What's the single most expensive thing currently for sale?
I'm not talking 50 tons of gold. I'm talking about countries, cities or businesses for sale.
And please don't give me stuff like a 50 dollar watch with diamonds of a value of millions of dollars sort of thing as an example.

I just don't understand Anon..

When we were your age we already had you and your sister and purchased our first home

My job only paid me $33k and I still manage to grow a family

You're 25 now and your upset that we are cutting off your mobile plan?

Have you tried emailing out your resume? You had a 3.8 gpa and 2 degrees. Time to grow up buddy

of course we understand.

we were kicked out or had to pay rent at 18. We didn't do the same to our kids because we hoped they'd go to college and get a degree. A degree that's now worthless because everyone did the same thing.

we understand very well. that doesn't change a thing. When we die your entire generation is going to starve to death from the looks of it.

I have $10,000 and live in a $400 per month airbnb room right now, and spend ~$250 per month on food. I want to spend the next year learning to program to where i can get a job making 35K+. How feasible is this?

go to college. to learn to pcode by yourself can be a hard task. it'll probably last longer than a year until you reach a level that's valuable for an employer.

learn html. takes maybe 1-3 months to know enough to make fancy WordPress sites for technologically illiterate businesses.

the catch: you'll have to actually contact people for their business - can't do this if youre an autist

Make a Yobit account, and buy KUBO.

It's only at 1 sat right now, and will for sure go up to atleast 10 sats by March.

You could sell at 100% profit and exit with your $16,000, or do as you so choose.

It literally costs 0.00000001 BTC, so it only needs to move to 0.0000002 for you to make bank, which has already happened before.

It's starting to seem to me that economic growth happens only:

1) as the result of technological improvements
2) as a result of changes in capital organization (IE, more capital becoming available to invest for whatever reason)
3) bubbles

and that's it. it's really hard for me to see any instances of economic growth outside of those factors. if the economy is growing, it is solely for those reasons.

am I totally off-base here?

yes, google that shit. Also bubbles are mostly a meme, as in massive irrational investments. What ''bubbles'' usually are are unpredictable or very unlikely events that come true and cause a major economic downturn

where would you put money if you only want to get the return from the yearly interest, and not worry about being able to withdraw it for a year?

savings accounts seem awful because their interest rates are less than 1%

plz don't suggest retirement savings, i dont want to wait till i'm 65 lol.
and plz no stocks, i don't want to lose all that money because of some ceo like donald trump gaming the system by taking advantage of bankruptcy laws

If you want to make decent money off only interest, cross your fingers and wait till you're 70.

the word you are looking for is
>bonds
>>
>>1764415
http://www.investopedia.com/articles/bonds/05/022805.asp

Bonds basically guarantee a return on your investment. Municipal Bonds, from my understanding, will only default if the government collapses.

If you're looking for slightly higher returns, go for some other corporate backed bonds that still have super high credit ratings.

Capital One gives out bonds at a 1.35% interest rate.
Bonds are primarily meant for "capital preservation," as in not letting your sick gainz get eaten up by interest rates, rather than trying to grow in value or provide income, like stocks.

I know this isn't /adv/ but I need some major help on this.

I'm a sales engineer (for those of you that don't know what that is, I make technical evaluations of a customer's needs and provide products solutions/pricing) and one of the execs in my company is constantly discounting everything.

He's not involved with sales, at all, and has no sales training. He is the product manager for the products I sell. He consistently offers discounts to customers, without consulting me. Sometimes these discounts are 50-75% off the base price.

5-10% is okay, if a customer really fights. But fucking 50-75% is absolutely insane.

How the fuck do I handle this?

Uh. Talk to him directly (in private) and ask him to stop.

Talk to him and explain the problem.

Alternatively, bring the matter up to your direct supervisor.

How hard is Cobol and how much money can I make with it?
9 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>1763713
It's very easy. Babbys first language easy and you can make alot. Alot of legacy business applications (banking software etc) that run this world are written in cobol and there is a lack of cobol talent to maintain them.
>>
>>1763713
It isn't difficult. The issue is that it runs on a mainframe environment which means you have a lot of auxillary tools to learn such as syncsort, jcl, eztrieve, CICS integration. None are particularly difficult and there is a big lack of people willing to go into the field. The workforce is aging out. I spent 3 years on a mainframe and fucking loved it. A good mentor goes a really long way, you can't google your way out of everything.

