What's the best stock database thing?
I use finviz to screen but it only tells you after it isn't good for finding out past trends or anything.
What's a database that will let me sort stocks by specific parameters. Say I wanted all stocks that went up 20% within 40% minutes in the past 20 days or something like that. Anything like this?
Then I also got all the info about what was going on at any specific time frame that I want, not just current, and I can see if it was overbought or oversold or volatile, all that stuff.

Anything comprehensive like this?

Not sure, I think bloomberg terminals had something similar to what you're talking about but those are expensive

Side note on the pic, I always find that climb funny with Marissa Mayer kicked out. It's been fun watching her destroy Yahoo

physical commodities (gold silver copper oil etc) comprise very often around 25% of the best performing portfolios. rest is usually split through stocks, bonds, etc.

buying gold and silver shouldn't really be thought of as an investment, although they certainly are, and some people are very autistic with how hard they insist that they arent. essentially, holding physical precious metals should be thought of first and foremost as insurance against the (especially in this day and age) insanely fucking crazy financial markets. and capital gains are a cherry on top: if we do see 2008 v2 we will probably see gold and silver go to the moon like they did then.

personally, i dont have any copper, and i'd say silver is a bit of a better buy nowadays, based purely on the fact that it's hovering around what 65:1 with gold? and historical average was 14:1? i'm not sure myself of whether it's a sign of a gigantic change in the market or just evidence of ongoing asset manipulation, but either way, i think silver is a better buy.

tl:dr, help you or hurt you in the long run? absolutely help you, you're on the right path. stay diverse, maybe try your hand at the markets or memecoins if you like. accumulate capital, try to put it to some use.. do something to raise yourself above working at mcdonalds.. you can always go to a community college cheap for some engineering major and be set.

/biz/raelis, just like most boards on 4chan, are not very skilled at their intended topic. You're honestly better asking financial advice in other boards, unfortunately I'm not sure which one would be better for that.

Now, as for gold and silver, right now isn't exactly a good time to buy it. Both are incredible expensive (for recent values) and is unlikely it will go higher. If I have to bet, I would put money on silver because:

- There's a high demand for silver for industrial applications.
- There's a lot of speculation about the real value for silver, as some claim they are being artificially remained cheap.

However, even if the later case is true and not just /x/ babbling, it would take some time to reach the fabled $50+ per ounce. So, if you're planning on making a treasure that would double or triple its value after some decades, yeah, silver and gold is a good investment.

However, in a short term, is unlikely either will be profitable. They will hover around the current prices because there's a lot of fear and doubts after the brexit, and once the rest of the world understands it was fucking nothing (or just adapt to it), then they will drop value back to the average from the previous year. Maybe a bit higher, but definitely not close to the current prices.

Personal advice:

1- Invest on mining companies. Look after those companies working on metals directly related to the electronics. Silver, copper, cobalt, and so on.
2- When the price drops, buy some gold and silver, and hoard it very securely. Don't invest on paper gold or silver, they are literally a scam by selling more titles than what physical gold or silver exists.
3- If there's a general or more than one thread on the /biz/ catalogue, stay away from it. Every single time, when there's hype here, is because some shills have fooled the /biz/raelis into thinking its ponzi scheme is a good and legit invest. Examples: ethereum, trumpcoin, hashocean, etc.

>making a treasure that would double or triple its value after some decades

that's fucking awful investment anon!

1.1^20 ~ 6 not 3, dollar average investment in index funds will not triple your money but take it to the fucking moon in decades.

if you don't triple your money with metals in a couple of years don't even fucking consider it.

I actually did the math and believe it or not you would only need a billion. And that's on what I wanted which included a private island, a mega yacht, a private plane, a private heli, like 5 mansions
>>
>>1377992
>mansion
mansion where? half a million won't buy you a studio in NYC or SFBay, but will get you mansion in middle of no where Idaho or Montana

I'm 30 yo. Is this solid distribution for index funds?

VTI - 60%
VXUS - 30%
BND - 10%

I will invest 2x a year and rebalance 1x a year. I will reinvest dividends. That is about it.

