>be me
>plan to move to toronto to do uber while looking for actual career
>my car 2004 hyundai
>Uber required 2010+ model
This is the bullshit of getting a new car:
>Brand new honda civic $22K
>to lease $270 a month(5 years)
>to finance $361 a month ($7 years)
>fuckthat'salot.jpg
Other options:
>ads online to take over lease, example Nissan Rogue SUV $250 a month..one year left
What the fuck do I do? I dont have straight cash to buy Uber qualified cars.
>2017 Honda civic
>>1762171
Why not buy a used Honda Civic? You can probably find a good 2010-2012 model for a decent price.
Leasing a car for uber seems dumb since you will be putting a lot of miles on it and will have to pay for that at the end of your lease.
I imagine wherever you go they will try to sell you on a lease since you're in Canada and that's the thing to do there. Also don't do a 7 year loan, especially not on a new car. That's way too long.
How do I act like a leader?
It's so stupid how companies always ask for "leadership qualities". Well you know what, not everyone is meant to be a leader. I don't understand this shit. I don't have any experiences to prove I am a leader anyway.
>have leadership skills
>they don't pick me to be leader
>>1762169
I think the actual question is are you fit for management?
Which means can you tell people what to do without them resenting you for it.
So, can you?
>>1762169
initiative fag
just show them you have initiative
>Another day wasted on 4chan when I could have been learning a valuable skill or at least making money
>I literally slept all day when I could have studied something or learned a skill
I can't believe it's already 8:00 PM. I will probably be extremely tired at 10:00 even though I slept all day. I wasted my time.
>>1762165
You can kinda learn shit browsing 4chan.
Only so much you can learn by reading anyways. At some point you have to practice and that requires money. Better to squander time than money.

i want to make a phone app, to attempt to dominate a small niche, make some money, and learn how to make apps (i'm a webdev)
how to identify niches
Do you want direction?
>>1762172
Yeah, I've been browsing Android top chart's for a bit and I only have a couple ideas. A lot of the high ranking stuff is for very proprietary stuff or things like the Bible. I would like to try to monetize something like the Bible but that's pretty saturated.
I don't want to invest months of time into making something like a game or social network.
>I'm a webdev

What is your opinion on the book ''How to Own the World: A Plain English Guide to Thinking Globally and Investing Wisely'' for a noob invester?
I know nothing about investing but I'm going to invest some money soon and want to know the basics. Is this book good or is it biased(his opinion)?
What does it say?
>>1762112
I don't even have to read to book to know it most likely boils down to diversifying your portfolio, examining risk, and considering the benefits over buying and holding wealth for the long term.
>>1762113
I have zero experience or knowledge about investing so I thought I'd buy this book, people write good things about it and it seems to be pretty basic. I will also get some help from an advisor from my bank but I still want to know just something.
Yeah I guess it's not that complicated as it seems. Do you guys buy bonds and shares at your bank with the help of an advisor or do you buy it all by yourself on the internet?
>>1762113
This is pretty much the conclusion of every book with financial advice its ridiculous
Is anybody here into making money from advertisements on social media?
How much do you think an account like this makes from one advertisement? Over 1k?
Interested.
I'd also like to know. Ive heard that some can just live off of the money. Can you really make that much?

You have 10 seconds to give me ONE good reason why you aren't investing in this man
Because im investing on the real disruptor of the millenium.
I don't like investing in companies that can't old their own and have to be propped up and subsidized by the government to exist.

How is pension lump sum calculated?
Age specifically. Do they use the average life expectancy?
>>1761806
no
there are many different kinds of pensions
>>1761806
CALPERS is one of the largest and is government
they take the years you worked and multiply it by %
so if you started the job at 50, before 2013, you would get about 2.7*(5 years of service) = around 15% of your pay.
you can buy additional years too, its usually a great buy
they have 0 age/mortality adjustments
if you work for gov from 20 to 25, and leave, you will get fucked, but the people who come in at 50 and work for 5-10 years make a killing
>>1761806
calpers is indexed for inflation, and is a 'private' organization that hires public workers, it is horribly managed, and lost 2% last year, when it was a kick ass year.
the pension manager of Nevada is a bogleheads member and literally is the one person in charge of Nevada's pension, he just buys SP500 and total bonds
he is the best pension fund manager in the country and works about 10 hours a week
