Which companies stand to gain the most from the lifting of the US oil export ban? Small-cap players in Eagle Ford? Is the lifting of the ban enough to lessen the threat of bankruptcy for little debt-heavy companies?
10 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
No.

oil was being refined into its components and then exported. All this does does is transfer some money from the refiners to the producers. But it isn't that much couple bucks a barrel maybe.
>>
>>1019262
"Oil exploration and production companies that are willing to ship overseas will be the largest beneficiaries of the ban's removal. ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP) and NuStar Energy LP (NYSE: NS) are slated to complete the loading of the first tanker of freely traded US crude oil on December 31.

The two are not the only ones planning to ramp up exports now that the ban has been lifted, though. Other companies like Enterprise Products Partners LP (NYSE: EPD) are also planning to sell abroad.

However, none of these firms are likely to see a major jump in revenues now that the ban has been removed as demand across the globe remains suppressed."

how do you deal with having a full time job. Let me explain- i'm working in an office, the job is great. low stress, great money, I like the work.

but now **I don't have any time left!** I just wish there were more hours in the day cause I get home from work and want to do a whole bunch of other stuff too but the job is taking up my whole life.

i can't be the only one who feels this way. what do you guys think about this? do you get used to it after a while? im not planning on quitting or anything but I want to know about how people with full time jobs deal with and manage not having any time for themselves.

Ayyyyy you got it. This is the rest of your life.

Save up money then have time off.

However there are people who are willing to not have time off and companies will obviously favour these people.

Hey /biz/

I am a /fit/zen who is new here. Business and finance is a new interest to me so where better to go for information on the subject than 4chan!

For all new people on /biz/ let's get an information thread with all the best books, info images, links etc. to share information.

Starting out I have found the following two books to be great:

- I will teach you to be rich by Ramit Sethi
- 4 hour work week by Tim Ferris

The first one is GOAT for personal finance as it has all the most relevant information for 20-30 year olds.
4 hour work week contians a deal of bull shit, however there are lots of small tips on starting a business and improve your productivity!

>4 hour work week
more like 120 hour work week if you want to earn decent money

also the Intelligent Investor by Graham is pretty good, and the updated version is good too.
>>
>>1018864
Early Retirement Extreme by jacob lund fisker, now with this book its not a "easy peazy any schmuck" type read - it'll take some concentration, also you don't have to actually have to want early retirement

what this book does which I think is beautiful is it shows you just what your spending is costing you and introduces a systems approach to your life and finances, I think its a must read because even if you're frugal by modern standards you're actually still very much a consumerist whore - eye opening

image related, left to right on the x axis we have % of income after taxes saved (and invested) , y axis (up and down) years you have to work with that savings rate to retire, the colored curves represent a return on your savings (investments) - you could presume about 7% by just having stocks in an index fund (like vanguard) - keep in mind you'd be reinvesting 2-3% to hedge against inflation

google "firecalc" for more on this

the numbers dont lie though, think about it reight now - how much of your income do you save and invest? is it none? it is isnt it? now look at the chart - see how you'll never be able to stop wage slaving?

Just opened a Lending Club account with a few hundred bucks.
Heard many good things about LC. Any tips to cut the chance of loss? Probably going to stick with investing in A/B notes.
13 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Seems like an easy way to lose your money. What is the appeal? Are they somehow securing these loans or something.
>>
>>1018850
The key when starting out is to diversify by buying as many notes at the minimum investment ($25). This helps in case one or two of your notes you invested in default.

Also I've been on LC since 2009 when I discovered it. I am earning an average annual return of 7.24% before taxes, which I am satisfied with. I invest in mostly A and B rated notes with lenders having good credit history. Also you can write off any default notes on your taxes as capital losses in case you are worried about that.
>>
>>1019757
I don't use this sorcery but this seems sound. 7.24% is a pretty decent average annualized return, depending on the level of risk you're taking on (I'm guessing not as high since A/B notes sounds safe ish?).
What's your default rate ?

Why do accountants get such a bad rap when people in finance are idolized even though you end up doing the same job if you work at a bank?

because accounting is boring as fuck and finance is pictures as a wolf of wall street fuck every pussy do coke type of job. In reality you both stare at an excel spreadsheet all day and try not to kill yourself. source, former accounting major
>>
>>1018096
accounting is boring as fuck, but it's a relatively simple job, no?
>>
>>1018098
It's only boring if you make it boring.

In a mid office position, accountants, finance majors, math majors, stats majors all do very similar jobs.

Why is getting bitcoins so fucking tedious and difficult?

I've never bought bitcoins before because every service wanted some information I didn't want to provide, but now I have a legitimate purpose for wanting them to pay for an online service and holy fuck is it making me jump through hoops.

The first annoyance was to even find a service I thought was acceptable, but none of them are, I just had to settle for the least intrusive one I thought I could find.
I chose coinbase, and then I went to link my bank account.
It wants my fucking back account login and password are you fucking kidding me?
So then I have to search for a way around that, and I find a not well advertised way to forgo providing the password and just give them account and routing numbers. Then I have to wait 3-5 business days (it takes all 5) to verify the bank account.

>Alright, finally my account is verified let's buy some fuckin bitcoins and get this service paid for
Nope, you can only buy $100 max so I'll have to do it on 2 separate days of $100 and $50. Oh but it tells me I can lift this limit by providing additional info like last 4digs of social security, some other security questions, and linking a credit card. So I do it, it doesn't fucking work, it still says $100 max. Fucking whatever I'll just do it in 2 days then.
So I go and select to buy the first payment and it fucking tells me I have to wait 6 days for it to come in

What the fuck is even the point of bitcoin then? With all the damn hoops and info I have to provide to get any I'm sure someone out there knows exactly what I'm buying by now.

So much for anonymous online payments. What a load of crap.

It only sounds confusing untill you actually use it

www.circle.com
Use your credit card, start with 300 weekly limit, eventually build to 3,000 only takes seconds.
>>
>>1016879
Well it's too late now.

I can't cancel the $100 pending payment because apparently it takes 6 days for the bitcoin blockchain to send me 0.2307 BTC
(I know that's not true, but coinbase only offers a single explanation for why I can't cancel pending purchases, and that's it).

Real Estate General

I'm starting this as a thing.
First topic I want to ask anons about is:

Buying a Duplex and renting out half while living inside the other half. I'm led to believe that if pulled off correctly I could be living in a home rent free. A man free of his parents basement and able to live the NEET stock lifestyle at this new home.
basically, this is a great investing strategy that I would like to discuss on how to effectively pull off this sort of investment.

I was in absorbed into a partnership to own 50% of a retail electronics and gaming store but since have left and started my own electronics/computer repair store. My best advise is stay AWAY from franchising unless you have a lot of cash to throw into it and want to be your own boss and still have to play by someone else rules.

I make shit tier wages right now because we are in our first year. Before I was making roughly 60k only working about 10 hours a week.

What are /biz/'s stock picks for 2016?

Hard mode: No shitty penny stocks; you won't "pump" anything by promoting it on this board, newfags. Stick to spamming Facebook.

I'll start by saying I'm rather bullish on marijuana stocks in 2016, although I haven't picked any specific ones yet.
>>
>>1019165

How is it legal for there to be marijuana stocks on the market?
>>
>>1019194
Marijuana itself is not a traded commodity. But many companies that produce medical marijuana and legal consumables are traded. Seattle and Denver are big markets.
