Let's talk about dividends guys. Is it worth doing if I have around 5000 to put into a dividend yielding company? If I were to do this, I'm looking at a long term 20 year investment. Can someone explain the issue with companies that pay dividends of onwards of 20-40%?

Hey guys, an Options nob here. Have a question.

Let's say... you have an Algorithm, that would tell you, daily, if the APPL stock is going to go up or down by at least let's say... 0.51 cents.
Also this algorithm is never wrong.

For example... That algorithm told me that tomorrow APPL's stock is going to go up at least 0.51 cents...

How do you exploit that? Would you buy a ton of APPL call options ATM or OTM?
That algo doesn't exist btw...

OTM. The stock will move more. The risk is the unknown which you've magically removed.

There is a story about a man who managed to outsource his entire job for a tenth of his salary.

Who knows if its true, supposedly he got caught.
>>
there was a book which chronicled several cases similar to this (but not the getting caught part) called 'the 4 hour work week by tim ferris.

one of the guys outsourced his relationship with his wife. composed emails to her and ordered her flowers of his own accord.

I have been working as a server for 2 weeks now and have been "training" But that basically included polishing hundreds of silverwear and doing ridiculous busy work. I love the manager that hired me, she is so great and sweet but another guy that works there named Luke who manages and serves, does both is a real fucking cunt for no reason. If I ever ask questions on something he gets pissed off like he doesnt want to answer. He is just a piece of shit in general, and we have had words but i feel like im a hot handle and id blow up and just beat the shit out of him right there. I mean I know I wouldnt do that but I really want to and its only been 2 weeks. I am the sweetest nicest person youll meet but I dislike being disrespected by a cunt for no fallible reason. I am new to restaurants and such, how do you deal with such things? I work at a country club and its a nice joint and i like most of the workers but I keep having to "train" under the same guy. He just makes me incredibly angry, and if i was to leave the job I dont have a fucking plan E or F or any of that shit. I do want to get into bartending though, and I already have my bartending license thing for 5 years. But apparently I have to serve first. Fuck this man, wtf

You sound like a whiny bitch. I'd be mean to you too. Being a server requires zero skill and intelligence, you are easily replaced.

Airbnb General.

Last month i began using Airbnb again (as a host). Anybody got some good tips on setting a good price? Also general tips for increasing stars and rent income.

Some tips i have:
>Be very specific about the apartment and what is in it.
>Reply within 1 hour
>Ask the renter if they need something before they arrive. Somebody wanted a map of Copenhagen and i just picked one up for free. 5 stars for you.

Just became star host so im gonna increase prices 10-15%. Right now i rent out for 119 euros a night for the entire apartment and 89 euros for 2 rooms in my apartment (connected). All tax free income famelam.

Hosting since February 2015 here
Set your price based on the average price of listings of the same size within 10km in each direction. Try to offer more than they have at the same price.
Write your listing in as many languages as you can, don't use Google translate though.
Never allow pets, they will eventually dirty the house and the stains never fully wash out.
Make sure to check out every facility in the area and try to strike deals with businesses.
Be always ready to help guests I'd they ask for something you can provide easily.
If possible avoid hosting Chinese people as they tend to destroy places and behave like monkeys in general.

Can we have a /biz/ dresscode thread?
We all know the way you look directly affects how people perceive you. So it's best to develop a good sense of style for business outfit.
Share your wardrobe, give suggestions, ask questions.
I personally think it shouldn't be too flashy. Keep it sober, too often I see people who seem to think standing out like a stop sign makes them also stand out as stylish.
Also it seems like shoes and tie are the most important accessories. Oh and the watch

Its true if you pretend he recieved all of his dad's money at once in the 80s, instantly liquidated the company he helped his dad build, and then lived in a cardboard box and didn't spend any money and didn't live a life of luxury and didn't go through 2 costly divorces. Other than that yeah he would have made more money in the indexes

>>1312747
Yes, but it takes lots of money to build a luxury hotel business..by doing so he has invested in his families future for generations to come

>fill out job application
>somebody emails me with a time and a date for an in-person or phone interview
>Respond with "Yes, [TIME] on [DATE] works for me" and other polite bullshit
>HR person never responds to my reply with a confirmation
>for phone interviews, I don't get called at the time we agreed-upon, so it's not like they just accept my reply (not autistic enough to show up to an in-person interview without a confirmation email)

What the fuck is going on here? Am I supposed to slob their knob in my fucking acceptance email? Are HR people just lazy, inconsiderate fucks? God damn I'm pissed.

>>
>>1312717
I can't not show up to a phone interview, and when I tell them I'm available at a time they themselves actually selected, they never call me then anyways.

So it goes
>are you available at 3 on Wednesday for a phone interview?
>Yes, I am. 3 on Wednesday is fine for me.
>[no response]

And then 3 on Wednesday comes and no phone call.

Are there any adults with well-diversified portfolios on this board (I know a few are on here) who have included crypto in the 10% of their portfolio that is dedicated to speculation? Crypt-shilling neets need not respond.

Also, are capital gains realized by the value appreciation of crypto coins taxes like traditional capital gains, or is it caught in some loophole where gains can be hidden?

I have a few grand leftover in my portfolio and I'm looking into untraditional investments. Obviously I'm not going to buy into this bubble, but I'm looking for general knowledge from true investors.

You could try investing in a bitcoin etf, if you dont want the slight hassle of owning actual bitcoin.
>>

No, I rather not own meme money based around the internet drug trade
>>
If you want to allocate a small portion of your portfolio (10% is pushing it, to be honest) to speculative investments, that's fine. Pick some under-performing sector, or a bio-tech filer, or an emerging market.

Don't piss your money away on a blind dice roll.

If you're smart enough to do the right thing with 90% of your portfolio, you should be smart enough to avoid the wrong things with the other 10%.

Headed to a career fair in a couple hours, anyone have tips? e.g. how to approach people, how to phrase my introduction, what kinds of questions to ask, how to get contact info
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Most career fair booths are glorified advertising.

If all they do is spew talking points and keep telling you to go to their website to apply, just move on.
>>
If you haven't already applied to the place don't bother waiting in line. Going blind into a fair and going up to a company with a resume doesn't land a job 99.9% of the time.

This is the general guide for career fairs

>find out about them in advance, list of employers, location, layout of tables, etc
>find employers there you want to apply for
>go to their website and apply
>make sure you tailor resume for the position, not your mass produced resume
>go to employers you applied for and give them tailored resumes
>shake hands, eye contact, be dressed nice, etc
>tell them you already applied, spit a few words about what you read about the company/job (make sure research is great for this, this is one of the most important parts of the process) and how you are interested. Maybe bring up past jobs or experiences in classes. Don't bull shit this. Keep it legit.
>get business card, shake hand say thank you
>add that person on linked in

Do this with every company you are interest in at the fair. Also bring some extra generic resumes in case you feel like talking to others (I always did for practice)
>get there before the fair starts if you can, usually there are long ass lines before they start

A lot of it is research and applying beforehand. Going into a career fair blind is NOT recommended. It can work, just not the best chances.

If you don't get a job think about what you learned and how to improve next time. Most universities throw a fair or two a semester for their students and every major city metro area has a fair or two a month.
