I starve myself until it hurts so bad I pass out and wake up a few hours later feeling normal

I was skinny as fuck (like you could make out my rib cage) but being an alcoholic made me fat but just in my stomach and now it won't go away even though I eat far less and run a mile everyday. There's no use.

I ate more vegetables and I was full for like...10 minutes, then I was hungrier than I was before

I ate less, broken up in smaller meals like the doc said "so you don't get hungry all the time" fuck that, I was hungry all the time

I don't resent putting in effort, it's not that...I just wish there was some way to make my body understand that it doesn't need all these fucking calories. it's so frustrating, I just blow up all the time from being hungry

also I think my resting metabolic rate is lower than what it's calculated but I have no way of knowing what it's supposed to be without going below it, which everybody says you're not supposed to do. so wtf

I don't think there are any legitimate health concerns with GMOs.

OTOH, the goal of most GMO crops seems to be maximizing yield. In my opinion that's misdirected. We've already fucked our food supply over in so many ways by focusing on MOAR rather than "better". I'd like to see that sort of effort spend on making the food taste better, not be cheaper.

Cooking a steak for myself and another tonight.

What is the best way to prepare/cook a steak?

Marinade? Leave it to soak with oil/salt/pepper?

I've cooked bland steak in the past and don't wish a repeat of that.

Pls help.

IMHO, if it's a boneless steak then it's best cooked on a pan. Sear it on both sides, then lower the heat to finish cooking through. Or alternately, sear then finish in the oven.

A bone-in steak will not sit flat in a pan, therefore it won't sear as well. Bone-in steaks are best grilled.

Up to your preference, but I'd say no. If you have good meat then just season it shortly before you cook it.

Basic technique pointers:
1) make sure the steak is dry before you cook it. Pat it dry with kitchen towels. Damp meat won't sear/brown properly. If you marinaded the steak then this is extra important, since any residual marinade will burn and taste nasty.

2) let the steak rest after cooking it before you serve it.

They're boneless steaks.

So based on your advice I will:

Dry then season the steaks whilst the pan is heating up.

Throw the steaks in the pan, searing on both sides.

Lower the gas to half and leave for 5 minutes.

leave to rest before serving.

Alternatively, I'd like the steak to not be cold when we're eating, so if the steak is resting after being on half gas, is it not wiser then to finish them in the oven?

Being the huge weeb I am, I just finished the first season of Food Wars and the finals all about curry have me all revved up about curry.

So my hubby usually gets home at 5pm and I like to have a nice dinner ready for him, but i'm running out of ideas for what to make. What would you guys want making for you if you had someone to cook for you? Last night I made him freshly baked bread and a beef and potato stew, just as an example.

30% fat is quite high, that's going to get you some shrinkage. Even moreso if you're buying the really cheap ground meat.

go for 20%. And even then there will be some shrinkage. You can help preempt that by making the patty thinner in the center than at the edges. When the patty shrinks it will end up flat rather than round.
