I'm starting a webshop on my website soon-to-be blog. The niche is fly tying materials, which in my country can be sold with a decent margin considering wholesales and shipping prices (most things fit in a bubble envelope)
My question is, buying generic materials from ebay, aliexpress and alibaba, essentially doing what /biz/ does in /ebay/ threads only with a webstore - how important is the brand? I can make videos and HD photos showing the quality and consistency but will that really matter when there is no brand name to show for it?
Can't really afford to invest in a brand inventory except for hooks, because that's essential in flytying

Each summer the national holiday of my home country is held in the capital.
There are shit loads of people on the streets (relative to the size of the country) and everyone is having a great time.
Since the country is small, the festivities are very concentrated to the heart of the capital.
By contacting the municipality you can get a permit to sell or to host some activity, during these days. The only thing you need to figure out, is where you want to have your stand/shop/activity.
Some of my close relatives own a house right in the fucking middle of everything, honestly the most central house there is. They have a empty "parking space" which faces out towards the main street where everyone walks.
If I can persuade them to allow me to use their parking space, I'm planning on asking for a permit to sell.
So, here is the question: What should I sell during these festive days? Or perhaps some form of activity? There are some complications if I am going to sell food, because there are a lot of guidelines that have to followed.
Any thoughts?

Ive worked since I was 16 and now have 6 1/2 years of resturant experience, and im about to move into management. I have two years of business classes and will be able to transfer management experience to complete the courses I need for a 4 year business management degree by taking a few electives. I have 9k in student debt but own a car and everything I need and my next step is paying off my debt and putting a downpayment on a house. I make above 30k a year now and could pick up a 50k bartending job in the city if i just wanted money but I feel like I'm wasting time. I don't want to be a billionaire I just want to feel intellectually stimulated and making what I've earned rather than letting my brain go stagnat earning what my time buys by being efficient. Any suggestions or advice on where I should go next? I hate being constantly underwhelmed by what society has to offer because I constantly see the putting in the hours stereotype that modern education pushes and I honestly know that there has to be more than that. Especially because the other school of thought is the new pyramid social network marketing feel good psychology. A.k.a. dragging in college students to do work they aren't getting paid enough for so that the college kid 5 steps up the pyramid can make 40% of the dividends of everyone below him and then use that image to drag in more and inspire the bottom tier employees.

Hi /biz/, finance noob here currently reading pic related to educate myself. Despite a cringe-worthy title page it's actually pretty informative and not GET RICH QUICK-tier bullshit. I have a few questions.
1. To clarify stocks, are the only ways to gain wealth from stocks dividends and selling the stock itself? In the book, dividends are pretty much called out as being worthless in most scenarios so they don't really count. That leaves selling the stock itself as the only way to cash out on it. In the book, Buffet says that Warren will hold on to stocks regardless of price as long as he believes that the company's income will be reliable. How does that make sense? Shouldn't the stock price be the only thing that matters because it's the only way to cash out? Why not just sell the stock at a certain point rather than hold on to it?
2. Why doesn't everyone just buy low/sell high? Who the hell buys high and sells low? Is it just that people are stupid?

That's why you need to read a better book than the buffet story book to understand the mechanics of how stock works.
You buy a stock at a certain price, and yes you get capital gains if you see it at a higher price. Dividends are profits paid out to shareholders that the company doesn't retain. Depending on your investment goals.. Dividends can still be quite significant, ie high dividend income stock say for the less risk adverse or capital preservation and dividend income seekers. Why the focus on stock price is because of how buffet is seen as the God of value investing. To be able to identify undervalued stock at a cheap price and holding then long term till their prices sky rocket because of "strong fundamentals". Of course it's easy for you to say buy low sell high. In reality you can almost never find an undervalued stock now.

So why do people still invest in the stock market? Is it solely for dividends? Because if undervalued stocks are so rare then why do people even buy stocks? I'd assume that most companies would be valued at around their actual value or above and therefore new buyers would not benefit from buying them as stocks would just stay at the accurate price.
Going into year 12 next year and considering studying actuarial science in Uni, my question biz is, is it worth it?

Hey /biz/
I've got an interest in learning the building blocks of creating an online business. I figured the best way is to accumulate the necessary information in setting up a website and then going from there.
I have no expectations regarding this other than to gain at least a little bit of knowledge on creating said website and marketing. I'd like to sell affordable sunglasses and market them in my fairly large college town. My biggest hurdle is going to be actually finding a wholesale sunglasses manufacture that provides customizable shades, fairly durable (I do not plan to market them as high quality but fashionable and disposable) and at a reasonable wholesale price in which I can make a small profit.
It may be challenging to find a wholesaler that provides what I'm looking for and doesn't require a massive minimum quantity but if anyone has any tips or has some experience, I'd be forever grateful and would love to gather any knowledge I can. As I said, this is a learning experience that I look forward to whether it provides a loss or profit.
