I don't like drinking but I like using alcohol to cook sometimes. Since my bottle of rum is almost empty I'm wondering, should I buy another one or is there a more versatile beverage for cooking that I don't know? Wine doesn't count because you can't use the same bottle for 3 years.
Brandy is the spirit I use most often in cooking.

So I got a small bottle olive oil straight from some backwater italian village and it's nasty as fuck. Bitter, heavy grass smell and flavor and now I'm puckering up as well. Is this normal?
>>7184219
Yeah, it's so unrefined that you're tasting the bitteryfuckness of the olives. That's why olives are brined. I recommend you watch the Avec Eric episode "oil & wine". It's very informative.

yes, green olives are an acquired tasted
>>7184219
What you have is a first press pure olive oil - the kind usually described by the number of coughs it induces when tasted on its own. It's not a cooking oil, it is a flavoring oil. On its own it's very strong.
How well do these things actually work? My oven is currently broken and my parents are coming over on Christmas. Is it worth the 40-50 bucks?
>>7184129
I did not find the one I got for my cabin the least bit satisfying. No ability to brown anything, and whatever I cooked in it came out tasting like whatever the thing is coated with - a weird chemical taste way worse than what you get with cheap nonstick cookware.
Can't recommend these things.

Did you get upset when the encyclopedias you bought failed to make you any smarter too?

i was given a couple for thanksgiving this year. We cooked a turkey in one and the other turkey was done in the oven. The one in the oven was better, but they're not a bad substitute if you don't have an oven. I never had any issues like >>7184184
Also, my ex's mom used to use one all the time. It worked reasonably well for her.
Why are the smaller jars of peanut butter consistently cheaper than the larger jars?
Kroger (aka King Soopers in some states) has three sizes of PB, small medium and large. Usually with most things, the bigger sizes are cheaper per ounce. But with PB, like 90% of the time I go there either the small or medium jar is the cheapest. It's annoying because I'd rather just buy one big one instead of three small ones, but I usually do the latter because it's cheaper.
Why do they do this? I can't think of anything else where the biggest size is consistently more expensive, it doesn't make sense.
>>7184014
I know right? King Soopers always has the small/medium jars on sale like 4/$10 (or whatever) and the giant son of a bitch is at a perpetual state of $14
You don't know how to shop sales, overstocks and manager's specials. I got a 40oz jar of crunchy PB a few months ago for $1.99.
Unless you can get a 12oz jar for under 60ยข, I ain't listenin' to no mo' o' yo' shit.
Guys, can you tell me how do peanut butter prices and normal butter prices relate in the US? Over here PB is import-only, so a 500g jar costs 2 times the price of the same amount of dairy butter.
One of you faggots came on /b saying they found a real life witch on this board, you have 5 seconds to prove you aren't a witch.

What's underneath the cheetos? If I had to do convenience store/vending machine breakfast, I do nature valley granola, a yogurt, a coffee, or a beef jerky, cheese crackers and V8 (cup of ice if they have it).
I had pumpkin spice (Thomas') bagel with butter. Dunkin Donuts coffee to which I added some homemade vanilla sugar and decadent whipping cream :P

ITT: People with cheap and terrible eating habits: post what / how you've fed yourself this past week
>pic related (they're like tiny baguettes, about 15cm / 6 inches long) times two, every morning, freshly baked (but bought in the supermarket). With scrambled eggs (made in butter, not oil) and tabasco sauce
>3 to 6 cups of coffee + 1 or 2 slices of home made apple pie
and that's it. I don't really have an active life, so I don't need much food

>usually eat fast food, though when I do make food it's generally pretty healthy (favourite foods are fish, avocado, egg, etc)
>usually replace meals with coffee and ciggie

Is this some sort of meme or did they really not realize they it's spelled wrong?
Also when will the vegetarian fad come to an end?
I'm tired of these fucking vegetable fuccbois always feeling superior since they don't need to justify their plant genocide for some reason
Also the guy is painfully unfunny to the point of cringe
