Spooky wilderness filled with small towns and people from a shitton of different countries who have no idea what they're doing here. There are loads of old ghost towns scattered all over the place. Lots of haunted caves, lakes and bogs, tucked away and nameless. There particularly large, viscous mundane animals that might threat adventurers, some of them are unusually smart.

Adventures range from Twin Peaks style occult mysteries on the edge of settlements to old-school hexcrawls deep into the north.

When travelling through mountains the GM should track where the sun is throughout the adventuring day. Mountains can block the sun and effectively make the day shorter. The GM may designate shapes to the mountains to determine the kind of shadow they cast.

This can make natural cold even worse. Hateful mountains may cast intense cold through their shadows even in warm months.

Over days of travelling in the mountains these shadows can plant a deep and dreadful sorrow in travellers, opening their minds to all kinds of unwholesome influence.

Creatures of the night (intelligent predators, demons, the undead, spirits...) will take advantage of these shadows to hunt those who would assume themselves safe in the daylight.

Do not track time for the players while travelling through the prairies. Each phase runs into the next, the players must actively record their time in the plains. If the players ask or an encounter occurs roll to determine the time of day.
