What's you're feelings on the Economic System?
1. Shadow Government = Finance Sector
2. Politicians = Puppets that are controlled by Wall St.
3. "Free Market" = enslaving everyone and stealing their assets for Billionaires
4. Globalization = group of world leaders enslaving 7 billion people
5. Media = mechanisms for the Billionaires to control the minds of their slaves
Inflation = the mechanism of making the dollar have value by lending and creating debt
Technology: efficient, sustainability and the other sector strong enough to take down the Corrupt Finance Sector
Your thoughts:
fuck off communist

It's a shame than conspiracy theorists come up with such poorly worded analogs. I think that's a huge reason why they become "conspiracy theories" rather than something that can be openly discussed without sounding like a quack. Let me give you some tips:
It's no secret that transnational corporations, and huge multinationals have massive influence over governments around the world. Instead of referring to shadow governments and puppets, call it the "permanent government". The government you elect can be called the "transient government".
Instead of vaguely referring to some secretive group of world leaders talk about the IMF, the World Bank and the World Trade Organization. These groups quite literally enforce globalization and free trade upon everyone. They write up rules for countries to follow that are written by and for Wall Street for the benefit of industrial heavyweights and at the expense of the little people. It could be called economic terrorism if you were feeling rhetorical.
I could go on but you are better of reading some books.
Paul Hellyer and Joseph Stiglitz have some good books on how grossly immoral our current economic system is.
>>1538997
Did you know that all it takes to have a "conspiracy theory" is to simply offer a different narrative than the state? It's that simple.

My 54 year old dad got ~$50,000 in a vanguard retirement fund in his divorce. He's being told that he can't contribute to it, though because it was from my moms company or some shit, so at most he'll have like $100,000 by 71 since he can't contribute to it at all. He wants to buy a house now. Should he take the money out? It doesn't seem worthwhile to keep it in.
>>1538619
I don't understand why he can't take money out and put it in a different fund that he can contribute to.
Not everyone lives to 71. He should just use it. At 54 he should already have a good retirement fund. If not, he should just buy a dumpster to live in instead of a house.
What's stopping him from opening a new retirement account with another company?
Sounds like he isn't very smart.

Why can't we talk simpler so that everyone will understand, even the most retards at the company? Why do we need all these terminologies and sophisticated language to describe a simple acts like "HR is about preventing the company from getting sued form its employees." instead of all that inspirational bullshit businesses use to seem that they care about your wellbeing and your happiness?

an example from a 2 minutes google search:
>Our principles guide us to make better decisions as we all work together to deliver our promise. The principles encourage us to be responsive to one another – and that means being more flexible and innovative to make things better. Sticking to our principles means working as one team, being transparent, supportive and decisive.
Does anyone actually believe that any company in this world cares about John or Tim, more than they care about profit? You must be pretty stupid not to see behind the deception they make their employees believe.

What is /biz/'s position on drug legalization?
I'm against drug legalization, even in the case of marijuana. The standard economic case that the cartels would disappear if we legalized makes sense to me, but looking at the oil market, oil is "legalized" and yet you still have institutions like OPEC. Unless every nation in the world legalizes, wouldn't the cartels still continue to exist?
>>1537945
I'm absolutely for it. Your oil example is poor, a better comparison would be the prohibition of alcohol. During that period, the mafia had control of the illegal alcohol trade and profited immensely. I did not stop people drinking alcohol, even though cases of alcohol poisoning increased by the hundreds. No drug law will ever make drugs disappear. In the Philippines they are murdering people who use drugs
http://www.oregonlive.com/today/index.ssf/2016/10/in_the_philippines_addicts_liv.html
and people are still doing them. It only makes sense for drugs to legalized, regulated and taxed, not only could it result in a massive amount of business, it would also free up police resources and save money.
>>1537975
Yeah I've heard the prohibition example, but why is the OPEC example flawed?
The cartels have heavy interference with state governments- whether it's the Mexican ones IRL or the Colombians in Narcos, they usually buy out the politicians, which is why you end up with them entering such large scales.
What concerns me especially are the Mexican drug cartels, which have effectively become states within states, like here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPEfArQU7tc
The issue to me seems like, if America legalizes, the cartels still have huge markets beyond America. Further, if the cartels are going to be outcompeted, why hasn't OPEC been outcompeted by other oil producers? You can say it's because the oil gets produced in Saudi Arabia, but there's a reason why coca gets grown in Colombia and not in some redneck's backyard or in some California redwood.
Just my two cents on the topic (OP here).
>>1537975
>free up police resources and save money
Not when revenue is generated from as much as a quarter of a pill or a fraction of a leaf from a popcorn bud.
Are you ready for the worst day of the stock market, ever?
Something has to happen big time soon. I think the dreaded correction is coming. Deutsche Bank right now is the trigger:

Why are banks not ponzi schemes?
No bank has anywhere near the capital required to pay all depositors back if they wished to take their money out all at once. Every bank in existence today would collapse in the event of a bank run (without a bail out of course).
How is this different to ponzi schemes that collapse when too many investors want to pull their money out?
Why is one organisation a scam and the other "legit"?
Not even trolling here, convince me banks are not a giant scam.
>>1537877
A Ponzi scheme pays dividends with the "investments" of new investors.
A bank actually invests money and pays you with the returns.
Therefore, banks are more like pyramid schemes.
>equity owners, lenders and suppliers all want to be paid tomorow
>this steel plant is a ponzi scheme
>>1537877
In any big city 4 out of 5 of the tallest buildings are usually banking buildings, the other one probably a big insurance company.
Life on earth is a ponzi scheme which is why perpetual growth is always the goal.
What are the Pros and Cons?
More Free Time, Less Money.
>>1537837
assuming you aren't supported by anyone you can't live on part-time in most places
Most jobs don't give benefits to part time workers. They also usually require you to work a floating shift, which won't afford you the comfort of being able to plan too far in advance. You're also the first person on the chopping block should the company choose to downsize.
All in all, the cons outweigh the pros, unless you genuinely don't need the job / money.
>>1537837
I work both a full time and a part time job.
can we have a school / college thread stories thread?

the quote is true. anyone can make money, and if you are motivated and lack morals, you can make a lot of money.
which is why it's said that no one ever becomes rich without making something illegal and/or immoral
>>1537944
>no one ever becomes rich without making something illegal and/or immoral
>>1537836
>no one ever becomes rich without making something illegal and/or immoral
Morality is subjective and almost everything is regulated or illegal. So this is true. I remember there was a book a while ago that essentially said people on average commit 5 felonies a day due to absurd government regulation.
