I hear lots of shit about people having a lot of money and get really exotic animals.
Know stories? Experiences?
I fostered a solomon island skink and owned mousebirds.
The skink was captive bred. (They propagate sloooooooooooow, sadly.) They're having a lot of trouble in the wild with deforestation and collecting (locals even eat them, which is terrible considering how amazing they are) and I always say to myself if I make millions of dollars I'm going to support their conservation in some way. They face a lot of problems but they're amazing animals.
Mousebirds are the sweetest birds. They just want to cuddle, even when paired. The downside is their digestive system is really fast. They eat fruit and shit fruit everywhere often. The shit is, however, just fruit mush... so it's not super gross. Everything else is amazing though. They're so sweet and loving.
my pictus geckos are probably the least common of my reptiles. They're cute. More cat-like in behaviour than other reptiles I have experience with. This is the only gecko species I have seen that self grooms even when not during shedding phase. They're always fastidiously cleaning their little toes especially.
I wouldn't necessarily recommend as first and/or only reptile pet. They can be pretty shy and will semi-brumate during winter even if the temperature in their tank hasn't changed. They still get up to eat from Octobrer to March but it's pretty much straight back to sleep after doing so.
Pic related is Sprite. She was gravid when this was taken, that's why the chubby belly.
I'd like one of these cuties!

Cute horse thread! Go!
Dan, the bravest and cutest.
My little Welsh section A.
Why aren't there cat breeds like there are dog breeds? Only different fur length and colours.
Is cat DNA less malleable through selective breeding?
>>2269213
There's a shitload of cat breeds, what are you on about?
>>2269224
But they're not all different shapes and sizes like dogs.
>>2269226
There are a lot of different catbreeds with different faces, shapes, sizes, you just don't know about them
What the FUCK is their problem?
something about needing a blood meal to reproduce or some bullshit

Mosquitos are okay. I usually try not to kill them, unless I get them all over my face.
The bites don't start itching unless you scratch them, so that's not really a problem, either.
Malaria is pretty bad I guess, but that's not a problem where I live.

Discuss anything aquarium related here, including inhabitants, decor and issues.
Google is your friend.
Feel free to ask questions but know that there are a lot of resources out there that could answer your question a lot faster and accurately than /an/.
Make sure to include these things in your post before asking because we can't help you if we don't have the full picture:
-tank size
-parameters
-any and all inhabitants + how long you've had them

Sad kot :(
Tell all your friends about FIV. I am astonished that more cat owners don't realize it's an actual disease.

Anybody know what this is? My dog is 4 years old and this has recently appeared on her chest. Theres a bump under the skin, which causes pain when squeezed, and the top part is scabbed over.

How good of a replacement is having a pet to human interaction?
Been thinking of getting one but I'm worried I'd neglect it, I can barely take care of myself as things are,
But I'm thinking that maybe having one around could bring me out of my depression pit of lethargy.
What pet is the hardest to fuck up while still being affectionate?
A friendly cat fits your criteria, and while they do help with depression, they're mostly just a distraction from it.
If you'll take care of it, get one bro.
I got my dog when my depression was at its worst. I live alone and he honestly kept me from committing suicide. Having something else rely on me made all the difference. He saved my life.

I second cats. I have chronic depression and my kitty helps it a lot, it gives me those mental anchors every couple hours. I might forget to shower or to eat, but I know she depends on me to live, so for her I function like a goddamned swiss clock.
After a while, you'll start realizing that when putting out food you can eat your human food at the same time so you two enjoy it together, or you can clean some small stuff of yours after cleaning their litterbox, etc. Try to bring your routine into the cat's routine.
Besides that, if you manage to find a really, really affectionate cat, it's a game changer for life in general. I wake up every single day holding a warm ball of fur instead of alone (she likes to cuddle all night), staring at gorgeous amber eyes instead of the emptyness of my room. She then stretches and always touches my face with her paws very carefully, like a caress. During the day, if I come over, she gets on two paws and stands up to greet me (like asking to be picked up). At night, as soon as I lay down to sleep, she comes over and just plops herself on top of my chest or face and starts purring instantly.
It's just a god tier pet to have if you find a good one, anon. I literally love this cat more than anything else, and I'm not even anthropomorphizing. She just helped me see life in a much more comfy, warm point of view.
