Are HP notebooks compatible and functional with Linux? Driver issues with keyboard, touchpad or anything else?
I tried Linux on a Lenovo machine and it didn't work at all. Fuck their Windows dick sucking. Used to have no issues whatsoever with Acer. But I don't like Acer desu.
>>60882976
everything works fine on my HP Pavilion 15
this probably belongs in /sqt/ though
Besides wifi with some - I haven't had problems with HP laptops
>>60882976
Depends on the models.
Professional Series are A-OK.
The cheapest models as well.
The weird commercial mid-high tier models are the ones that have weird hardware problems.
How do they always end up with weird looking versions of Windows in movies?
weird looking laptops too
>>60882906
probably just edit the video to make it look like something else, to avoid getting sued. or maybe they use rainmeter or something similar.
>>60882941
in that case, they clearly just change the icon theme
/v/ here. With the paid mods making a resurgence I totally understand why you guys abdicate for free software so much now. People shouldn't be able to modify someone else's game (or any software for that matter) and make money off of it. Ideally the games should also be available for free, but we're not there yet.
My question is, what can be done about it? Can there be some DRM that prevents the mod from being downloaded if it detects that it was paid for? I don't know how that could be done, but maybe something that checks with Steam would be enough.
Tux Racing doesnt have this problem

Is Fedora a botnet?
>>60882854
>made in USA

Fedora is pure Redhat.
Fedora being owned by NSA is meme, not necessarily true. Their software is production-worthy... but they on purpose create monolithic giant things that are hell to control so they can sell all that certs, training and support.
>>60882903
you should read up on what SE linux is
Try and defend this shit.
Hard mode: don't pretend .net is even remotely useful.
it's raising in popularity

Jesus fucking christ this is the darkest timeline.
Mono is kind or nice to be quite honest.
I keep getting the "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered" a few minutes into every game. My temps seem fine though. Thoughts?
Down load drivers. Disable windows driver auto install, DDU driver clean up to power off. Reseat your GPU. Power up, install drivers. Test again.

Is there a way to have strong, unique passwords for each of your accounts online, without using a password manager? Or do I need to suck it and and rely on something like Lastpass?
use the "horse battery staple" method and append the url of the site and the current year at the end. make around 3-5 unique combos and use 1 unique password for important shit like banking, and reuse the same one for shit like forums so you don't have to memorize 100+ passwords
you'll be pretty much immune to cracking unless specifically targeted by someone (keylogger, etc.).
>>60882451
Yes. Stop being a brainlet.
>>60882451
If you're going to use a manager, don't use an online one though.
Morning /g/
Could you redpill me on 120hz-144hz monitors
The benefits are minimal compared with cost. If you suck at 60Hz, you still suck at 144Hz.
Morning /v/
All i know is you don't need that monitors if you don't code as fast as sonic
>>60882351
Quickly move your cursor in a circle. You see those gaps? Thats because of your shitty 60hz refresh rate. Running at higher refresh rates reduces those gaps meaning there's more information per second.
That's just your cursor. Now imagine a full screen application running over twice as fast. The extra smoothness and information make games significantly more enjoyable.
Gaming is objectively better at higher refresh rates with no downsides.

>>60881904
the point of macbook is using MacOS, because it's optimized for that hardware. Torvalds uses macbook, but doesn't "prefer" it since he didn't install any Linux distro in his life, probably Apple donated that. Also who gives a shit about Torvalds, he's even aganist hate towards Facebook, a social network that makes experiments with their users.
"If you want to be free, don't follow Torvalds"
Since unlimited amazon closed and unlimited google drive do weekly banwaves, where fuck can you hoard shit in the cloud now?
