Carrier landings take lots of skill and are hard is a myth,
You never have a crosswind and you never have to flare.
You've got FOUR fuckin wires. How can you miss?
I can't think of anything that's easier than this.
You have to have autism to land on a carrier
I know because my autistic friend was the only one who could land in Top Gun NES
The problem is that fuckups are immediately fatal

You ever been on a boat before? It's not like it's sitting still in the water. Oceans have currents and waves. You ever try moving a vehicle when you can't see what you're doing? I don't know what the cockpit view is in most planes but there is no way you can see a whole lot under you or how much space you have from you to the back of the plane. You could be off by a bit didn't get a straight run in, came in too fast. There seems like a ton of factors that would make someone retry a landing a few times until they know what the thing is capable of.
Will normie grunt marksmen ever get their hands on SCARs or are they gonna be forever stuck with M110s, Mk. 14s, and SDMRs?
Why would they? M110s have identical manual of arms to M4a1s and on par performance to the SCAR, so there's zero gain to giving the SCAR to them.
What's wrong with the M110? Is it something inherent to the ar-15 design or is it just bad quality of these particular rifles or what?
M110s are the B.E.S.T marksman rifle, they spit 308, hold 20 round mags, have their own giant suppressors, and quad railzzz
prove me wrong
Lets say we have two cartridges, they share the same bullet and the same amount of propellant but the other one is necked down to the bullet and the other uses a discarding sabot. Lets also assume that the added weight of the discarding sabot does not matter.
What differences in muzzle velocity and chamber pressure would these two cartridges have?
>>33466060
The sabot barrel has significantly more volume for the propellant gasses to fill as the projectile moves toward the muzzle. Assuming that the barrel length is the same, and complete powder burn in both, then the sabot round will have less velocity on exit than the necked round. Lower pressure as well.
>What is with these threads lately?
>>33466095
What about with both barrels having the same volume?
>>33466123
powder has burn time, the powder would still be burning as the sabot exits the barrel, so less burned powder equals less force and less velocity
Retarded things you've thought/ heard about weapons? I'll start

> Playing grand theft auto 4 just dicking around.
> Always have a semi interest in guns
> Look at Nico's Ak. How that "weird hammer doesn't slam down at the back of the gun"
> Ask my dad how guns work
He says with that kind of gun, there's a battery where the hammer is supposed to be, and that battery makes the gun super fast and last forever.
I've gone the majority of my life believing this. Also things like
>When "M16" bullets does it's flip, there a good chance it can bounce out from the target literally anywhere (I.e right back at you, to the sides, ECT)
> The mafia used .22s for murders because the boolits would bounce around people's heads, totally not because they bought the burner gun for 20 bucks.
> There's no actual reason for a civilian to own semi automatic guns.

A thread died for this.

What the fuck is this thread even, stop.
>Retarded things you've heard about weapons
Everything you just wrote, OP.
kys
Hino Kamura pistol is a blow FORWARD pistol. You cock the gun by pulling the barrel forward. It fires by dropping the barrel back against the bullet and smacking it against the locked firing pin. The barrel gets pushed forward and ejects the round from being fired.
I fucking love it.
>>33465980
>>33465980
Im pretty sure Ian has covered a couple of blow forward designs,at any case any jap pistol was inspiration directly from western firearms.
Dreyse pistol comes to mind.
>>33465980
I can understand liking this for the sheer novelty of it, but does actually offer anything useful other than a unique action?
MAsshole here, gone full Confederateboo the past few months.
What are the best weapons representing the Confederate States? Lee Enfield 1853 is their most common rifle, but there's also the Whitworth sniper rifle, and the Fayetteville model III which was Confederate exclusive.
What are some great sidearms largely used by the South?
ar15 civil war two 2018
It's not a "Lee-Enfield 1853"; instead, call it a Pattern 53 Enfield musket. The "Lee" in "Lee-Enfield" denotes the bolt action mechanism designed by James Lee. The "Enfield" denotes what pattern of rifling is used, the rifling designed by Enfield.
>>33465998
Yeah sorry, I fucked up in another thread I made too. I've had minimal sleep so i'm not picking up on my weapons related fuck ups as easy.

Why dont school shooters use ear pro? Obviously shooting anything in a hallway would deafen you and leave you in alot of pain.

They usually have bigger issues at hand.

Would you feel safe with a 10mm auto against a grizzly?
>>33465587
I wouldn't really feel safe against a Grizzly with anything. Too many factors involved in a bear attack to make any man portable gun a foolproof method of stopping it.
>tfw New Zealand has no grizzlies or 10mm.

Not having a simiauto 45-70 only trustworthy government
Hello /k/.
I come here now and then, but since I'm swiss, I suppose I have a reserved space.
Now. The european laws are somewhat beginning to apply here, and the federal government will soon tighten up reglementations on firearms, so I think I should buy one as soon as possible.
Now, I really want a Luger 1900, if possible the mod 1906, pic related. Yes, it's a meme gun, I know, but it's actually not the german Luger (see the palm safety and the length of the barrel, and it shoot parabellum ammo).
Any tips on this kind of pistol ? What should I look for, when buying ? Can I have one that can safely shoot (I heard about modern parabellum ammo that's too heavy for the old build) ? How not to be scammed ?
>>33465520
Bump
Also does this one seem good ? It's scratched.
1200 CHF, that's like 1200 $
Modern 9mm should be fine. Lugers were designed to run with hot ammo. Good luck, Mountain Jew, the Luger is a 10/10 pistol.

>The european laws are somewhat beginning to apply here, and the federal government will soon tighten up reglementations on firearms
what?
Britfag weapons thread.
Why is our country gone full sutism with guns?
any other britfags own or are thinking about owning guns? What guns are banned that shouldn't and other stupid laws?
come on /K/ I'm having a shit day, someone talk to me.

Two incidents. The 1988 hungerford shooting and the 1997 Dunblane shooting.
We can't have semi auto over .22lr although semi auto shotgun is fine. No pistols unless they have 12 inch barrel and an over all length of 24 inches.
Other than that no caliber restrictions and no mag limits. Barrels can be as short as 12 inches on rifles and police actively encourage use of silencers.
This my collection. Had my FAC for about 8 years now. Left to right.
AI AX308, LanTac straight pull .223 (now sold), m&p 15/22, benelli m2.
>>33465506
Shit that was a newer pic than expected. Second from left is actually my LMT 308 straight pull.
I want a fireable Martini-Henry. A major obstacle to this ambition is my inability to cast 577 slugs by my self. If I bought Martini brass and some primers for it, could I load the shells with 12 gauge buckshot instead of the solid 577 slug? Will it somehow fuck up the bore?
>>33465291
It sounds like you need to learn a little more about reloading before doing anything.
What is stopping you from casting some bullets?
Doesn't a company actually make a 12 gauge version
>>33465291
wouldn't you need a .45 caliber bullet ?
