Get a job.

No seriously, what do you mean "What should I do?" You don't give enough information.

Get contract marriage (double income for step 2). Join the Military. Use GI bill for College and basic living expenses. Take Military savings and invest, or at least buy a home. Roth IRA, Bonds, Stocks, Real Estate rental properties. Go back to work until you're 65. Social Security. Teach children. Die. Repeat forever.

So, I really like investing in bull put spreads, because I feel like its a pretty low risk, moderate reward play and I've been doing well on them for awhile but I want to expand my horizons outside of AAPL and GOOG weeklies. Do you guys have any stocks that you think would be good for this type of strategy. I usually sell far out of the money puts and buy only a little more out of the money than that

have u tried trading it on indexes?

how long u been doing this strategy? I know its a high prob strat, but how do u control your losses? Do you let it go full loss or sell it off before it reaches that?

What delta do you like?

Netflix is a beast. Sell spreads every downtick.

Also monitor CMG.

Also why weeklies. 45 dte is golden spot.

I haven't tried it yet, but also I usually let it go full loss. My dad and I have been basically going halfsies on the plays and we've only lost really a handful of times, though that obviously adds up pretty quickly if you do it wrong enough lol. And>>1019726
Honestly I just look at the spread. I haven't really learned how to calculate all the greeks yet and though I know that delta tells you how much the options price changed per dollar the underlyings does, I don't exactly get how that can be applied to the risk of a stock

How do I get money to start up my idea into a business?

I have this unique idea that can easily make millions if the product is made. Though, I do not have the funds to start up my own business as I am student. I can't get investors as they usually want to see pre-existing sales or some sort of a base first. A loan wouldn't do much for me either as I am not making a enough income to pay them back. Others have said get a job but I'm in school right now and won't land the job I'm going for at least another 2-3 years.

The only realistic and possible option I see, is obtaining backers. Someone who is willing to put money forward and supports the idea/business.

In my shoes, I'm the guy with the idea and I know my idea/product will be successful because my exposure to the field that specific field the product is being sold to, the employee connections I have and the research I have done. Furthermore, other companies have created very very similar products and have done well. My idea takes it to the next step.

You need money in the business world to do anything especially the little things and the idea of waiting until I land my job is reasonable but its possible that another company will think of it by that time and create the product.

Right now, all I have is the idea, some research, sketches etc. I need money to continue to build a foundation/base for the idea especially even if I want to go public and get it crowd funded.

So /biz/ how do I get money to start my up my idea into a business?

ITT: we talk about coming trends within science and technology.

Post leads within fields you are passionate about, and have a certain up-to-date knowledge. People can research resulting investment opportunities on their own I think.

Personally I am a big believer in the coming hairloss cure. Sounds like such a mundane issue but several companies are making promising and steady progress. Eventually one will crack the problem, and explode in market value over night.

I've got a bit of insider knowledge in that I know AI is NOT the future. All the advances into it and the major applicable solutions add no value. The current company with the best AI in the world is scrambling to find a reason for people to buy into it; there's no current dire problem it proposes a solution to.

PS - Renewable energy is fucked for another decade or three. Most major projects for it are shutting down; they finally caught up to the whole $120/barrel equivalent on some solar or wind power plans, and then prices for oil were cut by almost 3/4. Solar and wind can't compete with that, so the major projects are all being scraped or put on hold, and while they're on hold (for years) the researchers, technicians, architects, and business leads are all finding new work.

Does anyone here have any experience with covered calls? If so, would you recommend it as an investment strategy?

I am asking this because I understand how options work, but so far, I have only experience with vanilla stock investing, but I am looking at covered calls give me some serious income from the premiums . I know that conventional wisdom states that covered calls are a conservative investment strategy (more so than vanilla stock ownership), and can theoretically give you relatively huge returns with relatively little risk.

However, it still sounds too good to be true. I mean, if covered calls are such a no brainer, why isnt everyone doing them and becoming rich off of them? Whats the downside of covered calls investing? Is there something I am missing here?

Covered calls mean selling your upside while leaving your downside intact. This isn't a good position if you are uncertain about the underlying's movements.

Capping your gains for guaranteed income has the same opportunity costs as investing your 401k in bonds instead of stocks while young. Lower returns than just holding the stock itself, unless the stock muddles along without moving much.

Selling calls falls apart if volatility goes up because volatility is a bigger input to options than stocks. So you are effectively shorting volatility in a low volatility environment. Not necessarily a great play right now, imo.

Covered calls are best if you expect low volatility and a boring market.
>>
I use them on low price products $15 or less.

The risk curve is the exact same thing as a naked put. Naked puts have a higher premium and subsequent POP.

They are an expensive trade as far as return on capital works.

if volatility shoots up it can be difficult to exit or roll the position if your stuff doesn't move.

You left out the most important difference. Stocks don't move up/down in an instant.
If you were selling covered calls for stocks in 2018 options, then you would be right. But we are looking at 40 day trades. A stock can do nothing in 40 day and when the call expires worthless, you made money on owning the stock.