You'll earn as much as any code monkey. Start around 50k on up to 125ish. With the option of going management for more of course
>>
>>1763854
Previous replies are spot on. Any language is easy to learn in it's own right - the mainframe toolset is a world of it's own though. Not glamorous but you will never be out of a job.

How much money do you need before you can live off investements alone?

What different possiblities are there of investing so the passive income can become your main income?

I'm thinking of living as cheaply as possible for a certain amount of years then living the rest of my life with not having to work a 9-5 job while using the passive income I've collected by investing in whatever to stay afloat for the rest o my life.

I really hate working tbqh but I can work very hard or a couple of years to avoid it for the rest of time if I have to.

Watchu think /biz/ does this sound like a good idea?

How do exchange rates with poorer countries even work? Like for example why would anybody want to trade dollars for whatever currency is in Central African Republic?

I have a question, where can i find a website that will let me buy stocks without any bullshit? i don't mind paying an upfront commission but after that i want to buy/sell/manage the stock on my own
19 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>1763560
what do you mean without any bullshit? you need to buy stocks through a broker.
>>
What do you mean? What exactly are you missing from traditional brokers? No legit business takes away control of your securities.
>>
>>1763560
you yourself don't buy or sell any shares, on sites like etrade, scottrade, etc. you put in orders that real brokers then execute on your behalf. there's always a middleman that's the broker. you just tell him what to do.

Hey guys, I want to start an amazon FBA business.

I'm relatively new to the idea of eCommerce other than flipping some products on Ebay when I was younger (profit wasn't enough for the time I was putting in to researching products and it was a bit of a gamble).

So I wanted to know if anyone on here has any experience with amazon FBA and if it actually works or not. I know that thinks like affiliate marketing are just memes that don't work but is this the same?

Thanks a lot

be me
paid an amazon fba course from a "millionare guru"
course is obvious shit as fuck
google a lot of shit "gurus" cant answer
learn a lot of crap about importing exporting and businesses
start doing the research and alibaba shit
dealing with chinks. worst nightmare they dont have a soul. scammers everywhere.
spent weeks doing work and learning a lot of shit.
cash flow is negative between shipping and fees all your margins disappear.
found the product is patented. chink never told me and those fuckers lied in the invoice to avoid taxes.
start sourcing for all overthe world. retailers dont need you, they lie a lot about purchase orders. lot of wasted time.
I leave a job of 7k a month to make 30 damn cents for working 20 times more with everyone trying to fuck you all the time.
ask other people in the course how they are doing. they agreed that shit is not as easy as the "gurus"(scammers) said.

summary
there is money in ecommerce but I recommend you should do your own products.
sales are nothing you can make 3 million in sales and still lose money. dont let those numbers impress you. never ever have seen a damn fucking net number. every single fucking time they show sales.
do a lot but a LOT of research in your supplier. be sure is a factory not a trade company. you should go and visit those fuckers. NEVER TRUST A FUCKIN CHINK. NEVEEER!!
prepare yourself for a lot of headaches from the supplier to your stupid costumers.
if you have time and money source directly from trade shows and visit the factory.

good luck you are gonna need it.
are there people doing money? yes
are you going to be one? if you have at least 20k(minimum investing entry point where margins dont shrink and you save in shipping) to throw away and pray those fucking chinks are legit... maybe you have a small probability.
remember those guys in shark tank putting 300k in their business and broke as fuck asking the sharks for money? well those are the succesful guys with tons of sales

Just buy ETFs on a regular base with a reliable bank or broker

Don't fall for the crypto meme, it's over, it's basically just gambling right now
>>

Dogs of the DOW.
or ETFs.
If you want dividends, then high dividend etf and reits. If you want to match a particular market, then market ETFs. For example, I have on ETF ARGT that is up 20 percent since last year.
