Sushi is the most overrated food ever.
I haven't had sushi in over 5 years.
I've only had the shit "sushi" you get from buffets and the super market. If those are anything indicative of what sushi is supposed to really taste like then I'm not impressed.
Advice requested
>Want to cook for a living
>like working in a fast paced kitchen
>I've always been good at cooking, I'm very passionate about cooking and restaurant environments
>be worried about burning out(physical /emotional) strain not being financially succesful, or not being happy with not having much family time for rest of career/life
>want to open restaurant
>good long term money if you don't fail, autonomy is retirement
>be worried about failure and financial mediocrity
> I'm good at managing the one I work at, I also love cooking to an unreasonable level
>so any advice from anyone in the restaurant business or who has owned a restaurant ?
>have a Florida prepaid college fund I'm planning on changing my major to hospitality management from state university
Also my final goal is to run the restaurant so I don't have to work in the kitchen when I'm older

I want to highly dissuade you from a degree in Hospitality Management. Just get a standard business degree and let your passion and already held knowledge in the industry guide you.

What's wrong with a hospitality degree
Is crow edible? Have you tried it?
>>8010105
homeless people have internet in the us
2 reasons for no
Uness you want 1000 years of bad luck dont do that shit
Secondly city crows are probably eating too much shit for me to want to eat them, but a backwoods country crow I'd eat if I could get past the 1000 years bad luck issue
Crows are smarter than pigs, why would you eat them? When I ride by with my bicycle even within a couple feet of them, they stay put because they know and assume you're going in a straight line like cars do, completely unlike other birds that get spooked at every sound. But pigs somehow manged to get themselves domesticated and their entire genetic line bound to the meat industry; meanwhile, I've yet to see a single domesticated crow.

I have one, but rent & dog food > expensive stuff
I'ts usually not this bad, but I recently have some expenses that prevent food other then the cheapest of the cheap
As a joke, I picked up some Aussie wine
Shockingly, it's not bad. It's a normal color, and it doesn't taste like burning tires, ethanol, and cheap oak
I've been drinking wine every day for 18 years and this is the only wine from Australia that I didn't instantly want to pour down the drain
Why can't Australia make good wines?
>>8009864
Australia is the California of southeast Asia. They made like two good wines around 1975 and proceeded to fully insert their heads inside their asses
For best results stick to Spain, France, Germany, and Italy if you want good wine under $100/btl
And, considering the only reason to go over $100 is to impress people, just stick to those same countries for the fancy stuff. The only people impressed by Cali or Aussie wine aren't worth impressing to begin with
>Third world prison colony
>Making good wine
Grenache is god tier. There are no bad grenaches. Only wine makers with non-shit palates produce the stuff. But the best I've had were spicy versions from Spain.
Fucking Grenache. Delicious.
I've had some Malbec from Australia that was decent too. I wish I coil remember a single maker. Just m, for the love of Jesus, stay the fuck away from yellow tail and penfolds. Fuck everyone associated with the manufacture and distribution of that swill.
Is it impolite to order dressing on the side?
How about single removals or substitutions?
Yes, and yes. Both extremely common.
It's impolite to order a dish in any way other than how it's presented on the menu. If it comes with dressing on top, you deal with it.
>>8009566
>If it comes with dressing on top
If it comes with dressing on top you should go somewhere else. Either they toss it for you of serve it on the side; just drizzling it on top like in the OP pic is a sign of a backwards ass shit hole of a "restaurant" that doesn't know shit about what they're doing.
Food trends (current & former) you like and hate?
>like: poke, nothing wrong with fresh fish
>hate: fucking cupcakes, saccharine bullshit
>like

I was Metropolitan Market today (Seattle's own bougie expensive Whole Foods) and they had a poke bowl bar. I think you would have liked that, OP.

Help me guys, I need some ideas.
I've grown tired of the same old spread like peanut butter, nutella, jam and honey.
What do you guys put on your bread that usually flies under the radar?
I'm mostly looking for something savoury, but any advice is really appreciated.

This shit is an abomination. It's good for sandwiches and nothing else. Fucking foam. Grew up in a poor white trash family and this was the only bread we were allowed to eat
>can't we get bakery bread?
>don't be thinkin' ur ass is fancy
White sliced bread is more expensive than a homemade loaf of decent bread
>>8008477
I've tried telling my mom that. She doesn't have the time, despite laying in bed all day.
She'll spend like 2.89 on foam bread at a gas station, but throw a fit if I buy bakery bread for the same price.
What's wrong with pain de mie? My butler used to make the most incredible tapas with it.
Let's discuss cleaning your kitchen.
How often do you clean? What products do you use? How would you rate the general cleanliness of your kitchen and surfaces?
I tend to stick to the bleach and vinegar based natural cleaning products. I use pine sol on my kitchen floor. I typically clean top to bottom once a week and my oven I clean annually.
Never.
That's the wifes job.
Once a week? Are you disgustingly dirty or a clean freak?
I just swipe the floor now and then. My stove top is disgusting but my pots and pans are pristine.
