Most of the games we play are the exact opposite of meaningful exercise.
What can we do to add some physical activity to what would otherwise be several hours of sitting around?
5 pushups every time you lose 1 life in Magic?
10 squats every time you make a strength check? 5 for every attack roll?
Using giant 30lb dice?

>Theft is a significant problem at large Magic tournaments
How do we fix it--permanently?
>>54288601
Well, first we need to answer the question if we can isolate Magic tournaments from the rest of society well enough that fix applicable there would not be disrupted by outside influences or if to solve the problem there we need to solve it globally.

Sup /tg/, I just got kicked from a game on Roll20, because of different play styles. I want to know if you think I was being a That Guy.
>Join game a few sessions in
>Be fighter. Told them that I'd be True Neutral with Criminal background, so my character would suggest ethically grey strategies for their pragmatic value. They accepted me knowing this.
>It's Curse of Strahd, level 2, down in the basement of Death House. Up to this point, apparently DM had Strahd appear and tell the PCs to continue into Death House because they tried to flee.
>Other 3 players are extremely skiddish about combat, and don't want to loot any treasure in the dungeon. They go to extreme lengths to avoid combat. The cleric is also against taking anything we find, either treasure or gear. She says it's because she thinks it would cause us to "fail Strahd's test" (DM plot point, apparently).
>In character, I argue that these things are useful for us, and keep it anyway.
>We sneak around dungeon, avoiding confrontations.
>Get to final room, aggro boss monster. We flee, hide in the next room.
>I really want to fight.
>I metagame and come up with a strategy for how to fight. GM chides me, I apologize, and lay out the same plan in character this time.
>I lobby for confronting the monster. Other PCs reluctantly agree after a while. In hindsight, they prob thought I was pushy.
>Find monster, fight it, win. I'm the only one who was in any danger, tanking the whole time and getting trounced. They kept me alive via heals and dealt damage from afar while I "distracted it" by dropping to 0 hp every turn. A shitty showing on my part, but it kept the team alive. Monster rarely attacked them.
>Finally win, they pull me out of coma #4, and they're actually genuinely pleased at their victory.
>End session.
>Later, GM messages me, says I'm kicked for different play style, no warning, and blocks communications.
Was I being a dick? Should I have been more willing to avoid confrontation and ignore treasure?
>>54287730
Sounds like the gm was just being a faggot. Seriously if you're playing DnD why just run and hide from everything?
>>54287730
From the information you provided (I'm going to assume that it isn't the full story.) it sounds like your GM was a dick for doing that.
>>54287805
I understand playing it smart by wanting to avoid certain confrontations and being wary of cursed items and such, but I don't think that's what they were doing. I think they just didn't want to get into fights and didn't want to take anything.
>>54287820
I tried to include all relevant details. I'll admit I was being pretty pushy for fighting. I didn't insult anyone though, and tried to keep my arguments grounded in-character (aside from the meta-gaming strategy after we aggro'd the boss monster). My guy was a big tough thug half-orc who worked as a gang enforcer. It would make sense for his character to be belligerent and willing to take treasure found in a hostile dungeon.
I actually really liked the tension between my character and the cleric, it made for interesting roleplaying. It was Curse of Strahd, it's supposed to be scary and tense, and having light party disagreement adds to that tension.
Anyway, if the PCs didn't like me, it was likely for that reason, that I wasn't willing to run from every fight and leave behind perfectly good gear. It's not like we were in a village and I just started robbing NPCs. We were in a dungeon occupied only by monsters. Who am I wronging?
So /tg/. What is your excuse to not knowing about the exploits of kommando Shepurt?
>mass effect universe, but all humans are replaced by orkz
>Kommando Shepurt becomes the first ork spectre and sets out on "da normandi" to find the biggest fight ever
>Hes joined by the weirdboy Kadun, burnaboy Ash and flyboy Jokka.

Why does no one here know of this?
Seems right up /tg/s alley.

