Whats the point of carrying that little pot around if you're outside?

Whats the point of setting up your pouches and little pot if you're just going to block the light and ruin the picture?

Whats the point of chewing tobacco if it makes you look like an inbred hick?

is snus allowed? this is the brand i always go for when im in Sweden or Norway

fun story.
>kayaked to Aspholm with group
>tiny as fuck island in Norway
>ahh shits cozy, i think i might have a snus
theese are strong as fuck and literally makes me dizzy, so its a treat to take in apropriate situations
>laying up on the cliffs enjoying life, nicotine high as fuck
there was this kind of pier thing
>get called down to the pier
>someone dropped the bowl of a trangia set in the water
>waters crystal clear but the waves are distorting it. feel slightly nauseous
>people are expecting me to just kinda step in and handle it for some reason
>almost feeling like im gonna fall over into the water
>crab my buddy Sorens shoulder, tell him to get 2 kayak paddles
>he gets the point, lies down and uses the two kayak paddles to fish up the bowl
fun times. id had been years since i´d had snus last that time so the sensation of looking into the water and the dizzyness i felt was new.

I live in a nogunz state and am wondering how I could get into hunting. I just buy a gun and drive somewhere? It seems like all land is owned, do you have to ask the landowners? I have a hunting liscense from when I went with my dad, but he had a few friends who owned property. We rarely go to go though.

What is a "nogunz" state? I know some states have some restrictions on some types of guns, but aren't basic hunting rifles and shotguns allowed throughout the USA?
Anyway, every single state in the US has some public land. A lot of people don't realise it or think of it this way but, that's your land, you own it along with every other American. You can hunt there, the problem comes in when a state only has a little public lands but a lot of hunters. Come opening day of the deer rifle season it looks like a pumpkin patch for all the guys out in orange.
This leaves you with a couple other options, you could try archery (also helps with the nogunz bit), there are a lot less hunters, longer seasons, and they often coincide with the rut. As for private land, different states have different laws, most require owner permission but some allow hunting unless the owner has posted a sign saying "No Hunting" or "No Trespassing." If you do go for landowner permission be sure that you act like a gentleman. Close any gates, clean-up after yourself, offer the landowner some of the meat, etc. If it's a honey pot bit of land you can even offer to work for hunting rights, maybe mow the owner's lawn through the summer.
As for starting out hunting, despite already having taken a hunter's safety course it will pay to do it again, a lot will be old material but there is always a portion that specifically addresses local hunting laws, this will help you stay legal, understand zoning and tag regs in your area, etc; plus, if you take the full live class (as opposed to the part online ones offered in most places) you will get to meet a lot of helpful hunters who can give local area advice.
>>
>>967648
You need a hunting license. To get one, most states require you to take a hunter's education course.

im /out/ constantly on account of being a hobo

however my existence on this board is a meme so i guess im meming it up too. best of both worlds.

So... /pol/ is considering crowdfunding an entire island. Currently we are considering one in Chile. It's quite far away from everything. It's surrounded by the Pacific ocean and mountains.

On a survivalist perspective, what would it take to make a successful settlement on the first days?

Here is the place. Lot's of fishing, it's land is fertile, lots of wood, and all.

http://www.privateislandsonline.com/islands/isla-san-pedro#

Thanks, /pol/ out!

Oh, my item.

In a few years I'm going to be inheriting a house with some land, fairly large, out in the country.

I want to start a commune.

I'm a fairly withdrawn person. I hate most people, and most people hate me. So I want the commune to be selective. But I don't want it to end up like a cult.

I want log cabins, with septic, and wells. There will be a power grid. Internet is available. I want most of the food to be grown. I also want a few acres set aside to grow firewood. I expect the things to be built and maintained to be done by the residence. Everyone should have their own cabin and garden plots, plus a communal building and garden.

I don't want (regular) outside visitors.

I have a humanitarian side to me, and want to take in homeless people. But I expect most have mental problems, and might mess everything up.

Also kicking people out could lead to problems.

I'll expect income from farmin (crops, animals), and by what talents the residence might have to sell (wood carving? vetenary?)

My goal is for a full and happy and productive land, thats still green, that is profitable enough to buy and attach more land to expand.

Any thoughts or tips?

MGTOW general Think big edition

Tiller is an unincorporated town in Douglas County that's nestled on the banks of the South Umpqua River, about 30 miles east of Canyonville and Interstate 5 along Oregon Route 227. The town sits at an elevation of 1,020 feet, and is surrounded by the Umpqua National Forest and Bureau of Land Management lands. It's about an hour from Crater Lake, and 24 miles from Seven Feathers casino.

The town gets an average for 40 inches of rain each year, and about 3 inches of snow. The July high temperature is about 84 degrees, and the low for January is 33.

Not the outdoorsy sort? Tiller also has potential as a future location for a hotel, resort or restaurant.

28 tax lots, making up more than 250 acres.
Multiple domestic and agricultural community water rights.
Nearly a mile of waterfront along the South Umpqua River and Elk Creek, including launch access for boats.
Approximately 2 million board feet of merchantable timber.
Tiller Store, a general store that's not currently operating, but includes a deli, a commercial kitchen, a gas pump, and an apartment.

Recently I tried kayaking and camping with just a hammock set of matches and a coat in 30° weather.

It was miserable and I realized I couldn't sleep in that temperature. The only things that kept me comfortable was all the man made stuff.

Does nature just suck? Going /out/ seems only as good as the gear you carry.

Is there such a thing as non-man made gear?
>>
If man-made gear is out, we might as well assume society at large is out. Us being here to shitpost on a Taiwanese trail running forum is evidence that yes, living outside in nature is possible. Or was at some point when there was no alternative.
>>
>>967565
OP, you had a sucky time because you went /out/ unprepared for the conditions you were facing.

You don't have to have the latest and greatest, fanciest gear but you need the essentials. Whether you buy them or make them or whatever.

Our ancestors got just as miserable as we do if they didn't have adequate shelter, insulation, sun protection, etc.

I am new to bushcraft and camping, but i really love it. I have all of the equipment i need, except an axe. I had a hultafors 3 1/2# 32" felling axe, but broke it last month. I want to get a smaller axe, big enough to drop small trees, but smal enough to do fine woodwork/carving with. I am thinking about getting a 23-30 inch axe with a 2- 2 1/2 pound head. What weight/length would you reccomend, and what brands can you reccomend?
