Why do people always suggest that I spam my resume all over the place when the only jobs available are ones I know I am physically and mentally unable to do (Like fastfood and retail store jobs) because of my anxiety? Shouldn't I only send it to ones I feel I could actually do?

does anyone else still keep a penny jar for all their change? I rarely use my card expect for stuff like grocery shopping and big purchases, I still withdraw cash from the ATM for most smaller purchases like lunch and have 3 full jars with coppers & silvers.

I'm with one of the top 10 biggest banks in my country and I was very lucky to get a job there some months ago, I guess.
The problem is, it's HR and I hate it. Given the fact that banking as a sector is going down the drain since the crisis, I really, really should be happy right now, because payment is ok. Not great, but considering live expenses here in the city, I'm doing good. (fun fact: There's virtually no bonus.)
This really puzzles me, because everything I heard about HR here on the board is true:
- It is circlejerking, every problem is self-created
- everyone behaves quite absurd
- 90% wimmen who talk way too much, most are really not too bright
- there are no challenges, I feel like my brain dries out and shrivels
- everyone talks about everyone behind their backs
- I suffer from knowing that HR just wastes money earned by front office (I pray every day not having to talk to someone from front office, because of self disgust and hatred about the harmful role HR plays for the total revenue of the bank)
Since HR is back office I'm practically as near to investment banking as is some piece of bread. I really, really would like to change the department and here it goes:
Is there any chance for me to get as far away from HR as possible and at the same time come a little more closer to front office in a modern universal bank? Is there anything beyond revision, compliance and HR out there for me?
Also: If anyone would like to know something about HR/banking, I'm happy to help.

What should I do for a living? I'm a Business student, but I don't really have a passion for it. My grandfather was a very successful business dude. Worth a couple million, I don't really know. He has two homes worth a million each, I don't know how rich you have to be to do that. I grew up pretty normal and live a pretty normal life. My parents never even finished college, and don't make a ton of money.
Besides having my school 100% paid for, he doesn't spoil me like he could. He grew up poor, and doesn't really spend money on anything besides his wife. I guess I could ask him for stuff, but to be honest I'm intimidated by him.
I feel like a pleb, but one day I might actually have a lot of money. What do? My grandfather really hasn't given me much advice on the matter. He's really private about that kinda stuff, at least around my family. I dunno if he's gonna leave me any money, I mean I assume so, but that's not an assumption I want to hold. If you were in my position what would you do? I have no money, not many prospects, but I don't have to worry about paying for school, or going homeless.

So I read in the other thread about shorting, you loan stocks off someone hoping that they'll go down. I get how the financials work of it but what does the owner of the stocks get out of it? why would he want to loan you stocks? maybe an admin fee but what, is there a cost over the months or something that you're doing it as part of the loan? and how do you set it up, just through your broker?
so you loan the stocks and they plummet, why have they got to get them back off you? wouldn't it be better if they just "forgot" about it and not give you the cash back for it?

like most things, because the person lending you the stock is getting something out of it - you're paying for borrowing the stock.
generally, the people that are lending the instrument you'll be borrowing are long term holders - actuaries, penson funds, investment trusts, etc. They've got it sat there, accruing, dividends, etc going nowt. You wanna borrow it, sure - 5% please.
and that's about it
no offense, if you're a small time person, just dipping in for a look, maybe you want to look at contracts for difference - you're basically making a 1-2-1 bet with someone that the value of something will change and you pay/get paid on the delta.

The brokerage is the one getting paid, the owner of the stock (you, if you hold longs) gets nothing.
