Do I need to know how to cook well if I want to go to culinary school?
It's too late this year but I am thinking about applying to culinary school next year. Obviously I will start teaching myself how to cook immediately but I'm wondering if one year of home experience will be enough.
Next question: There is a job available at a local restaurant for a line cook. Do you think they would hire me and train me even though I hardly know anything?
Going to culinary school is already kind of dumb for 90% of people, but if you go without any restaurant experience, the people who have already worked in a real kitchen are going to walk all over you. Just saying.

Have you been?
Alright /ck/ help me and my friend solve a life long argument.
Does Ketchup belong in the fridge or pantry?
I say pantry because I don't want cold ketchup on my burger or hotdog.

>>8016670
It belongs in the garbage can
>linking to the results
>>8016670
It says to refrigerate after opening on the bottle so I just do that. I also like it cold so
Can you make an edible dish with anything in a five foot distance from you?
Stale peanuts, soaked in gin, garnished with melon flavored ecig juice.
Doubtful.
>>8016660
That would be awful
>>8016650
The only edible thing within 5 feet is a small bowl with pistachios and a glass of water
What we having for breakfast lads?
For me:

>>8016626

>>8016626

>>8016626
Fillet o fish?? double? this is breakfast for a normal fucko? also no hot cakes or sausage burritos you are literal define dumbass
What ketchup do you guys put on your steaks? Personally I like Heinz with Sriracha on a well done steak. But I feel like there may be better options.
How about you guys? What ketchup are you using?
>>8016433
I like Bait Brand ketchup, flavored with sage.
>>8016433
You need to be more subtle with your bait
Right now you are wearing Jungle camo in the desert
Explain to me why you make your fries with white potatoes.
Purple potato fries:
- Actually have a good flavor
- Taste better without salt
- Can stand up on their own without shitty condiments
>>8016274
literally nothing tastes better without salt
>>8016294
>>8016307
wrong. adding a small amount of salt to anything will bring out its flavors.
I'd like to expand into some Chinese cuisine at home. What wok would /ck/ recommend for home use on an gas range at home?
I was eyeing a Lodge cast iron one but was thinking that seems to defeat the purpose of a wok as it would heat equally across the whole wok.
For a home gas range, just use nonstick aluminum with a flat bottom.
If you really want to wok, buy or jury rig a 100K+ BTU burner outside and use a carbon steel wok with a round bottom.
>>8015906
Well 100K+ is a bit of an exaggeration. Over 50K ought to do for personal use.
>>8015906
>>8015914
So something like pic related?
>cooking extra fiery curry
>take off the mask
It was extremely painful.
>>8015882
For you
>>8015882
If I eat this will I die?
>>8015882
If there's so much capsaicin in a recipe that you need a ventilation mask so you aren't essentially pepper sprayed by the fumes in the air, you're making an inedible dish.
These bloody things actually taste like cotton candy. I bought them expecting them to be slightly sweeter than normal grapes, but no. They taste artificial as fuck.
What kind of genetic tomfoolery is this?
Isn't cotton candy just made from purr sugar and food coloring?
They spray an additive on them, just like "Grapples".
>>8015891
They could just be freeze dried, like the grapes they use for "fake" ice wine.
I tried Taco Bell for the first time today (there are literally 10 in the UK) and it was fucking amazing. Although I did get the shits a few hours after so that meme turned out to be true.
Still, it was tasty and cheap. Why aren't there more in the UK? I've been to loads of shitty Mexican places and this literally beats them all.
>plus they sell beer
>>8015861
>Uk has taco bell
ERECT
>>8015861
Taco Bell in the UK? Bizarre.
>>8015861
What the hell, that thing looks really good. We don't that in the US.
Anyway yeah Taco Bell is my favorite fast food. It's probably the cheapest around and I like the food.
What are some foods that can increase sexual performance/libido?
>>8015576
This picture is bullshit, right?
>>8015595
School just got out on the east coast. Hide and move on.
raw oysters
Low carb, high protein dishes?
I will dump what I have
So my girlfriend is lactose intolerant. The brew shop near me sells bags of lactose. I was thinking of making something very high in sugar and using lactose for it as a trick. What food that would very sugary and would also normally be lactose-free can I make for this trick I'm going to play?
>>8015404
Your girlfriend is weak and her bloodline is weak enjoy your weak babys

Isn't poisoning people a felony?
IT'S JUST A PRANK BRO
What's the best combination of ingredients to go on the average pizza?
Do you guys often try to recreate various other meals through pizza or do you have a specific set of toppings that go well together?
I ask because at my local [insert international chain], there's this deal for unlimited toppings for a decent price
Normally what I do is get extra cheese, double philly steak meat, double onions, double mushrooms, and light garlic sauce instead of tomato
I've been experimenting with putting bacon and provolone on there, and they both make great additions
It's so much toppings it's almost deep dish
I usually can eat half a large pizza, sometimes more, but I can barely finish 3 slices
I've also been getting chicken, bacon, mushrooms, onions, and pepperoni and calling it "the supreme"
Like how most places serve a "deluxe" which feature sausage, pepperoni, green peppers, and olives, I'm hoping that the specific combination of ingredients catches on
>>8015376
Pepperoni, bacon, jalapeƱo. Prove me wrong.
Pro tip: you can't
>>8015376
pineapple
red onion
pepperoni
jalapeno

Alright so the only real butcher near me is run by a bunch of sandniggers and their stuff says 'halal' on it, so i ask the guy if he has any non halal meat cos i aint fucking supporting isis or nothing and he won't sell it to me. Isn't it like how airoplanes have to have kosher options, this fuck is cheating me, i'm sure he has it too. His stuff looks really good, and walmart stakes suck dick, so what can i say to get this guy to sell me some normal AMERICAN meat?
7/10
I enjoyed it
>>8015366
Ask him for pork op
Don't give in. By buying halal, one is supporting and legitimizing Islamic ideology. Halal means permissible in islam. And you know that islamic ideology permits lots of atrocities.