Real Forex thread. Major pair landscape changed quite a bit since Brexit. I'm suggesting those familiar with the Forex post insights, outlooks, charts and pair picks.

I'll start with my most basic stance on the big 4 currencies since the Brexit. Generally I build positions with a 5-30 day outlook.
USD: Slightly bullish for pairs with tight interest rate swaps. Usually avoid pairs with loose swaps.
EUR: Bearish for pairs with loose interest rate swaps. Usually avoid other pairs.
GBP: Avoid except bullish against JPY and EUR.
JPY: Bearish.

My biggest problem is I stay too far ahead of the curve. Since Brexit I've netted 5% all shorting the Yen.

ABOUT TRUMPCOIN:
During Donald Trump’s campaign towards becoming the next President of the United States, Trumpcoin has been set up as a campaign donation project. 200,000 Trumpcoins ( the so-called Trump Fund) have been set aside for this specific purpose.

Trumpcoin is a cryptocurrency that trades on numerous exchanges online. The price of Trumpcoin is dictated by the supply and demand of traders on these exchanges, much like a stock market. Why did the US dollar start going down when the S&P 500 started going back up?

Why the fuck would US share market indexes going up make their dollar weaker against other dollars?

Is there something I'm missing here???

Earnings have been down for four straight quarters yet indexes are reaching all time highs. Think about that. Why would the index go up if the value of these companies are going down? It's because the dollar is losing value.

Thanks for the advice, anon.

Is scamming frequent in freelance? How does one avoid getting scammed? Does anybody have any suggestions as to which freelance platform is the best for beginners?
>>
>>1383023
I'm a freelance web dev but I don't use freelance websites, I don't see the point in engaging in a race to the bottom. It's not sustainable and it doesn't scale and you never get to meet your clients (can never build real trust).

As >>1382901 said.

Always have a contract that specifies how much is being paid, when it's being paid and what exactly they are paying for (including how much amends they are allowed).

Network, find events to go to and hand out business cards, tell them you're good at what you do etc. You have to do this unless you want to slave away on those freelance sites.

I can answer any other questions.

biz, im getting really into the cryptocoin shit. Has any of you made real 4, 5 or 6 digit profit off of this? is it possible?

Is a low investment enough to test and make a decent investment or should i throw a chunk in and test the waters that way?

Should I expect a lot of loss on this or are there some decent ways to minimize any losses?

Any good starter tips and what are some cryptocurrencies to really be looking at besides the biases advice here?
>invests $100 in trumpcoins.

also like to say, its legit fun to analyse these different currencies and see what they're about, what they stand for, analyse the development team etc. its fucking game. i'm a complete noob so if i am making some remarks unrelated to actual investing into this, apologies.
>>
>>1382870
i think you need to research the rise of ethereum? that would probably give you an impression of how crypto can come from nothing and rise pretty quickly.

also, if you did the math (which i havent), then possibly if you invest a little in many different coins you might have a higher chance of one's price skyrocketing giving you those high percentage gains. thats something i wanna look into

How do bonds work? Does anyone here trade bonds? Could anyone give me some bond trading tips?

So most bonds are not traded on an exchange, so the price is set by dealer. So what stops the dealer from randomly jacking up the price one day and margin calling me just for lulz?

In fact how can I even tell who their dealer is in this kind of case?

Is there anything specific I should watch out for? Or any common newbie mistakes?
16 posts and 1 images submitted.

Unless you're paying a broker to deal on your behalf, you're gonna get your ass handed to you trying to trade individual bonds. Just buy a bond fund like a normal person.
>>
>>1382814
How exactly will I "get my ass handed to me."

Also do you say this from experience?
>>
>>1382815
Huge volumes of bond sales happen in private transactions and quasi-closed markets. The best deals get made between firms with established trading desks that deal in high volume. An individual buyer like you isn't even going to be able to get access to but a tiny fraction of potential transactions, and you'll get the least favorable pricing possible.
