Dog etiquette training tips?
I have a four month old husky mix who seems socially retarded.
When first meeting another dog she is extremely shy and tries to hide. If given long enough to get comfortable with a dog she becomes a rude pest. She'll jump on them, lick their face, bite their ears and won't back off even if they growl and snap at her. Twice now she's been bitten and blood was drawn. If a dog submits to her she takes it as a sign to get even rougher.
How the hell do I teach a dog to dog? If she acts like this when fully grown she is likely to start fights. I don't know how to show her that its unacceptable when other dogs can't even do that.
working with a professional dog trainer with constant effort going into her behavior correction will be your best bet. she's still young, so she had plenty of time to learn, but this is the best time to get started. its partially to be expected since she's both a husky and a puppy - tons of energy and excitement - but its going to be a long time before that really fades out.

*has plenty of time
Sorry op. Sounds like your dog has the dog autism
I don't understand this dog, /an/.
My friend of a friend has a dog. The dog obviously loves its owner, but when I try to pet the dog gets very cautions and walks away from my hand. It also looks sort of away from me but keeps me in the side-vision. The dog "bit" me once, but it wasn't even a bit, more like a soft, barely noticeable bite. If I have a dog treat the dog will stalk me, listen to my commands, even give me paw but even right after feeding the dog will avoid my hand. I'm getting "feed me but don't touch me" vibe. I've been feeding for a while now, but there's no progress. I don't know why. I didn't hurt the dog or anything like that. Any ideas why?

It just doesn't know you that well and doesn't feel comfortable with you which is why it avoids eye contact.
>>2280886
But I've been hanging out with the dog for more than a month. Maybe two. Feeding it.
>>2280859
What kind of dog is it? Does it act like this with most people or are you the exception?

How do I make an insulated dog house?
Make a dog house.
Apply insulation.
>>2280739
I guess I should clarify. What kind of insulation would a dog not chew up? They are only in the backyard a few hours in the day but are finishing up their teething.
apply insulation to the dog
>tfw you cannot ever get a dog because you're away from home 9 to 10 hours of the day, and don't really have time to exercise it properly
>so you do the right thing and don't get a dog
>tfw you really need dogs in your life
are you me?
seems like some humans are born to have doggos around. feels like it's genetic.
still hoping my job situation will change for the better and a doggo will be possible in the future.
Doggy day care, dog walkers, adopting an older dog, dog friendly workplaces, etc etc etc
Have you tried volunteering at your local humane society? Sure, sometimes they just try to bring people in to scoop poop but some have a serious need for dog walkers to help socialize and exercise the dogs in the shelter!
why do they LOVE to come down from the ceiling DIRECTLY over my desk and directly coming down with under an inch distance to my face.
I usually throw them out when I see them so there are not many around usually and it still keeps happening.
what's the scientific explanation for that shit.
happens at least once in a year, especially when it's night time and things can be spoopy easily.
Their flying lookalikes love to crash into faces, too.
just grab some ant and feed them
Probably just hunting or exploring for a corner of your house to string web. Cellar spiders are known for exploring the full length of your house and stringing up multiple web traps for bugs.
They also keep out hobo spiders.
Is a domesticated fox just another dog?
it is actually something between a cat and a dog.
actually the worst of both worlds.
>>2280535
Yeah it's just a dog you can't do dog activities with and doesn't act like a dog and can't vaccinate against rabies like a dog

Furries and underage b& need to leave
>dog died of old age
>cat started going out further as if looking for her
>he got hit by car
Both pets lost in a month whats the point I only feel sad now
>>2280509
>let your cat outdoors
>pretend to be sad when it gets killed
What did you expect to happen, retard?

bernese mountain dogs are pretty cool, but I still prefer bastards
>>2280631
Bernese are cool for the 4 years you get to enjoy them before they pass away.
Meanwhile you could have another breed and it will be there for you for 12-15 years.

how do I become a samoyedi master
Hey /an/, /k/ here. I had a hell if a day, I found my neghbor dead in his apartment today. He had been gone for about 2 weeks, and he had a cat. Now I have the cat with me untill his daughter can come get her and his things. The cat is malnourished for sure and was severely dehydrated, she drank lots of water but has not touched any real food. I have 2 bengals so we had to quarantine her in my large bathroom. Ive never had sick/injured/depressed cats before and was wondering if there is anything I should do. I found what food she is used to, and got some wet food as well. Im just hanging out in the bathroom floor and She is currently just sitting on my lap. I feel terrible for her and just dont know what to do.
It takes a while for cats to get over shit mentally. She probably will just sit in a corner or on your lap and do not much else except eat
>>2280395
Give her some pedialyte or Gatorade. Then eventually she'll eat.
>>2280400
Straight up or watered-down? I have some Gatorade in the fridge

Quality post OP, I hope you're proud of you'reself.
I was gonna do the same post for cats but then I realized that most of it would have stayed the same.
>>2280414
Hell, I'm proud of OP.
Good job, OP.
There was a mouse chewing on cords in my drop down ceiling and i decided I would trap it. Not with a mouse trap but with that sticky trap where they get stuck to it. It made noise all night while it was caught banging around the ceiling and I got it earlier today and it was a little sweet thing and its heart was pounding so fast. I felt absolutely terrible that I did this to a poor mouse. I almost want to cry typing this. He is in a better place now right guys?
>>2280282
>>2280282
It wasn't sweet, it was just in too much shock to act like a pest
>He is in a better place now right guys?
as long as you got him out of that torturous trap he is.
Anyone up for winged lizards?
Any of you own a Greyhound? Are they nice?
There's a big Greyhound racing venue in our town and as a result there's a shelter for retired race hounds to be adopted, I've been considering getting one.
Post those Greyhounds and other Sighthounds
>>2280223
I don't have personal experience raising them, but my aunt and uncle have three rescue greyhounds and they are all docile, gentle sweethearts.
A bit too streamlined to be cuddly and they need plenty of exercise, but they are very loving animals.
This guy comes to the daycare where I work. He's super chill, doesn't really play with other dogs but loves people and he's very cuddly.
Until I met him I had no idea that greyhounds' teeth chatter when they're excited. Freaked me out at first
>>2280232
I'm an idiot, forgot the pic. His name is Joe
My cat suddenly turns extremely violent whenever I leave the house for a while and come back. She wails, hisses, shrieks, and viciously lashes out at me, doing everything she can to prevent me from making it back to my room. Once there, she gets defensive, hides for a while, and then returns to her normal, docile behavior. I'm at my wit's end and I don't know what to do. This can't happen every time I'm away for more than a few hours.
>>2280197
Throw her away and get a new one
>>2280197
Cats have clan behavior and if you don't smell like you normally do from before you leave it might be affecting it
Talk to your vet see what they have to say, maybe shes sick and shes trying to tell you and you arent getting the signs.
>>2280207
this. but don't get a new one
you'll be a better person for it
