Guys let's just put the serious hat on for one second, I ask you this.
How much does hard work matter versus luck?
Is hard work 90% or 10% of what makes people successful?
I need to know before starting this journey I don't wanna invest everything I got on some meme. Is the game rigged, will I never make it?
>>1765131
It's silly to try and put a number to these things. The fact of the matter is if you work hard, make connections, and be likeable you will do better than most. Not a guarantee but what choice do you have? You can't exercise luck but if you do the above you'll be "luckier" than those who didn't try.
As far as investing goes, make contributions to some sort of index fund every paycheck, max out your IRA and other tax-advantaged accounts, live within your means, and your wealth will grow. Then after you cover those bases can you start investing in memes with your remainder money if you choose to do so.
Learn this pic to the T. I think it should be stickied.
>>1765143
Well said. To OP, I'd say that you actually DON'T need to know this to start. Just do it. What you're really asking is 'will I fail?'
The answer in my mind is 'yes, expect your first couple of businesses to fail, but do it anyway. You'll learn a lot and increase your odds the next time'

>quitting before starting
no you'll never make it. now fuck off.

So my father decided to start a business in providing product for really anybody who's trying to buy, but mainly for agriculture professions. So far we got lighting fixture, disposable gloves, industrial grade fans, milk filters, and disinfectant teat wipes for cows. My thing is that I feel like it's a waist in going to a bunch of the places all over just to tell people of your product and more than likely not getting a customer because a lot of these farmers are loyal to their suppliers. I know we are more fairly cheaper than a lot of these main suppliers too. I just need help in finding a way of having these guys come to me rather than me going to them.
>>1764870
> Good business model
> Need customers
Sounds like your dad is half right. You do need to knock on some doors and try to get customers that way. Also, farmers stick together so if you can sell one, there is a good chance his farmer friends will fall like dominos.
But on the other side, you should probably do some advertising. Radio or TV both might be worth it. Any way you can get the email addresses of the farmers? Send them a mass email.
You gotta find a way to get your pitch in the ears of farmers: "Farming supplies at lower prices than you are used to"
>>1764870
Don't sweat it anon, soon your product will sell itself. Those same retarded farmers cucked themselves by voting for trump. YFW trump puts 20% tax on imports from Mexico, yfw majority of imports from mexico are farming equipment and the like. Soon you'll be able to name any price you want with the massive amount of stress that will be put on the farming economy
Where is the website. I want to see your lighting fixtures and fan prices.
is /biz/ the richest board on 4chan? is it because you all know how to into forex and what-not?
I wouldn't say richest at all. I'd say most desperate for money, which is very different
>>1764845
No.
/o/ is.
>>1764845
>is /biz/ the richest board on 4chan?
Yes.
Hey /biz/ probably a frequently asked question, but how do I get into trading
Not as a main source of income but to make money on the side.
What's the best strategy to start?
Are there any books I should/have to read? Someone here mentionend the "for Dummies" book; is that a good place to start?
Should I specialize in smthg?
How horrible is it, that I have only half an hour each day that I can productively invest in it?
Thanks in advance
>>1764838
>What's the best strategy to start?
Buy and hold ETFs.
Stock picking for the most part is a losing proposition. Very few people beat the market long-term. Active management of your portfolio isn't automatically better. Looking back it's easy to see the gigantic profit you could have made had you bought at the bottom and sold at the top, but in the moment you never know *when* you've reached the bottom or the top, so you end up missing it a lot, hurting your profits.
>How horrible is it, that I have only half an hour each day that I can productively invest in it?
If you're only in it for some money on the side, you don't need half an hour a month, probably. Half an hour is not really enough to properly daytrade and far too much to keep you sane. Staring at the markets for half an hour a day will drive you insane. If anything, read a good news paper and try if you can spot some interesting economic trends over several years (where are we currently in the cycle, which countries are on the rise, which industries struggle, how is the general sentiment of investors, etc).
If you want to do a little stock picking, maybe for fun, maybe to learn something, alot a little money you don't care about and just go for it. Or start a virtual account and trade with fake money until you are confident enough to risk the real deal. Hands-on learning will teach you more than reading a book.
>>1764838
Not a great idea. You're effectively trying to compete in something you know almost nothing about, while putting minimal effort towards it. If success was likely, don't you imagine everyone would be doing this?
What's more likely is that you will lose money, get frustrated and switch to something else with less money, lose more and switch again. This will continue until you have very little cash left and/or several underwater positions that you can't bear to sell.
You can then commence to posting here about how the market is rigged.

