone levels, so I stopped eating it.

My question is how long would it take for my test levels to recover from any damage that may have been done?

I always wondered about this. I'm cyclist, can barely lift, but still have a problem with normal jeans/trousers.. wtf do people with 'decent' legs do ? always wear goofy baggy jeans ?

Here is a hint, try to wear pants with blended fabrics, with the secondary material being an elastic form of fabric, never go 100% anything, that way it has some give for when your bend your legs

Health question for you /fit/:

How do you guys deal with the crippling anxiety and panic attacks? I'm on ativan but only take one when it gets bad, when I feel like I'm going to die.

I'm not a neet, have a good job, and having nothing to worry about. Shit sucks, brahs.

It's when people "cross" two or more seperate exercises into one big clusterfuck, to confuse the muscles or some bullshit. Like jump roping power cleans or kettlebell backflips, it really confuses the shit out of those muscles.

I want to do 10,000 pull ups in a year. Is this possible? I'm planning on doing ~35 a day which will give me a few days off. Is there any reason this would be a bad idea?

Is there any specific reason why there is so much misconception surrounding health and fitness? Does anybody know of any books or something on the subject?

>>
Because
1. people have egos in this industry
2. my way is better competition
3. people outright making shit up or lying to sell products/routines/etc
so basically, capitalism is why.
>>
>>34963830
Is it honestly that simple? You would think with all of the information available from actual medical sources there'd be less ambiguity.
>>
Because people can't tell what really works so they're easy to sell to.

Also people will do shit like brosplits because all their friends do, they will do high reps for their main exercise because they react on feeling, and think the burning is muscle growing, also their friends do it. And they take advice from roiders who can generally do anything and still make gains.

Medical research all points to muscle growing as a response to needing to be stronger or more powerful, hence why all bodybuilders, powerlifters, and weightlifters always trying to increase weight, so it's a surprise to see normies just trying to go for high rep bullshit. They grow because they eventually increase weight, but it takes them longer

this

Ok, so I'm legitimately considering this for the next year.

I just had a court case where I narrowly avoided going to jail. I was looking at a possible 3 years which would have been a total waste of my time anyway - 1 year spent in full cocoon mode doesn't seem so bad as an alternative since I was fully prepared to lose years of my life anyway.

>Have access to plenty of gear
>Make $1,750 a week after tax and work from home
>Access to 24 hour gym literally 10 minute walk from my house
>live alone

I've been lifting for 6 years and have built a great foundation, looking to achieve 3-4 years' worth of results in this 1.

Thoughts?

>Isolate yourself so you can become better socially

Being social or whatever skill you're trying to become better at only improves through practice. You've been lifting for six years so any gains you may make isn't going to surprise people as much as you're thinking bud.
>>
>>34963504
first let me in on how to make 1700 a week from home
>>
>>34963548
Being social really isn't the issue. if anything, I'm too social. It pulls focus from what's important and I'd like to focus on personal development for a while and avoid all the external drama.

The gains are just a nice bonus

Does anyone else have uneven hip drive when doing squats? When I squat, one hip always comes up significantly faster than the other, even when I am only squatting the bar. I've tried so many things to fix it, and nothing works.

Help?

>>34963461
There's a few things that could be responsible. My first instinct is to suggest stretching and foam rolling your hips and upper quads. Then spend some time with light weight just getting the movement correct.
>>
>>34963538
Like just working the bar over and over? I guess so, since the hip problems are evident even with the bar

Tbh his breathing stuff is pretty on point for the general public.

He's relating it in a way that people will understand but there's a bunch of research on the effects of breathing and health including influencing the autonomic nervous system which until that point wasn't thought to be consciously controllable.

Hello /fit/

I'm training for something where I need to run 5km (3.1m) in 25mins.

I'm almost able to run it (did it in 25.47 few days ago) and yesterday on the treadmill I passed it without any problems.

However today I went to train again and after 2km I couldnt walk anymore. I have heavy pain in my left knee and right shin. I dont know if its muscle or joint/socket pain. I literally cant even walk. And I did enough stretching.

I am afraid it is due to the place where I run is really shitty. Where I run is terrible street. Lots of sidewalks and roads and stones and shit on the street, I really do a lot of step on and step off shit which I think might be causing the pain.

How the fuck do I solve this? I need to train everyday but i'm afraid I am fucking myself up if I do so. What should I do? thanks

I literally cant even fucking walk in my own house. It might be cause of sharp corners too and too many on and off steps and uneven streets.

This fucking sucks ass, yesterday on the treadmill I ran like the fucking wind and didnt even start to breathe heavy but today after 2km i literally could only walk really slow to my home since my left knee and right leg hurt like fuck
>>
>>34963292
you shouldn't be running on anything other than a track, asphalt or grass. If you run on concrete you'll ruin your joints. Wear thick shoes if you must.
>>
>>34963308
yeah the problem is only 1/3 of the route i run (i run 5 rounds of 1km) is asphalt/tarmac. The rest is uneven shitty street with long speedbumps and on and off sidewalks so there is always a difference in height. Also the streets seem to be on a hill sideways so one feet is always lower than the other

what the fuck do i do
