Hello, this is my first post on /n/
Recently my bike's tire was punctured while I was riding (a fucking radio antennae left on the side of the road penetrated right through it), so I need to replace my bike's back tire. I was going to replace the tire with the tire from my old bike, but I noticed the tires on my old bike are 26 x 1.95, and the tire that needs to be replaced is 26 x 2.10. Is that slight size difference okay or do I need to have the exact same size?

tl;dr can I replace a 26 x 2.10 tire with a 26 x 1.95 tire?

>>
>>1050340
TL;DR yes

Longer answer: 26" refers to the tire diameter. 2.1" or 1.95" is the width of the tire. A rim is designed for a specific diameter of tire, but will fit many different widths. The 1.95" will fit just fine.

(more properly, in almost all cases a 26" tire refers to a tire with a 559mm bead seat diameter (the part that sits on the rim). Yes, 559mm != 26". That's an even longer story)

Thanks for posting this OP, it's neat to see the slo-mo version.

Note that the tires have their own rebound dampening effect that combines with the suspension.

There platform screens and gates. Simplified design like bars and lifting fences beats nothing working.

Sup, /n/.

So I got into reading about stitch-and-glue wood joinery, and long story short some friends and I are making plans to build a plywood boat and attempt to cruise down a river for a bit on it.
Most of what I have questions about is strictly /diy/, but I wanted to come to you guys with questions about what sort of boat we want to make.

This would be carrying ~3 people down a calm (hopefully) river. We'd prob rely mainly on the current, but if a small motor could be found cheap enough that might be incorporated. Ideally we'd have some sort of tarp/frame setup to provide some shelter if it rains or if we want to moor up and camp over night.

I know very little about boat hulls, would we want a flat bottom or round, or have a keel? how wide/ long would be sufficient? I was thinking a 15 or so foot craft, but idk how big it would need to be to support 3 persons/supplies.

Not really asking for anyone to supply exact dimensions or anything, but some basic recommendations as to shape or style would be much appreciated so that I could start finding appropriate plans online to start building.

There seems to be a decent community of boat enthusiasts on /n/ so hopefully some of you can offer ideas?

Pic vaguely related, seems like a kind of decent design for what I'm looking for, maybe scaled up a bit.

>>1045468
If you mostly want to drift, I would just make a flat bottomed barge type thing for ease of construction.
>>
>>1045570
Yeah I was thinking a flat bottom would be significantly easier to work with. Is there a method used to calculate the weight capacity of a boat of a certain length x width x depth? Ideally I'd build it so it can carry 3 people plus camping gear and maybe bikes, and do so while being as small as possible

The oldest train model still going in my area is actually my favorite. They are phasing it out now and I'm sad about it. Im not sure if they still have them around, but as of a few months ago there was still one line using them i think.

No aircon [for passengers]. There was a scuffle a decade and a bit ago though so the cabs have it and it's so good that drivers have to wear long sleeves in summer.

>have an electrified high-speed rail line connecting chicago & milwaukee that consists mostly of private, double-tracked right-of-way
>let the company fail and sell it all for scrap money
>50 years later, Amtrak & Metra dodge freight trains over 2 separate lines to provide the same rail coverage at a fraction of the frequency and speed
11 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>1046652
and yet your electric train set is still a bike trail.

there's a reason for that. find the electric trains. find state-run trains.

public trans doesn't work without huge government subsidies. there's not much money to be made carting around broke-ass losers like yourself.
>>
>>1046668
But if people had been able to stomach the idea of government-subsidized rail a decade earlier, we could have had a single, dedicated rail line for Chicago-Milwaukee service, instead of subsidizing both the UP North Line and the Hiawatha to serve the same market.

Thanks for the post, OP. Really made me think.

Now take the MILWpill. The de-electrification and abandonment of the Milwaukee Road's pacific extension will go down as one of the most heinous corporate conspiracies in American history.

We are all aware of the multi-track drifting meme, but what is the technical term for this type of railway operations error, and what are some real-world examples of it?

I'm really just wondering when they'll announce that they're stopping production. I think the gap at current production rates is coming before the end of the decade and cutting production could undercut the program's operating income.

The 747-8 isn't really in a better position. They only thing is has going for it is a recent large order from UPS and the possibility of a rebounding cargo aircraft market. But it's ultimately screwed as well.

it is an visually ugly plane, i agree with you, and goddamn im not an airbus guy either. but im not glad its not selling. its still a majestic thing and that alone makes it beautiful.

im "working" at one of the biggest airports nearly every day, and watching an A380 take of is a glorious sight everytime.
>>
>>1043937
It's ugly I guess if you prefer speedy fast looking jets, but it's like watching a giant flying cruise ship when it takes off. It's pretty fucking impressive, and the fact that it looks so fucking heavy and massive and ugly makes it all the more incredible watching it lift it's bulk off the runway.