Thanks for the helpful comment!
Hello /biz/, not sure if this is the right board to ask this.
I'm currently 20, go to college and still live with my parents. I'm planning on studying in another town next year and thus getting my own flat. My family can barely afford it so I'm considering applying to a part-time job to be able to put money aside.
Problem is, I already searched for one near where I live and, due to my studies and my other activities, I can't work at the times they're giving.
So, my question is : Considering I don't have a degree yet, don't have any useful experience except for babysitting, is it possible for me to work at my house like a freelancer in any domain (that I would then learn intensively before) ?
>>1764773
Yes, it's certainly possible.
Bumping, interested about working from home too.
Just got a call from the Bogdanoff brothers

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.
> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, am I being jewed?
Jewish tricks? No, and please refrain from the antisemitism! Robinhood graphs are just shit and only show you an average, not-really-realtime price. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.
> How is it free?
"People" invest your settled funds when you're not using them, just like banks.
> Is this the place to pump and dump and/or shill a worthless stock?
Are you aware how small this community is? Better to try stocktwits or r/wallstreetbets
> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.
> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
Real brokers, like TDAmeritrade's thinkorswim. Otherwise you should be using stockcharts.com, finviz, or a non-pile-of-shit for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

/biz/ give me one fucking good reason why i shouldn't invest all my bitcoins in doge coin?
All time low: 0.00000019 btc
All time high: 0.00000300 btc
Current price: 0.00000023 btc
It hasn't been pumped since last february. I'm not big on crypto, but so far all i did was buy coins that were at an almost all time low and waited even 3-4 months till it got pumped and i always doubled my money(i started with 100$ and i'm at 400$ now, it's not much i know)
Even if it won't pump to 0.00000100 like last time did i think it's a safa bet to buy some and sell at 0.00000050.
I'm unsure of what to do. Thoughts on this?
because it is a dead meme.

I have an option to borrow money from the state. The interest is 0% per year and i have to pay it back within 30 years. Shall i borrow to the max or..
>>1764512
If you really need someone to make this decision for you, then no
I'd borrow to the max and put it in an etf if i had to do it over again. Or use the money to save up for a house
how much money are we talking about here and also is it a fixed interest rate and what is the payment schedule they expect
So, /b/
I own an apartment in Donetsk that I don't use for anything currently and I trying to think of a way to utilize it and turn into profit.
Attached are prices for electricity (in Russian kopeykas, with is 1/100 of a Russian Ruble). Roughly, if I consume for that 800 kWt/h per month, the cost is 0.04 USD per kWt/h.
Plus, nobody gives a shit about Internet regulations in Donetsk.
Right now there are two ideas on my mind: bitcoin mining and Raspberry Pi-based VPN service.

Here are full table of rent costs. In short, it's not much, if you actually live there I think it's around 10 pounds per month, maybe less.
And yes, you can just go and live there, even get a DPR passport.
I can even sell or rent my appartment to you if you want.

>Use debit card for all purchases
>Want to build credit as I have none
>Only card I can actually get is a secured card
>Don't spend more than $500 a month on my debit card
My question is what should I set my limit to? I wanted to set it between $550 and $750 because car rental companies won't even let you rent cars without a $510 credit card deposit (no debit allowed) but I also want decent utilization rates as I'm building credit for the first time
Will it hurt my scores to have a limit of $750 as opposed to $600? I'll probably only use about $300 - $400 a month on it, but I want to replace all current debit usage with credit
>>1764384
Can you even rent a car at 23?
>>1764476
Yes but it's more expensive.
I was able to rent a car at 22 but it was because insurance was covering it(person read ended me)
>>1764384
Set your limit to 500, spend 200 a month on card, never have more then 200 on card, pay it off every month. Don't rent cars, buy them, if you travel by air take cabs... Uber if you think you better then everyone and you make the money to justify the price jump.
