Hey guys, 18 year old Britbong here.
Today was my last day of schools & exams, and I'm now having a gap year. Within this year I plan to save £10,000, in which a friend and myself plan to put a deposit down on a house prior to going to university.
So if you had 1 year and 2 months, with around £5,000 capital to start with, what would you do?
Looking for general advice really.
Current plan is to work at job (got one which allows me to 'lightly run' a business and pays £10 an hour.)
I'm also trying to gain work experience in high-finance and investment banks, in which I'd like to progress to eventually.
Are there any particular skills, activities, clubs etc I should look into?

Anyone have any real tips to save money? I'll start with stuff I found helpful:

Well yeah, I'm assuming you're not doing retarded shit like spending $100's per month on restaurants when your monthly income is <$3k/month and such but really your focus shouldn't be on saving money but rather earning more.

Impossible. Earning $100 a month is incredibly easy, you could literally mow 5 lawns/shovel 5 driveways per month to make that.
You could work 2.5 hours more per week at your $10/hr job to earn that.
You could drive for uber part-time, you could sell ice creams, tons of stuff basically.

I would like to know your guys' thoughts on funding growth with debt. How much capital did you have to start your business? How much debt did you take on? Did you chug along funding all your growth and expansion from within or take on debt to grow the business?
I'm personally starting a business with a couple hundred dollars and $1,000 credit line. It's a service related business (essentially home maintenance and repair) so my overhead is pretty low, but I need things to grow (t-shirts, bigger tools, advertising.) I'm unsure about how much of this stuff to wait on and fund with sales and how much to swipe.

Low voltage electrical here. Been missing this general. Started business with 5-6k I think. Only credit was 20k for the van. But that was a personal loan. Long since paid off by the company. Don't get too heavily in debt without much of a client base.
