I feel bad for selling mine last year for $375. Was a good sale price at the time but they're going up.

Also, I've considered making an 80% but I imagine it would take up to a year to get ATF approval. Been working on some alternatives though. Essentially the lower is nothing more than a piece of polymer with a very simple FCG.

I do have some rudimentary plans involving converting a Suomi stock and trigger assembly into a Tec9 lower, but it's something I've been just toying with.

What is this blasphemous contraption and where can I get one?
>>
>>33459904

Wouldn't be that hard. People have made aluminum lowers for Tec-9's.

It's a good platform to build on because it's really simple. In fact, the Tec9 upper can be fired without the lower.

Really? I thought the platform was dead since it's been out of production since '01.

IIRC, uppers aren't the serialized part, so they can be sold aftermarket.

closest thing ive found
>>
>>33459966

Yes. There was a company making billet's a few years ago (http://www.akfiles.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-208265.html) and there's a guy on Weaponeer who built one a while back but I can't find the thread right now.

Keep in mind that people also have parts because the frames crack and depending on the location, you can't always weld/repair it
>>
>>33460021

That's true.

>>33459994

Weaponeer and WeaponsGuild are your best bets. HomeGunSmith has informative shit but they're mostly fudds over there.

>>33460023

There was a guy who had many of these for years at $15-20 apiece. Bought them when the company in NC went out of business. However, there is a difference between AP-9 tube and Tec-9 tube so parts aren't necessarily interchangeable without some fitting.

AP-9 magazines are also through the roof for factory ones with clear followers, however by trimming the magazine release you can convert it to use tec9 magazines, or make a notch in the tec9 mags to use on the ap9

Pretty simple platform to work on. I have an affection for ghetto guns

Mine has been pretty nice. Very reliable with the factory mag and the barrel extension. I got this one for $250 and it came with 3 factory mags, original barrel extension, original manual, and original case.

>dat cucked sks with the missing bayo
why must they deny us our right to put a pointy end on our shooty end?
>>
>>33460366
I am in the process of locating a replacement. That SKS is a strange one. the "SKSS" model. came from the factory with a 16in barrel and a shorty pig sticker bayo.
>>
>>33459919
Did the lewis gun ded?
>>
>>33460139
You know, if you shorten the front and get wood grip panels it would kind of look like a C96 if you got drunk enough
>>
>>33460186

No jamming with 115GR 9mm ammo. That is the ONLY thing you should be using in these. Even the fucking factory manual says as such.

Kellgren originally designed this for military contracts in mind, so he designed it with standard real fucking NATO 9mm in mind.
>>
>>33460411
>>33460366

Result of late 80's California gun control laws and Bush Sr. import ban. Many of the SKS's you see with missing bayonets are the result of this. IIRC Shotgun News offered repair kits
>>
>>33460503
Mine isn't missing a bayonet, I took it off because the old one is bent to hell
>>
>>33460503
>repair kits
Does that cover the ones with the bayo lug milled off?
>>
>>33459772
Really the biggest reason why the TEC-9 jammed so much was aftermarket magazines. For some reason, the gun just would not work with anything but factory Intratec magazines.
>>
>>33460531

I think there was a guy or two that offered such a fix at one point. Shotgun News used to have a lot of odds and ends dealers but it's dwindled in recent years.

But mostly these were bayonets so people could unneuter their SKS's

There was an entire industry created after the import bans though, but this is the case for any gun control law.

Ex: we have Raven/Jennings/etc because the Gun Control Act kept a pawn shop owner from buying cheap handguns and he told his friend George Jennings, an aerospace engineer, who decided to make a cheap gun to provide to his buddy.
>>
>>33460568
IIRC, all those saturday night special manufacturers in Los Angeles were all owned by Jennings' family or close friends.
>>
>>33460564

Well, kinda. Pretty much all aftermarket mags are made/have been made by National, and they're not exactly a top-tier company.

http://www.buymymags.com/

Though I really want one of these just because:

http://www.buymymags.com/24k-tec-9-50rd-9mm/
>>
>>33460598

Yes. And Jimenez (which is still in business) is owned by longtime family friend and former Jennings Foreman Paul Jimenez, who outbid an anti-gun group by $80k. The anti-gun group was going to destroy everything but Jimenez saved it from destruction. The guns are made in Nevada now and come with a lifetime warranty, no questions asked. Better value than Hi Point nowadays IMO. They've done a lot of QC improvement in the past decade.

Another fun fact: Jimenez's distributor is owned by the Jennings family and they probably funneled the money to allow him to buy the assets, which I believe was in the $550-600k range over a decade ago.

>tfw /k/ could have pooled all of our savings up and bought a gun manufacturer.

>>
>Being a TEC-9 enthusiast is suffering.
Everytime there is a thread of these people hate the damn things cause they're cheap. They had some nice features to them even if it was poorly implemented.
Why is every SMG sized pistol carbine doomed for failure? Bigger than a pistol, smaller than a full sized rifle always gets super cheap mass manufacture then banned for being crap. The only nice ones cost more than a full sized rifle that's more useful. How does this keep happening?

I blame the NFA. An sbr is a lot more appealing to practicalfags than a bulky pistol that does nothing special.
Though, if it wasn't for lolumbine the TEC-9 might still be around because muh scurry babykilling salt pistal was a reputation that it already had, which combined with being tied to a particularly infamous tragedy is probably what sealed its fate. (Intratec closed 2 years after.)

Why are tubeguns so niche now? There used to be quite a few in the 80's/90's, but it all just stopped for some reason. Closest you can get is a MAC.
