Crow.jpg

Back when I was a kid my grandfather found a week old crow among the grass and long story short, by the time the crow was a year old he was practically a dog with wings. He would follow us around while biking and take a ride on the handles. He would constantly bring home coins and shiny objects and was pretty much an indoors pet (despite having open windows and constantly walking out with him he would refuse to leave).

The cunt is almost 21 years old and I always wanted to get one myself.
I finally found a crow breeder that will be selling them this next breeding season, however he told me the birds are already 2 months old by the time they can be sold. Isn't this too much? I always assumed that my grandfather's crow was so desperately attached to him because he recognized him as his parent. This is extremely important because pet crows usually die due to stray cats or other hazards that a house crow doesn't learn to avoid. My grandfather lets the crow fly free but the crow is almost always in our line of sight. I'm worried a crow that is already 2 months old may not bond with its trainer properly.

Any thoughts on this?

2 months is roughly 8 weeks, which is the standard for a lot of animals when it comes to breeding. I see your point, but I also am uneducated on what type of risks could be available taking it away too early

Ask the breeder about the thought process behind why he waits 2 months, and debate if necessary on getting one earlier if it suits you
>>
>>2276451
Tell the breeder you'll pay more to take it early.

Works pretty much every time.

Just take one from a tree (common crows are illegal to own in the US), they nest relatively low and usually around areas dense with trees like parks.

Why do people even find toucans beautiful? They're literally crows with bananas on their faces. If toucans had normal-sized black beaks like crows and vultures, everybody would think they're ugly.

Pointlessly-contrarian moron. Besides, toco toucans also have blue feet/eyes, extremely crisp colouration and interesting ecological habits, so lighten the fuck up.

is it lice? seems a bit "fatter" than it. also i havent found any other bugs on her, nor any eggs.

Some sort of tick bro, definitely not lice. Even the fat ones filled with your blood don't look like that.
>>
looks a little like a bedbug
>>
>>2276301
100% not a tick, too fast, and too big without a blood in it.

i know its a shit picture, but that damned thing was moving so fast i didnt want to risk it hiding somewhere before i murdered it.

Why should we protect them? Aren't they just resources to us? Why do we care? Is it because we consider them to be in the same level as us or something else? Honestly just curious.

>>
There is no such thing as a level.
>>
>>2276272
>Why should we protect them?
There are many reasons for that but I'll just point out the one you answered yourself:

>Aren't they just resources to us?
Yes, and considering animals are potentially unlimited resources for many things (more visible like meat or other products or less visible like knowledge or turism) the best long term option is to protect their existence.
Also some of them play key roles in ecosystems and without them everything goes to shit. Coincidentially most of those that are endangered fit into that description.

My cat has urinary blockage and I literally can't afford the vet. What the FUCK am I going to do? I tried to palpate his bladder and he did pee a little bit but he's already been back to the litter box twice.

Tell the vet your financial situation. They are usually very sympathetic to caring pet owners and will give you a discount and let you work on repayments.

>getting a pet you can't afford to take care of

why do people do this?

66 years ago, our world was populated by giraffe-sized quadrupedal stork monsters.

Thank god these things were killed by the meteor. Can you imagine being swallowed by one of these creatures? It would be like the infamous "pelican eats a pigeon" video...but with YOU in the role of the pigeon.

So my ex-roomies had a baby and left their cat, who I practically raised from kitten, in my care.

They then came back while I was working and got more of their stuff but left the back door open and she got out. Now her paw is messed up and I can't afford to pay to fix it.

I tried a gofundme but so far (even with my own $$$ contributions) I haven't gotten much exposure.

Any ideas?

try getting a credit card, payday loan, beg on craigslist, spam your gofundme, or beg the vet?

good luck. fuck your ex-roomies though, they sound like trash.

Hey /an/
Anyone know what could be wrong with my leopard gecko?

I've had him for over a year now and he hasn't been eating the past 6 months. I've tried crickets, meal worms, even wax worms and he won't bother.
I couldn't find anything online. I hope someone could help

Here's a less shitty pic of him. He's been getting so thin and I'm really worried
>>
>>2275984
Please, please!! Take him to the vet, dont wait more anon!!
>>
>>2275984
Maybe he has cryptos he's going to die soon if you dont take him to the vet..

My dog will not stop chewing on her foot. The vet has said that there's nothing wrong with it besides the raw spots she keeps making, which she licks and nibbles on until they start bleeding. We've been cleaning the wounds regularly and bandaging them up too, but it doesn't help because she can still get to her leg even with a cone (plus we suspect she's starting to eat the gauze as well." The cone is also a problem as she refuses to adapt to it. The stucco is coming off the corners of the walls because she repeatedly rams into them, the entire family's lower legs are bruised because she bumps us, and she regularly clears off tables and knocks over decorations with the thing. We've tried playing with her until she gets tired, as it might be a boredom based habit, but no matter how much we play she goes right back to trying to gnaw her foot off. This has been going on for a couple months now, and I just see no end in sight. Do you guys have any clue what might solve this, short of either lopping her leg off or getting rid of her?

try any sprays that taste bad for dogs?
>>
>>2275907
I've tried one, yes, but it doesn't work for too long and I think it might actually sting and hurt her because of the wounds.
>>
>>2275902
Take your dog to another vet, and get a 2nd opinion.
