A bit aged in terms of the writing style, but very brutal. Junger must've been pretty badass too because he never really admits to fear in his situation and seemed to enjoy the conflict somewhat.

A storm of shit, as the title says

It should be the most popular book written by a soldier of WWI. But no, All quiet takes that cake. All quiet on the western front was written by a soldier who served for literally less than a month on the western front. Juenger however, served from 1914 til the Kaiserschlacht in the middle of 1918 sustaining multiple wounds. Yet he dosen't seem to bitch about the war for paragraphs like the best of English and, for comparison, Remarque who write all quiet. Overall Storm of steel is truly the superior WW1 memoir.

Pevear and Volokhonsky translations for all.

1) Brothers K
2) Demons
3) Crime and Punishment
4) Notes From Underground
5) The Idiot
>>

Are they as bad as people say for Dost? Or were they good translations?
>>
>>9719836
this order is probably the best one. I might switch demons and c&p but they're all brilliant. Poor Folk at number 6 though obviously.

That reading is pretty cool and helps with loneliness and you learn amazing things and the more you read the better you get at it. Your comprehension of the subject matter goes up, your vocabulary increases, you get to share interesting things you've learned with friends and family and get to use the knowledge in meaningful ways in your life.

Business idea: why don't we give each other five-star amazon reviews on the crap we have written?

Novels, short stories, crap erotica.
Five stars for everyone.

Post link using pastebin (with expiration) to avoid leaving traces.

Which version of the Bible did you read?
Did you read it to understand literature better or for religious reasons?

The King James Version, because then I can read passages like the following with a booming and authoritative voice:

>WHAT HAST THOU DONE? THE VOICE OF THY BROTHER'S BLOOD CRIETH UNTO ME FROM THE GROUND. AND NOW ART THOU CURSED FROM THE EARTH, WHICH HATH OPENED HER MOUTH TO RECEIVE THY BROTHER'S BLOOD FROM THY HAND [...]!

It's also very accurate.

An Italian translation.

Both.

Is the Authorised KJV (Oxford World Classics edition) as accurate as the KJV? I'm not that versed on the Bible but I want to read an accurate translation with notes.

>le woman is an object and men are the subject and it's funny because 'woman' is also an object in this very sentence too and 'she' is the subject of a passive clause hehe so witty! Yasss! xD

In other words: she meant nothing of substance.

My Father has all these Pynchon novels but when I obviously asked him wether he has also read "Gravity's Rainbow" he solemnly stated he never even considered picking it up.

Is this some joke that I as a non-Pynchon reader don't get or what did he mean by this?

Am I the only one here who hates to read but really wants to write? Like I'm not interested at all in consuming but I do want to produce for this story I wanna tell. It's weird and admittedly pretty stupid

You read to gain experience: They give you a voice, influences to absorb, and nuances to adopt.

You can definitely become a writer without having read many books, but you can't expect your work to come out as "acceptable," according to most standards. Virtually everybody is already a writer, but the difference between a good one and one who does it out of necessity is night and day.

Think of it this way: It's like if a musician tried to create music without listening to music himself.
>>
>>9718372
Follow your intuition.

You're bound to get frustrated attempting to write and end up reading anyway. Doing things organically will show you exactly the problems you need to read about in order to solve.
