Why is there never any actual good advice on here for generating income and every thread is about some miserable poor loser who can't get laid asking how to make money?

someone that doesn't know how to do something isn't actually a good judge of advice on how to do that thing.

>Why is there never any actual good advice on here for generating income
There's good advice here, but usually you need money to make more money.
Nowadays very few people can be successful without coming from a supporting family or without good financial background.

>and every thread is about some miserable poor loser who can't get laid asking how to make money?

Once upon a time when /biz/ was conjured up as a place for crypto discussions to go and stop bugging other boards, there were all sorts of professionals, entrepreneurs, and interesting people who came to /biz/. It wasn't great, but it was better than it was now.

Most of those people left as the tide of shitposting, "how do I turn $10 into a million", and crypto-shilling became unbearable.

They invest your unsettled funds after a trade. It's also pretty basic software.
> When is it coming to my country?
Probably never. They only have plans on an Australian beta.
> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
If it takes more than 3 days, try emailing their support. They are very good.
> Is this the place to pump and dump and/or shill a worthless stock?
No, go to stocktwats or suckingalpha (you'll find plenty of it here anyway, though)
> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, am I being jewed?
No, that would actually be illegal. Robinhood graphs are just shit and only show you an average, not-really-realtime price. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.
> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
thinkorswim is bretty gud if you want to go open a second account with real broker.
Otherwise you should be using stockcharts.com, finviz, or Yahoo/Google finance for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

No, it's not applicable for limited margin accounts (instant), and if you don't have instant, RH won't let you buy with unsettled funds.

Yes, download an android emulator. Setup is extremely easy. http://www.memuplay.com/

Why do all rich successful people have a history of drug addiction and criminal records? Is that a prerequisite to becoming successful /biz/?

All successful business owners, at least those who build their own companies, have become successful by taking risks and challenging authorities.
>>
>>1520927
Business owners don't have to answer to anyone because they make their own money.
And people who can't get a job often become business owners.

Entrepreneurship = freedom.

I spend ~$100 a week on groceries but I'm away from home 5 days a week and that also includes cigarettes, deodorant, body wash, etc. Shouldn't ever have to spend more than $50-60 a week per person on food no matter what your income is.

Because ETH is a shitcoin.

Devcon 2 ended 2 days ago. It wasn't a disappointment, but there wasn't much to get hype over.

>european bank using the testnet
>ms developing oracles

It's only Devcon 2 though. Development takes a lot of time. Vitalik said he's looking forward to Devcon 8.

PoS is what's needed to really pump the price of eth. Casper is hinted to be within a year.

Does anybody seriously not evade tax?

I'm saying, I used to sell lots of shit on eBay,
Not dropship or anything, just stuff I owned.

Sometimes I made a profit, usually not, as depreciation, secondhand, etc

It probably evened out.

I used to think it was just accepted.
But then I started reading up on tax law because I am now getting into biz and finance, so it's part of all that.

So, it turns out I probably evaded tax, unknowingly.

It wasn't regular income, and wasn't 'business' as I see it. How would anyone even declare that?

Record all sales, then call the tax office every month?

Last time I checked you weren't required to claim sales on eBay against your taxes unless you make over $25,000 per year on one eBay account. You are allowed to have more than one eBay account. I think the limit is 8 but I'm not sure. I only have 2.

What is the /biz/ ranking of majors from a financing perspective? In other words, what are the best majors for someone who wants to become a banker, businessman, economist etc.?
151 posts and 27 images submitted.
>>
I vote accounting, because that's what I'm doing.

Economics is super simple. My future ex-wife has a masters degree in economics. Unfortunately she's only found work tutoring economics. She's getting her PHD next, because it's supposedly required to get work being an "economist." I'm not going to say I disagree with her, but I don't see it as being the most lucrative business degree. The highest math utilized in PHD economics is apparently calc III? 8 years of school in a supposed math/logic oriented science without going beyond multi-variable calculus seems insane to me.

I'm not really sure what they teach in finance, but I'd imagine a portion of it (the larger part) would be built through research and experience, rather then education.

Accounting, because of all of it's anal discipline (not hard, just rules and framework), seems like the best option to enter the corporate end of business. At least if you don't make mistakes, earn your CPA/CMA, and act diligent, you should be working towards something prosperous. There's also a decent demand for accountants considered how imperative it is in modern business to have some sort of accountant, even if outsourced to a firm.

I won't chime in too hard on "business" degrees. I've seen alot of em, and I don't have much hope for those gentlemen.

What are some boring stocks you like?

I have too much tech and big brand stuff like Disney in my portfolio. I need some more "plain" options like gas or mining companies, I just don't know where to start.

For example, I love Waste Management ($WM). Trash is recession proof and isn't going anywhere due to new tech.

There's always commodities.
>>
You should look into utilities.
I like $NRG because it's pretty volatile, but there's safer plays like $PNW. I'd suggest double checking any of these to make sure they're not significantly invested in coal. Coal has been getting assblasted by regulation costs and it's increasingly becoming a huge burden.

I am about to become a wagie.

In college and I just got a job tutoring poor kids at the local elementary.
Still need to submit a couple of forms, but otherwise, I'm in.

Making $10 an hour, which is pretty noice, but it's from my Work-Study thing, so I can only make so much before I hit an imposed limit.

Anyway, I have the option to have the cash directly deposited into my bank account, or to have it deducted from my tuition.

I am thinking of going the direct deposit route.
Ideally, I want to be able to use the money I make to invest, and subsequently pay off more of my student loan quicker.

Is this at all reasonable for a freshie with no prior experience trading, even with crypto?
I heard bonds are pretty easy to get into. I'm also taking Econ, if that changes anything.

Also, general tips and thoughts about being a wagie.
All appreciated.

Go pro shares are quite low currently.
Only last year they were in the 80's I believe now they're around 17 or something.
With the release of their drone and their new camera next month do you think it is a good idea to buy some stock quick?
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I think GoPro is a risky bet. They lack diversification. They tried to make cameras into a lifestyle, but that didn't really work so they aren't differentiated from any other sports camera. And any other electronics maker can enter and steal market share.

I'd also wager that the introduction of the selfie stick probably hurt them considerably since it introduces a new perspective.
>>
You should have bought it before the announcement. That's when they spiked, and then rescinded. The only thing that will propel them up is very large sales for fourth quarter, and it won't ever go back to the levels it was at after the IPO.
>>
>>1521539
What do you think about larger GoPros that can be strapped on any device or vehicle (cars, trains, mining trucks, tossed into forest fire from above etc) that would do a lot of quantitative measurements as well?

What are some quick services I can learn and do on the weekend?

I heard Uber is good. What else? Do people take messages at home? What about teaching kids about the bible?

Basically, what are some side gigs I can do other than my main job?

Ok, /biz/, I need financial advice. Here's my situation:

>be 26 yrs old
>wife 28
>work in tech consulting, make 72k year
>should be up to 85k by end of the year
>wife in food service, makes 32k year
>have 14k in savings
>no debt
>just inherited 120k from family after marriage
>lease an apt for 14 hundred a month

The 120k is in an investment fund that does really well, but I hate having so much money in the markets. My gut says buy a home for 150k, lower my monthly payment to appx 800 a month, let my wife quit her shit job, and start her own catering business.

Thoughts? Better ideas on how to invest that 120k?

She's pretty cool with it. She's not some uppity feminist who thinks she deserves to be paid more for her dumb career decisions. She's very much aware that women are happiest raising children, cooking, and running the household while men make money.
