Do you like games where you have to wander around collecting things, or do you prefer progressing from level to level?
>>3961508
I like games in general.
>>3961508
I like big open levels where there's more to do than just wander around collecting things.
>>3961508
I like Kazooie because you can for the most part collect everything in one go. Also the areas all had a different look so you didn't get lost
Tooie requires you to collect more and more useless abilities to collect jiggies from up to 4 worlds before. Using the TerrydactyLand Taxi Pack in the Mayan level is a good example.
So I just recently got myself a Gameboy Player and I wanted to know what titles are worth picking up.
I already have Tetris, Warioland, Super Mario Land, Small Soldiers, and Fortified Zone.
Pokemon and the Mario titles are a no brainer.

I highly recommend The Legend of the River King and the bell frog thing one.
>>3961110
my favorites were castlevania 2: belmont's revenge, metroid 2, legend of zelda links awakening, donkey kong '94
What is /vr/'s thoughts on Buck Bumble?

The title theme is the most infectious song ever and god help you if you ever wind up listening to it, because it will stick around for a long time.
I find it a little too hard for its own good.
did you hate kids who bought stupid mario games when they could have photorealistic games on the SNES? makes me think of the indie faggots of today
>>3961043
Why would I hate that someone else had different taste than I did? What a horrible way to go through life...
>>3961043
I think I'd kill myself if I was like that.
>>3961043
I only want to have fun, photorealism in a game is not a requirement.
Are there even five good games on this piece of shit?

>five of which are only technically even games
More than I have on my PS4.
Hardest nes game?
Silver Surfer.
>>3960532
That's bullshit hard, not actual hard.
inb4embetter thyself
>>3960804
My gut reaction would be to tell someone to stop wasting their time on it rather than encourage them to keep playing.
Which reminds me, /vr/ doesn't talk about a lot of games like Space Ace or Dragon's Lair or Night Trap. Oughtta' fix that soon.
Can someone help me solve this mystery? My version of Duke 3D doesnt play Grabbag, it plays some song with a female singing in it, starts off with a weird oriental intro, then guitars, then the female vocals but i cant really understand what she's saying
>>3960296
Are you playing the Chinese version?
>>3960301
Nah, its a version I got a long time ago from somewhere. Probably had it over 10 years. If there was a way I could record it so you could hear I would
>>3960312
also the init screen says version 1.3D
Is there any actual strategy to this game? It seems to mostly be an illusion. You have tons of options but no point making any exotic teams. Using the default weapons will get you through the game.
WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!
>>3959609
front mission? It is mostly grinding. That is every JRPG.
>>3959609
FM3 is a mistake, FM2 is much better, go play that.
So I have beaten Ninja Gaiden 1,2, and 3 in the past 24 hours and then I just now completed the entry on Sega Master System and man, why is this one seemingly forgotten? I think it is the best entry in the series by far. It has none of the jewry like sending you back multiple stages, spawning enemies on screen in a loop, limited continues or any of the other stuff that just felt plain broken in the others.
So it's the most casual Ninja Gaiden?
>why is this one seemingly forgotten?
Because it was released on a console that was only popular in Yurope and Hueland late during its lifespan.
>>3959367
This. It even has a "kill everything on screen" move that you can spam infinitely.
No wonder Australia-kun prefers it to the NES entries.
Setting up a Launchbox collection and I need some retro games where you kick the shit out of communism anything from the 80's to the PSX era is good.. What are some good picks?
>>3959143
console only?
>>3959158
Literally anything. I just need to fuel my patriotism boner since Berkeley
>>3959214
oh ok
just off the top of my head there's red alert allied campaign, sniper elite and communist mutants from space
No streets of rage thread? Streets of rage thread.
On streets of rage 1, blaze's jump kick takes 15 frames to come out. Adam and Alex jump kick only takes 3 frames to come out.
Why is blade's jump kick so shitty?
>>3959136
Blaze is love. Blaze is life.
I want to fuck Max Thunder
>>3959136
perhaps to compensate for the fact that she is clearly much better than the other two characters.
or maybe its because she's a girl.
B.O.B. man
I had to stay in a children's hospital for really long periods when I was growing up. They had this little repurposed supply closet with a playstation and a super nintendo. If you were good you could have 30 mins of playtime in there, once or twice a week, depending on how many other kids wanted in too.
I don't even remember what they had for the playstation, but for the SNES they had B.O.B. and I played the fuck out of the first 3 or so levels. I always restarted because I couldn't understand English yet and I don't think I'd ever really bumped into games with password saving then
I hated being there and all the people there but playing this cool game with big sprites I'd never seen anywhere else was a welcome escape. I loved all the quirky animations of the robot MC being crushed all small when he fell and climbing along pipes with just his fingers
I got it for the MD a while ago and yep it's still pretty shit. I don't think the version differences account for much of that. It's just kinda slow and basic as shooty platformers go. The death animations and cringy 90's 'tude are all that's really going for itand I love it
do you have similar affections for games you recognize to be kind of garbage, /vr/? please share your stories
>>3958860
sonic adventure
Tom and Jerry, average platformer, not really horrible but it has a huge difficulty spike in the 3rd world and the controls/hibox aren't the most friendly. Still I replay this game once in a while for nostalgia's sake, it's very short when you know what you're doing. Also knowing you can do a higher jump.
I also like the music, even though it's just 2 really generic MIDI organs and nothing else, and just 2 tracks during the whole game, I still find them charming.
>>3958860
BOB isn't a shit game, though.
it this a good one /vr/?
It looks like a mockery picture made quickly in flash.
NOT RETRO
FUCK OFF
>>3958675
It is, actually. However it feels like one of those '90s PC games. Graphics are a bit too pceey

tekken 3
No matter which game he's in, cpu Ken will always do this
Do truly random enemies exist in any game, or is there always a formula that determines their movement?
For example, speedrunners have found that the number of seconds on the clock when you clear a level in Super Mario Bros. determines where the enemies will load in the next level.
Is anything TRULY random, or can everything be exploited?
>>3958551
No. Computers can only generate pseudo-random sequences, unless they have a true source of random numbers, like a geiger counter.
Everything in videogames is pseudorandom
>>3958551
>speedrunners have found that the number of seconds on the clock when you clear a level in Super Mario Bros. determines where the enemies will load in the next level.
I'm confused. I've been playing that game for 20 years and every time the enemies are always in the same places.
