Hey /k/ommandos, I'd like to get into archery here in California so I have something to keep me sane until I'm done with university, my Kar98 is back in the fatherland so I have to make due with something I can legally own (I'm here as a student) and I want to maybe get into hunting with a bow. I'm wondering if anyone has experience hunting with bows that they'd like to share, from small to big game, and if anyone knows anything about archery hunting laws here in California. I'm trying to look around the net but info is scarce and obscure, I'm going to call some places eventually but it'd be cool to hear it from one of you guys.
Also, I'm buying a Gorka-3 outfit and I need some good outdoors boots to slap on my feet. Preferably something that can handle a good bit of hiking. I've been winging it with clothes not really suited to the outdoors.

Bought my first AR-15. Its basic, from PSA. Typical magpul stuff for the grip, handguard and stock. Basic fixed front sight and magpul rear flip sight. A2 flash hider. mag release, BCG, charging handle etc.
What else should I get or do to it?
Extended mag release? Shooting finger is short, machine accident took the tip. Those larger charging handles? Fore grip? Light mount?
Idk what even works with this odd magpul stuff.
Which scope? Strikefire or spitfire or the sparc?
I just dont want to spend hundreds on this but I do want sheap and/or essential upgrades.
Where do I get cheap quality mags? pmags are like $14 everywhere. I dont see steel in my stores too.

I went in as a 35M. Definitely recommend the job. Did one tour in Iraq back in 2007.
The job is definitely fun. I got attached to an infantry unit (BCT from 3rd ID). You get to run around doing grunt shit with the added bonus of still being a PIG.
As far as getting denied your clearance I didn't hear or run into anyone who got denied their TS going in. There were some dudes who got it revoked after several DUI's. When/if you do get denied you got recycled into needs of the army which meant at the time I was in was either 88M, 11B, or one of the 13 series.
