Sup /biz/,
I'm a student currently trying to give myself some credit history and boost my credit rating.
I've heard that keeping a low credit utilization ratio (not zero) is a good way to boost your credit rating.
However, what is the best way to do this? I don't want to have to pay interest each month. I was under the impression that paying off a large amount of my balance as soon as I spend and then letting the remainder roll over until the next statement is issued was the best idea (aiming for 1-10% credit utilization), but then it just looks like i've spent hardly anything to the agencies that issue your credit rating.
Would greatly appreciate any advice brodies.
Use the card as much as possible, but pay the full statement balance (not total balance) and not until the day that its due. That way you'll always carry a moderate balance, but never incur a dime in finance charges.
This is because you always get at least a month to pay off charges before interest starts the accrue. So if your statement is issued on the 1st, but not due until the 20th, anything you charge between the 1st-20th will not be due until the next month even though the bank may subtly urge you to pay it right away. That's why you only pay the statement balance, not the total balance.
When the credit card reports your utilization, they simply report the account balance on that particular day. So even though you're not technically carrying a balance, you'll get reported as having a positive utilization -- all without paying any interest or other charges.

Thanks for the reply.
So what if I've maxed out the limit within a given month - where is the distinction between total balance and statement balance? How much do I pay off on the due date? And is paying dead on the payment due date actually better than paying before ?
>>1723871
>So what if I've maxed out the limit within a given month
Well, ideally, you won't do this. If you're having to micro-manage your credit limit mid-payment cycle, I'd suggest you either get a larger credit limit or use the card less.
>And is paying dead on the payment due date actually better than paying before ?
Yes, because it maximizes the balance that you can carry to the next month without incurring finance charges, assuming you use the card frequently.

>the indicator most popular with Generation Z respondents was a promotion (23 per cent). By contrast, the best indicator of success in the workplace for millennials (22 per cent) was respect and acknowledgement from their colleagues.
Millennials: Treat me like a special snowflake and keep feeding me encouragement just like mommy did!
Gen Z: Allow me to show my worth through hard, quality work and reward me with a position where I can greater benefit the company.
>>1723802
You mixed it up fagon.
Hard and quality work = respect by peers and colleagues
Promotion = treat me like a special snowflake since my senior cocksuck assistant is more worth than your junior ball licker position

The youngest workers I see are doing REALLY fucking good for their age. The good ones that is.
Hey /biz/ how long is your commute to work?
I have to budget 70 mins to get to my office on time by train (I have to transfer lines once). I go in ome saturday a month and that takes me 90 mins. I used to be 30 mins away, but I got switched to a different office further away. Driving would be difficult because parking is impossible.
What about you?
>pic related

Academia feels like such a fucking stupid circlejerk, is being a carpenter a valid alternative? This is coming from someone about to graduate with a Math/CS degree. I'm also considering continuing onto grad school, or just pimping out my programming portfolio.
IDFK help me lads, grades are shit btw but I can get up to a 3.5 before transferring to uni (I'm in community college rn)
>>1723708
Learn the trade. Academia is fucked and no longer generates useful grads. One of the big 4 just confirmed degrees offer no benefit to their staff intake.

so carpentry in the summer, programming in the winter it is

I have an accounting degree but I ended up becoming an electrician after I realized that I hate corporate/office work. It was the best decision I have ever made in my life.
I'm doing a school project and need to know why people choose to work hard and make money, help me out, entrepreneurs and hard working investors.

Howdy /biz/. I want to get into stocks but I need to be sure that it is worth it.
- Are you doing well?
- How do you manage your stocks?
- Do you use any app? If so, which is the best tool you've found?
- How much do you earn doing this?
I put in $3k and have lost about $50 through mostly betting on penny stocks from /rgt/. Tbh I'm surprised I haven't done worse.

I'm a 22 year old virgin living in Ontario Canada. I don't have a highschool diploma, drivers license or any skills.
How can I get rich and make it in this world?
Is it even worth it to finish highschool and apply to University? Is it just a frantic scramble for lost time at this point?

They invest your unsettled funds after a trade. It's also pretty basic shit.
> When is it coming to my country?
Never. They only have "plans" on an Australian beta.
> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
If it takes more than 3 days, email their support. They are very good.
> Is this the place to pump and dump and/or shill a worthless stock?
NO! THIS IS 4CHAN, A PLACE OF POLITENESS AND PROFESSIONALISM!!!
> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, am I being jewed?
No, that would actually be illegal. Robinhood graphs are just shit and only show you an average, not-really-realtime price. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform. -- (also learn difference between LIMIT and MARKET orders!!!) :^)
> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
thinkorswim is bretty gud if you want a 2nd account with real broker.
Otherwise you should be using stockcharts.com, finviz, or a non-pile-of-shit for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.
>How do I git gud?
Don't listen to any advice in this thread.
> Can I use Robinhood on my PC?
Yes, download an android emulator
> I'm ending the year with positive shekels! I'm rich!
Not so fast goyim, remember to report and pay taxes on any capital gains.

Is this a good idea /biz/? Do the anons here use Vanguard?

Pretty sure the minimum order for Admiral funds is $30k-50k or somewhere around there.
But yes, Vanguard is a good place to put your savings.

Just buy the etf.
Just bought one of these suckers. They're dirt cheap? Is Amazon even making any money off these? I don't anticipate spending another dime on it. I was already a Prime member, and I just use the thing to stream TV and movies. The app store looks pretty vacant. There are some mobile games that are more than just "click the fruit and give us money", but there are very few on the Amazon app store. Monument Valley, Hearthstone, and Sonic CD are two of the only real games, but those are all free. There's mobile ports of some Final Fantasy games, that's the only thing in the app store I would consider spending money on.
And if Bezos thinks he's going to get me to subscribe to The Washington Post by automatically signing you me for a free trial for buying the tablet, he's crazy.
good for u
>get a Fire tablet
>consume more Prime material
>become more loyal Prime customer
>get cucked by Bezos long term
there ya go
>>1723521
That gif always makes me sad, but anyway, yeah, Bezos is cucking me good. I let him though, it's a good deal. Look at this shit I just bought that I don't need. I probably shouldn't have bought those two tubs of Laffy Taffy, but the price was right.
sup biz,
20 years old with basically no money to my name, trust fund baby that doesn't have to worry about college debt, live with parents, so no overhead bills like rent or anything besides my phone.
I currently have an associates and plan on getting my bachelor's in business administration and hoping to accept this job as manager in training at my local car wash, with associates and a few jobs in the past I think I'm qualified to get it, they pay 31k-37k a year depending on experience
my plan for my education is to go back to college in the summer with a few online classes to take before I can start my actual BA degree (business writing, accounting, business law, that bullshit) should only take me 2-3 years to get the rest of the hours I need for my Bachelors
I want a good, solid five year plan ahead of me and that consists of staying on and getting this crucial manager experience and come out of school with a bachelor's debt free. by the time I'm 25 I want to have a few years of management under my belt with the degree.
Since I'm not paying for shit besides gas and necessities and whatnot, what's the most effective way of investing this money I will be earning? I've opened a Robinhood account since they offer free commission on the trades, fuck around and put some side money into my Acorns account whenever I can, and plan to open a discount brokerage account (looking at interactive brokers)
I want to start a retirement plan as well, and I hear Roth is the way to go. Once again I don't have much money going to utitilities or rent so I want to dump money into these assets as much as possible for the next few years.
Can some of you bizbros help me out? It will be greatly appreciated
