I've been thinking /an/
about the concept of good and evil in nature and human beings.
are human beings even part of nature at this point?
what makes something good, what makes something evil?
human beings are always going to be a part of nature, no matter how much they protest.
as far as good and evil, those are purely human concepts.
>>2275452
Good and evil weren't tangible entities until humans came along and made agreed upon decisions of what you can, and cannot do. "You cannot do evil, you must only do good." they all said, but that doesn't mean evil things were incapable of being performed. It was up to humans, since we're probably the first species to have developed a conscious and a sense of morality, to decide whether or not we wanted to be demented or righteous.
>>2275457
so the entire concept of good and evil is based around your personal feelings towards the subject
How are german short haired pointer with smaller dogs? I have 2 cavaliers and im looking to get a third dog to add to the family. Also any suggestions would be appreciated.
I never really understood getting more than 2 dogs. I only have 1 but I understand getting a second to keep company with the first, but why a third? Most people don't have the time, energy, and/or money to properly care for 1 dog, much less 3. Is it boredom?
>>2275489
i never leave the house and my dogs are the only thing that make me happy. I want to get another play mate for myself and my other dogs.

Cats aren't stupid like dogs, they don't get "lost." It will find it's own way home if it wants to. If it doesn't come home it either doesn't want to or it is dead.

Dogs aren't stupid.
Friendly cats are sometimes taken in so it could be helpful to put up lost cat fliers in case someone decided to adopt it
cats are completely stupid
just like you, catfag
I would like to get myself a pet snake. I would also like to get pet rats.
Is keeping them in the same house likely to cause the animals discomfort? Would the snake be able to "smell" the rats, or visa versa?
I'd of course keep them in separate rooms, but I worry it may distress the rats if they can sense I've been handling the snake recently, or something.
yes, it would stress out the rats.
As long as they are in separate rooms it should be fine. Just wash your hands after handling one(recommended to do regardless but i let it slide when I mess with my snakes sometimes) to avoid bites.
Friend of mine used to breed rats for his red tail and everything was fine. If you intend for them to be a food source please kill them before feeding though it will avoid injury to the snek and unneeded pain to the rat.
>>2275284
I've done this so I speak from experience. For starters, you should always do this anyway, but ALWAYS wash your hands after you handle/feed/clean out enclosures. Because if the rats smell the snake, it will stress them out big time. And if the snake smells the rats on you, you may get bitten because you smell like its food.
So yeah;
Keep them in separate rooms
Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling either pet/clean an enclosure, etc.
And (This one is super obvious but I may as well include it) Don't let them see each other and especially DON'T ever have them out at the same time.
As long as you do these things, you'll have a happy snake and a happy rat(s).
Oh, and feed frozen/thawed. It's safer for your snake, and you may feel conflicted about feeding one of your pets a 'family member' of your other pet, and f/t helps cut down on those feelings too.
Good luck and as always, read at least 3 guides on proper husbandry for both pets.
This cat had to have surgery and now his benis is gone.

I've been looking into beekeeping for a few weeks now after youtube decided to recommend me a bunch of videos on it.
I was just wondering if anyone here was knowledgeable about keeping bees and if they could answer a few questions.
My county has an association with mentoring programs and such, but I dont want to pay money for advice before I even decide if I want to do it or not.
How hard is it to actually keep bees? I saw a lot of videos of people just losing entire colonies for seemingly no reason.
How much in terms of price would it actually take to get going? On my county's website, they sell a smallish box hive and bees for about $150. Is that a good deal? What would be the cost of other supplies?
Are bee pests universal across the US? I've seen people struggling with mites, beetles, and moths, and they seem pretty devastating.
Do stings just eventually stop bothering you?
Is it difficult to prepare a hive for winter? Its been pretty mild this year, but my area has had some rough winters in the past.
I'm sure I could find this stuff out if I looked hard enough on google, but I'd love to hear firsthand experiences from you guys. More than anything I just wanted to get a discussion about beekeeping going since I've been so captivated by it recently.
>>2274425
used to help keep 40-90 hives. the number fluctuates because each year some would die, some would split.
think less # of "hives" than # of "laying queens"
moderate effort, assuming barn and 4 wheel drive
they can be left outside in the winter if you're not getting below freezing too much.
price...box, extractor, queen, lbs of bees, suit, pest control, sugar water for winter feeding...its expensive, but pays for itself if you're a serious farmer or is worthwhile if you simply enjoy the gold
ehhh...got an extra 8,000 dollars? I wouldn't try from scratch if you don't
>>2274440
What about from a more casual perspective? I don't really want to start a business or anything.
What do you do during more harsh winters? Do you have to put them inside somehow?
>>2274476
I've never done it, but if you got a shed and managed to keep a heater in there, on at night/off during the day with the door open...you could probably just keep a couple hives in that shed year round with the doors always open in the summer.
say you want two hives. you can make your own, but still have to buy some stuff like the plastic frame base and a bee hood at least(make sure you're using non-agressive bees if you opt out of the whole suit) and a smoker. without ever moving them but the shed as well...then the extraction process(you can buy a manual hand-crank style extractor). ehh...you're still looking at a pretty penny. It all depends how handy you are, and if you lose a hive there goes 1/2 your production for the year.
per box its more expensive to only have a couple. Then wifey says "hey lets send a bottle to Uncle and Aunt so and so and there goes another 1/8 your year's production.
learn by doing? Harsh winter, though...bees do better around the equator than in the artic. I really wouldn't suggest beekeeping north of the 50th parallel(it gets good around Florida/SoCal).
I dare you, I double dare you motherfucker.

Title says it all, i have a roughly 1 - 2 year old cat and she had kittens this august. Shes gotten outside and recently been running around with other cats again like shes in heat again
The problem is that shes gotten hostile towards her kitten EVERY time she sees them, its now to the point where shes outside most of the time.
How the fuck do I get her to behave again? do I have to just wait it out?
Also whats a good way to induce an abortion in a cat? i'm sure she knocked up again

Hey /an/... a sad pet owner here asking for help. My cat has an urinary blockage, the second in a month. The first bill was 700, and now I'm looking at another one. I'm afraid I'm going to have to put him down or let him suffer at home until the time he passes. He's only six years old, so he has a lot of life ahead of him.
So my point is, I have a gofundme page, help smokey Bear. I hate begging for money, but I'll do it for him. I don't want money to be the reason he doesn't get to live.
I made the page for the first surgery with no luck, but my landlord is an animal lover and gave me a pass for December so I could get him the first surgery. Gotta pay him back later. He's not going to do it twice. And the vet doesn't do payments.
I'm between a rock and hard place.
haha
get fucked
no one here cares about your shit cat
