>good
street food

>bad
literally everything else.
i fucking hate greek home cooking and sit-in restaurant stuff. if the greek place doesn't do take away, i'll likely not enjoy anything on its menu. same with turkish food (which is the same shit under a different name and banner)

You have two directions you can take here:
1) Appease the biggest mediterranean demographic, and rather than cook actual Greek food, you only cook non-pork items. If there are locals who are muslims, they won't shun your place. Call it a mediterranean taverna and get all the neighboring cuisines into the menu, north african, isreali, lebanese, etc.
2) Open a comfort food diner with focus on greek items too. Daily specials with soup/salad/dessert included, and incorporate some of the favorite dishes, or include some great seafood. Daily you'll have to include some gyro meat, spinach and feta in the breakfast omelettes, maybe some shakshouka or some other egg tucked bread idea.
You'll need your dessert hand good. Baklava, galactobourka, maybe some homemade turkish things. The $10ish family diner is popular with old folks, esp if you do an early bird, and they can be your bread and butter, the post-church crowd too, this is Diner 101. If you're doing something else, sadly, probably turning away some folks.

There's a place called Gyroville, kind of doing a take on the fast casual Chipotle idea, combined with Chicken Kitchen, I'd say, with a touch of latin american with some chimmichurri combined with the assortment of tzatzikis . Chopchop layered rice platters. I don't live near one anymore, but it'd be in my weekly rotation if I did. Check out their menu for ideas.

Are there any craft brewers who use pre-prohibiton recipes?
53 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
If you want a beer that is using a pre-prohibition recipe/method you'll need to import or a time machine.
>>
>>7871889

Sam Adams lager is literally based off of a pre-prohibition recipe.
>>
>>7871895
Sam Adams is run by a Jew who shills whatever bullshit he wants. Pre-prohibition no one was writing down recipes. You were taught directly how to brew beer and I doubt he was taught by anyone from that era.

Heyyoo.

Didn't see a thread so figured fuck it make my own. First time for everything. Pop my cherry. Maybe get banned. Who knows.

Anyhow, what is ya'lls drink of choice tonight?
Currently drinking a shitty cheap low carb arnold palmer made with maple vodka.
You know it's gonna be a good night when you bring two bottles of vodka up to your bedroom and lock yourself out from the world.

Guess this is as good a place to ask as any, especially since /fit/ no longer includes health apparently.

I'm going into the doctor tomorrow to ask for something to help me ween myself off drinking everyday and having the shakes as soon as I wake up. It sounds like I want some kind of benzos, but how do you actually go in and ask for something like that?

Anyone have any experience getting medical help without ending up in an actual hospital bed because of kidney failure or whatever?
>>
>>7863904
Oh shit man, that's rough.
Good on you for taking the first step though. I believe in you!
I guess the best thing you can do is be really casual about it? Like.. Don't lose your cool?
I don't know. I wish I could be of more help. They will likely want to run a few tests.
>>
>>7863904
they might give you ativan, helps a little. probably antabuse. will take blood tests.

What's a superb white sauce recipe? I'm trying to remember one from years ago using corn starch but all I can find are recipes with ketchup and tomato paste.

I'm gonna use it on some hibachi chicken tonight

I've been trying good sir but I can't find one that seems authentic.

>Putting anything other than salt and pepper on your stake

For what purpose

The point of eating stake is tasting the natural meat flavor
Salt and a little bit of pepper just brings it out
Covering it in shit just distracts you from the flavor

Just try a bunch of absinthes. Look for brands that are described as more 'complex' or 'herby'. I haven't had pic related but they say it's quite complex.

These things won't lose any of their flavour and nutrition by simmering them in their skin, right?

>>
>>7874975
You are correct.
>>
no the skin is very fragile, plus cooking in and of itself removes some flavour and nutrition.

Which one is healthier, mustard or ketchup? Which one do you use to spice your dishes? What kind of mustard/ketchup do you use in your kitchen?

Mustard
I never use ketchup in my dishes, I suppose some dishes do call for mustard
I use dijon, wholegrain, and english mustard depending

There are few feels comparable to biting into a big roast beef sandwich. The feeling in your mouth is pure bliss. I never really bought into the whole curly fries thing, that's mainly white girls.

One of the main reasons I go is because it's one of the few fast food chains that sell mozzarella sticks and those are like crack to me.

www.soylent.com

This is a joke, right? Nobody in their right mind would name their food product 'Soylent'.
13 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>7874073
What would you call it instead?
>>
I tried it recently, and it wasn't bad. Not filling at all, my stomach was gurgling all day, and it was damned annoying, but it wasn't bad, it tasted a bit sweeter than i'd like though.

The name is because it's largely made made from proteins, lent from soy.

The millenial generation doesn't know about soylent green, so given that they're by and large the consumer base, it's not as big of a deal as any person over the age of 25 might think.
