All the recent attacks had me wondering - did terrorism exist prior to the modern era (pre-WWI)? Is it a new 20th century phenomenon, or were there things that could be described as terrorist incidents before the 20th century?

Given that counter-terrorism tier 1 special forces didn't really exist until WWII, how did countries and militaries deal with terrorism pre-1900?

What would be the equivalent of a 9/11 in the Roman/Greek times? They didn't have jet liners or skyscrapers back then...

it only started when governments realized they could make their citizens cower in fear and accept insane draconian laws by using the terrorist bogeymen as excuses.

Old single shot rifles don't get enough love. Why don't companies build new rifles with older single shot actions? All we have today for single shot rifles are just break action rifles and some bolt action rifles.

Is this stars serious? Does he actually fucking think a Jericho is worth more than 2 nice Luger p08s?
You can get a Jericho 45fs for like 500, yeah it's Iwi and not imi, but that's the same fucking thing just one letter is different on the gun.

I want to make a gun broker account just so I can tell this prick off and call him a fucking moron.
No one will be dumb enough to buy this, NO ONE!

Hello /k/,

Thinking about exploring the AK world; owned only a few ARs until now. So far, I've got it down to one of two options.

The first is a Lee Armory Battlefield Pickup (a Romanian military surplus parts kit build on a US 4150 Nitrided barrel and a Morrissey Receiver). Pic related; the fit and finish look to be pretty good; the receiver has the little details like the extra "Y" stamp on the left side; the trigger is a Tapco G2; lastly, the barrel is threaded for a standard muzzle device and the gas block maintains the bayonet lug.

On the other hand, I can get a Romanian SAR-1 rifle. The primary advantage of this rifle is that it's a original Romanian hammer-forged chrome-lined barrel on a Romanian receiver. (Some say that the Romanian military used this model to train recruits before graduating up to the select-fire MD63 variants, but I'm not 100% sure on that.) However, because it was a ban-era gun, its muzzle is unthreaded and the bayonet lugs have been shaved off. The seller says that the front and rear sight blocks are straight, but the finish looks to be your typical rough parkerization.

I can get both for roughly the same price ($650 shipped). Which of these two options would you recommend, and which do you think will hold its value better?

(Also, I live in CA. So either way I'm stuck with a grip wrap and cucked 10-round magazines. I'd like a Kalash, though, for the ability to dick around with a side rail optic down the line, rather than an SKS.)

Sup /k/omrades, Yuropoor here.
I got this ammo from my grandfather as a gift together with a Taurus revolver.
My question is if anybody knows if they still make this, since he probably got this somewhere in the 60's, 70's. I checked out the company and its still running just now they are making defense systems, some pyrotechnics and some metal working. I'm just wondering if anybody has some info about it.

Assuming the hostile occupation of the U.S., how would /k/ outfit and lead a resistance movement? What tactics and weapons would you outfit your group with if it consisted of 24 people including yourself? The enemy will be a modern military army with patrols and shit to weed insurrection out. You have a $1,000 dollar budget per person for all weapons armor and supplies and all equipment must currently be legal.

Is there any possibility that developmental versions or early examples of weapons like the SKS, AK-47 or M60 ever saw extremely limited and unofficial service in the Korean War or final days of WW2?

Could be. There is a rumor that SKSes used in Battle of Berlin.

Something makes me think this guy has caught a time traveler in the act
> examines old photos of WW2
> notices an M60, almost passes it by except for
> hey wait a minute, whats that doing here
> hmm maybe its just a prototype

The M60 didnt come until after WW2 because it was designed in principal based on the (MG42?) but with a reduced fire rate.

The AK-47 was inspired by the STG-44 but it doesnt share any components with it. Also by model name it did not come out until 1947 and I believe it was kept a secret from the rest of the world for a year or two.

The 7.62x39mm round Was designed during WW2 in 1943 I believe but the rifle it was chambered for, im not sure if that was the SKS or its predecessor (im too lazy to check wiki right now)

The SKS did come out before the AK-47 though, I remember that fact, and also they never would have made the SKS if the '47 was first.
