how much does an entry-level used dirt bike cost?
>>961012
I bought my first street legal dirt bike for 2300, but if you want an off road only bike, you can get one for about 1500. Yamaha and honda make very reliable and extremely low maintenance trail bikes

Is it ok to cliff dive on an empty stomach and does weight/height matter? (I'm 5'1, 104 lbs)
How high is too high for a beginner?

I was hoping womanlet, aka a spinner
So, as title says, I need a cheapish 20 litre or thereabouts backpack.
It's for work, so I can have a waterproof coat, a drink, a bit of food and pens, etc in.
Basically a version of a womans handbag, but bigger, for a fat, sweaty balding British guy.
Any recommendations? Less than £30 ideally - it doesn't need to be particularly strong etc. And ideally not in camouflage colours.
>>966206
MOLLE = pussy repellent.
Avoid milsurp/military style shit that's of a style less than 2 decades old.
>>966206
If you're not particularly worried about it being bomb-proof and don't want camo-style shit, just get on Amazon, search "canvas backpack," set your price limit and buy whatever catches your fancy that has 4.5+ stars.

>"Game2: Winter will strand 30 contestants in the -40F (-40C) Siberian wilderness for nine months with the surviving winner receiving a $1.6m prize. It will stream 24/7 online."
>“2000 cameras, 900 hectares and 30 lives. Everything is allowed. Fighting, alcohol, murder, rape, smoking, anything.”
Why didn't you participate?
>Contestants will each sign a waiver acknowledging that they might be raped or killed but the rules also state that police are free to arrest anyone who commits a crime on the show. “You must understand that the police will come and take you away,” the rules state. “We are on the territory of Russia, and obey the laws of the Russian Federation.”

National Parks thread? I wanted to ask you guys about Sequoia. Was wondering where is a good place to camp (for free preferably) and which trails are good for day hikes and aren't high traffic.
I'm planning a road trip in May from Minnesota. Still debating on hotels or tent camping or using our pop up camper.
Minnesota -> Teddy Roosevelt -> Yellowstone -> Grand Tetons -> Custer State Park, South Dakota -> Minuteman Missile National Historic site -> Home in Minnesota
Any thought or suggestions /out/?

If you were comming to the PNW I would have been able to help. But your not so..
Here is what you're going to have to do. Your going to have to:
>find out -state by state- which states you're visiting allow dispersed camping.
>find out which agencies -state by state- manage the land that dispersed camping is allowed on.
>find out which parcels of land managed by which agency are near where you want to be in each state.
>Go camp
Most BLM land and a lot of DNR land allows dispersed camping. Also there is lots of USNF land that also allows dispersed camping.
>>964591
You can camp anywhere you want in SNF. My buddy and I camped next to the South Fork Kings River every night.
Wasn't sure which board to post this in but I guess its technically outdoors.
In this thread post some ideas for amazing gardens according to your taste. When I have my own property I want to make a beautiful garden that captures themes from all over the world.

When I'm old I want to trip balls in my garden universe
I'll honor my Celtic ancestors with three standing stones.
I am getting kicked out of my dads house because i caught him doing meth and he is embarassed. I have a credit card with a $2000 limit and i plan on maxxing it out and just living in the forest. I live in a warm environment and I have a honda civic.
Things I own:
2014 Honda, Sleeping bag, knife, 100oz silver, vape, warm jacket, macbook, two-man tent, camp stove and a pot, MRE's for 3 months, life straw, a job where i do not have to shower, 50 feet of paracord, toiletries, ibuprofen, flashlight.
Can you think of anything else i need?
>>963907
A set of testicles
>>963908
i am not interested in sex
>>963907
Don't max out your credit card, it'll bite you in the ass in the future.
Been a while since i've seen an /out/ story thread
Post your own, or someone else's
I'll add to this when I get home later tonight.
Dumping some spooks, as promised
going camping today. using my shitty gmc envoy 2wd to go off roading. going to be going to superior dry lake near barstow. Thinking about smoking a joint with my buddy, closing our eyes and just walking the entire 5 miles length of the lake bed, eyes closed, in the dark. From there thinking about heading up the 395 to get to the Alabama hills in lone pine Ca. gona go rock climbing with absolutely no gear and experience. R8 my trip.
Have fun dying m8
>gona go rock climbing with absolutely no gear and experience
Good luck with that
Rated breddy gud. Lone Pine area is fanfuckintastic. The entire East side is badass, if the wind isn't going crazy.
I'm sure you know, it's going to be butt cold. Bring extra sleeping bags.
What First Aid supplies should be brought on a camping trip?
in case your heart stops you should bring a defibrillator
hyperbaric-chamber if you have decompression sickness
Some hand sanitizer and bandaids of various sizes. Cravats or cravat like pieces of fabric for slings, swaths, splints, and possibly tourniquets (but that last use is a big stretch). A mylar emergency blanket. Just those few things should cover most of what you're likely to run into.
It's really a lot more important that you know what to do in an emergency than that you have a pile of high speed medical shit. It also depends on the trip and what kind of resources you have, of course.
>this might be a classic but i'm relatively new to /out/ and camping etc in in general
what food do you guys take with you when you're on a trail for a week?
>>964757
The same food I eat at home.
>>964757
my fishing pole with a few extra hooks, along with a canteen cup generally covers all my food and drink concerns.
pasta
flour (bannock)
peanuts
Hey outists, I need you to help me design a raft for use on a big, slow-moving river. I have some limitations.
Use of logs is out of the question. I'm doing this in a mangrove swamp, and I don't want to damage trees more than absolutely necessary. Sticks only. This means I'll need something besides wood for buoyancy. I need to make pontoons. There are several ideas I've had for this:
-I've seen pictures of boats made out of soda bottles. I probably couldn't lay my hands on that many soda bottles, but I could buy a dozen gallon jugs and duct tape them together. I wonder how many I'd need to keep me afloat?
-half a dozen 5-gallon buckets, with lids duct-taped on, would be perfect. Don't think I'll be able to source these from anywhere, though.
-Inflated black plastic bags (the ultra heavy duty contractor bags). I hate entrusting my life to anything inflatable, but I'd use maybe 8 or 10 of these, and if I hit a snag only one or two would pop. I could even cover them entirely with duct tape.
The bag solution is by far the easiest. But how do I incorporate inflated bags into a raft? I can't really picture it.
I was thinking about this today while listening to a John Buchan audiobook and one phrase jumped out at me: "To go on one's knees before Providence and ask for trouble"
I'll have access to all your basic hardware store materials and tools. Tarps, duct tape, rope, nails, axe, saw...
Get two tarps, sandwich inflated trash bags between them, stitch together at grommets. Build your twig raft on top.

Try scouring ditches for old tires. They're super durable and also pretty buoyant, though inner tubes would be a better option.
Also education background and pay.