We're too busy going on dates with hot women.
Ohh yeah i remember reading this thing a few years ago.
Is it still going?
Does /tg/ prefer a game that's rules-lite or one with lots of crunch?
>>54286013
Rules-light, if we're talking about RPGs. They aren't wargames, and too many rules get in the way of cinematics, improvising, and quick gameplay. Plus, any decent GM is going to end up tweaking things to fit his group and his campaign, and a rules-light game gives you a better foundation to build upon, where they don't have to worry about any change they make having a bunch of unforeseen consequences.
>>54286013
Rules-light for RPGs, crunchy for boardgames (euros are literally the best boardgames ever mande).
>>54286013
Hard to make an absolute statement either way. Rules light games are fun, they're often quick and simple to play and learn, but they can also lose my interest real damn fast, without some good crunch to hold onto. Some rules light games transcend this, but those are the well designed examples which actually use a light set of rules to create a compelling experience, instead of just having a few barely there generic rules and acting like that's a virtue.
Crunch is also not good in and of itself. I love games which have crunch that does a lot of work, where the complexity adds a lot to the experience and the game as a whole is able to become more than the sum of its parts. This tends to entail focused design and putting the complexity where it matters.
Systems which just make absolutely fucking everything pointlessly granular and complicated, even when they aren't interesting or relevant, bore the shit out of me.

How do we reclaim Stromgarde, /tg/?
>>54278952
Isn't it populated by level 40ish mobs? Should be a walk in the park for a couple of level 60 city guards.
The whole level system of MMO's like wow is perplexing when you really think about it. I mean, most of the early to mid dungeons already contain powerful regional threats like powerful wizards, liches, and evil druids, yet going by the numbers a few level 60 grunts or night elf archers should be able to take the whole dungeons. Even weirder, there are wild animals like wolves or bears that could take on the whole defias brotherhood.
Nuke it from orbit.
Or a passing zeppelin.
>>54278952
>On the edge of territory controlled by a legion of the undead who can recruit from any losses Stormwind takes
>City is literally a ruin with no population, and no kingdom that can restore it
>Filled with criminal scum and ogres
>Heir to the throne is undead and serves the Banshee Queen
>Cosmic threats (Legion, Old Gods, Azshara) besiege the world to the point no forces can be spared for a serious effort to reclaim the city
Shits fucked, can't be reclaimed as a proper city without beating the Forsaken and the horde out of Hillsbarad, Gilneas and Alterac so they can't make a counterattack that could retake the city. Stromgarde basically needs a full on war with huge victories across the continent by the Alliance to be reclaimed and kept secure. Re-populating should be relatively easy though. Just settle human veterans, sell of land for cheap and allow Alliance races to immigrate and the city can be rebuilt fairly quickly. Not anything like the old heights of what was once the mightiest of the human kingdoms, but not bad.
For real, what kind of moron would suggest that the Lankhmar stories aren't swords and sorcery? Stat the ridiculous creature.

I bet you're one of the fucks who uses the discord too.
So for the past like, year, I've been using a very simple no spell level idea for magic system. I originally intended for this to avoid the problems of quadratic casters, but in the end I had to use a linear growth of spell power alongside spell slots, meaning the same effect still happened. Plus, it made spells more boring then in normal D&D since every spell is the same.
With this being said; can anyone give suggestions of how to add in spell slots to a linear, even/odd leveling system that doesn't require a table or too much math? For the record, I want leveling to be something that can keep happening potentially forever, up until epic level adventures and beyond since the rules are simple enough to support it. But I also want them to be simple and intuitive.
For the record, the current system is this;
>Ever EVEN level get +1 spell slot
>Ever ODD level starting at 3rd level get +1 spellpower
How would you include getting more powerful spell slots instead of more spell power in this method?

Splice shit together;
Crab-lizards

Avian-cephalopods
Dinosaur people that uplifted mankind.

That scatter laser is a hell of a sustained fire weapon. But can the the Defense Gunner just sit behind cover and let the platform shoot line of sight? And is the no save modifier on scatter laser a misprint?
Also, lets keep the Necromunda fighting to a minimum. Both sides have valid points.