This can be done multiple times in a year and only get called away once. Essentially, it is playing the fact that most stocks just aren't super whippy.

Of course on Biz, everyone trades 10 cent penny companies. These are not the things you sell covered calls against.

Hey /biz/, so I recently got onto a student investment team at my university. I requested the international equity fund and got approved (I'm in a dual degree for economics and finance so my professor thought the macro would be helpful) but as it turns out, what this fund really does is invest in international ETF's and mutual funds. ADR's are sometimes included, but I need to be researching specific areas.

What are some good news/research sources to use when doing my analysis? I have sites and analysts I follow for US equities, but I am pretty clueless when it comes to ETF trading.

This is excactly why uni is worthless and you wont learn a shit. These guys graduate with a piece of paper having never been traded, so with literally zero experience of the real markets. Cant blame them, the professors are just as bad. If they really know what they are doing they wouldnt be teaching kids, they would be top bankers or hedge fund managers.
>>
>not just using IB and doing your own DD with the entire wealth of human knowledge available at your fingertips.
>>
>>1019207
.... we are doing real trades, my professor just doesn't like investing in single international equities because they're riskier. I can still push if I need to for a specific equity, but he mainly wants me looking at ETF's. I would love to sit back and trade options, which I have done.

what's the best choice for an engineering student with a part time job and no bills and wants to make a buttload of sensible money from investment plans? I have no biz experience unless accounting counts.

1. Mutual Funds (med/high risk)

2. Exchange Traded Funds

3. Dividend Stocks

4. All of the Above

If you understand calculus there is no reason not to use derivatives. Trade like a quant, not a pleb.

Index futures are where its at.Index funds are okay too.

ETFs are fine with liquidity >1M trades/day >1k options trades

Dividends can be okay, but options can act as dividends. So you get something very similar to a dividend in a growth stock.

Making a buttload of money is the most sensible investment plan.

Tips landing a job?

How do I go on about landing a job even as an office assistant? I am 24 and only legit work experience I have is being a farm hand for 2 months, other than that, been doing various farm for for the past 8 or so years helping a friend and getting paid cash. I did things like watched over contractors and their workers and checked if everything was working properly and fixed sprinklers and such. I also do freelance graphic design on my free time. I just feel like I have been wasting time not pursuing a proper career. I want to get into advertising/ marketing.

Your biggest obstacle will be finding reliable employees, and competing with immigrants who may want it more.

If you have the capital you may be able to bypass that with giving a higher wage and using better supplies, but there's not a lot of room.

I hear waxing floors is profitable.

Keep a clean image, get shit done on time and done right, and be realistic with your prices but don't sell yourself short.

Hello guys, I would like what do you guys think of this site I just found out by searching in google "how to make" which gave up these top results; love to a woman (LOL) - money - money online - and can't remember what else.

I have seen very few of these Peer to peer lending shits, are they real? I even saw this in a forum board (vB board software) and they had people lending one to the other, like what the hell?

its either shill or scam, it can't be real or is it? if there is someone experienced in this, can you give realiable info of this "investment opportunity" of the "P2P lending" niche/industry

>>>>three W dot twino dot TLD for EU (It's marked as an ad right under the search box, thats why I found it)

I don't browse much 4chans or biz at all, but you guys very active here so yea, I'll make this thread here instead other invest sites.

I would like to know*

sorry for autism

Let's talk hypotheticals. I don't consider myself particularly financially literate, so I'd like to hear opinions.

Let's say:

You own and operate a small scale steroid lab. You have no education, and a minimum wage job. You lived frugally, managed to scrape together some cash and assemble a lab, and have finally managed after a few small batches and reinvesting all profits back into the business, to acquire a small sum of cash.

You now have $5,000.

Steroid A costs $2 to manufacture, sells for $60
Steroid B costs $9 to manufacture, sells for $70
Steroid C costs $5 to manufacture, sells for $50-60

Steroid A is the most popular and in high demand. Steroid B is also popular, but less so than A. Steroid C encompasses a variety of compounds which range from unpopular to very popular.

What would you do?

It would seem sensible to focus solely on producing Steroid A but you risk losing client base due to limited selection. Essentially like running a restaurant with one menu item.

Assume you sell anywhere from 5 to 40 units a week locally. You have the option to expand to online business, which would easily quadruple order volume BUT prices would need to be cut in half to remain competitive. There is also a slight increase in risk.

Hypothetically distributing both locally and via mail nets you $3,000-7,000 per week if pushing yourself to as high a volume as you can manage to fill.

What would your strategy be here, and where would you invest the money longterm. A degree? Stocks?

>You own and operate a small scale steroid lab.
>You have no education
Yeah no pick one.

Its all good until one day you gonna fuck up and someone gets seriously sick or even dies because of your shitty steroid. You will then end up in jail or killed or both.

>decide to schedule my week for maximum productivity
>schedule rest of this week
>figure out and write my proper schedule starting from next week
>"wow, I can get so much done!"
>decide my proper schedule is so good that I'll give myself the rest of this week off
>feel IMMENSE sense of relief when I delete this week's scheduled tasks

Is this a sign? How do you organise yourself?
