I really want to be a chef and love cooking. I have done it since I was a little kid, and I'm going to pic related this coming school year. Any tips?

You stupid fuck. You love cooking, and then you are going to ruin it by doing one of the shittiest damn jobs in the world. I hope you like repetition.

Been at it for 3 years now. Still love it more and more each day. Just know that you will most likely get addicted to drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol.

'sup. I've an urgent need for cheap, bland food that than be frozen and reheated quickly and easily. I've a friend who had her tonsils out a few days ago, but family high drama has happened so she has to ask friends to help her for a ways until that shit's been cleaned up.

I'm skint, she's skint, and I'm not all that good as a cook either. What I need are cheap, bland recipes with no pointy or rough bits to scrape at the wounds in her throat, and that are reasonably easy to keep down. Also no dairy.

Two things I've already made:

Chicken, vegetable, and glass noodle soup. Three chicken stock cubes, two cloves of garlic, a red onion very finely diced, four chicken breasts roasted and shredded, a ton of carrots, squash, zucchini, and some celery I found in the bottom of the fridge crying softly because it was all alone, with vermicelli noodles to pad it out. It stayed down, but did need to have a bit of water added to lighten it.

I also made zucchini slice, eggs, onion, grape seed oil, flour as a thickener, a couple rashers of bacon and some cheese. Also very bland, but came right back up because of the dairy thing.

I can't stay at her place and since it's a forty minute one way trip plus tolls commuting isn't an option, so I need something that can be portioned out and nuked when it's needed. Any ideas?

Pretty much any rice dish will do, rice probably won't hurt her throat and it lasts for a while.

Hey, /ck/, It's my 1st time posting here. Wanted to make some honney chicken, found a youtube video explaining how to make it and wanted to ask you guys for some advice. For example, i wanted to add some ground chile into the sauce for some spice.

Holy shit I have never seen a recipe that makes me rage like this:

>Use two sets of vegetables. We add one set of vegetables to the stew at the very beginning to flavor it as it cooks. We then discard those spent vegetables and add a fresh set to the pot toward the end of cooking.

Well, a lot of higher tier food is wasteful. Like demiglace.

But in a case like OP I think I would just use some store bought vegetable stock instead. The only vegetable I will cook down and strain out/throw away is celery.

Hey /ck/ school just got out, teachers and kids alike are beginning their summer vacation.

What are the best summer foods to celebrate?
This morning it's 60F and pouring, so I am going to make some pulled pork in the crock pot while I go out and get groceries. Planning on trying to make my own coleslaw.
Specialty deli buns for the pulled pork sandwiches. Corn? Pasta salad?
Any tips on the coleslaw? I think i'll use purple cabbage and red whine vinegar, basically Bobby Flay's recipe.

I'm sorry you want to talk about food on this board OP it's hard for threads like this to get attention from the McChicken posters.

Your pulled pork sounds lovely and the only way you could make it better is with some homemade buns.

I'm impromptu making some pork tacos tonight with a friend. Probably some shoulder browned with a rub on it pressure cooked in some beer until it falls apart.

We usually make our own tortillas and we'll quick pickle some red onion in vinegar as a topping.

there is already a summer thread. use the catalog

What do you think of Steve Raichlen ? He seems to be polarizing figure in the world of grilling. Most celeb chefs like Ramsey and Guy Fierri are beloved. This guy seems to be either loved or despised. They say he can't smoke or grill or whatever. What do you think?

I don't trust anybody who isnt a 400lb greasy blob of shit to grill or smoke my meats. Including Ramsey and Fierri.

He has several popular grilling shows on pbs over the years. He also authored the book "Barbeque Bible".

Hi /ck/

So I'm having people over tonight, I'm gonna try to make spaghetti and either cheese sticks or bread sticks. I was wondering. what are your favorite recipes/tips for making Italian food. Any advice on how i should make mine? Also is pouring the pasta water into the sauce a meme?

Let's discuss

only pour pasta water into sauce if you're finishing in a saute pan before serving (what a line cook would do).. garlic and basil are your main flavors
>>
Nah

My best advice is don't experiment on guests. They don't want to be your guinea pigs.

I think for a large crowd, lasagna is the way to go. Is for the most part fool-proof, can be prepared in advance and chilled (just needs to be wrapped in foil and baked in the oven and then briefly unwrapped to brown the cheese), easy to cut into squares of different portion sizes, people don't feel barbaric trying to wrap noodles around a fork and get it into their mouth without making a mess, and I could go on and on.

Spaghetti sucks.

Which hot dog would you like?

On the left, we have a "New York" dog, with onions sauteed in a spicy tomato sauce.

On the right, we have a "Cajun" dog, with New Orleans relish, chili, and pepper jack cheese.

I'll take the cajun dog OP, but it gets points taken off for unmelted cheese.

The right. Has cheese. Made in the south so I know it tastes good.

I want to cook meat in boos and I don't have a family to feed. Between my roommate and others I'd said Id want something that can feed 4 people. Also don't want to spend too much on it but I had an oval shamed croc-pot in mind so i could fit in more.

Pic below is my selection where i can get a warranty on it. Could go to argos but want to hear what you think.

What are the cheapest cuts of meat? Any meat.

I don't care about taste. I'm just trying to feed my dog and she'll eat anything. I've been a vegetarian since middle school so I don't know meat prices.

Chicken livers and gizzards. My dogs love them as a snack.
>>
just give it dog food or go to the butchers and ask for offcuts,
>>
>>9061126
Have you considered dog food? They come in huge 50lb bags that I guarantee are a better value than trying to buy human-consumable cuts of meat in the same volume.
