Realistically speaking how soon will prices of Ryzen reasonably drop? How much do you think the 1600 or 1700 will cost in say, 3 months or maybe 6 months?
For someone who plans to stay on 1080 gaming for at least another 2 or 3 years would it make sense to buy Intel? Ryzen seems to be a little behind in 1080 but pretty close in 1440.

Application layer: OS/Software that the user operates.
Presentation (Encryption): OS/Software that is scrambling the data.
Session: OS/Software that is determines the rules of transmission
Transport: More OS/Software that determines the rules of transmission.
Network: More OS/Software that determines the rules of transmission
Data link: This is just a MAC address....
Physical: Wires
What is the point of all this? It's either details about the data, or the hardware carrying the data. We really don't need 7 layers for this.It could easily be two. Data & Hardware. All this is, is more redundant, convoluted technical garbage, that will never be useful in a million lifetimes.

Im trying to figure what class I should take for my 1st programming language in community college. Because I registered a little late , my options are limited to C# and C++ classes.
Would it be better to start with?
Im not fresh out of high school by the way, Im 26

most personal computers had 4k of memory in 1982, C++ was not able to run on personal computers back then, even in the early 90s C++ was considered to bloated and sluggish to compete with C (John Carmack wouldnt touch C++ back then)
>>60879977
>what about switching jobs, Bjarne? Maybe you'd be way better as a physicist, or something - just, please, for the sake of everything good - don't write that crap
No, seriously, C++ is an abomination and needs to die. How tf can you make a language that's worse than C both from the performance standpoint AND the code correctness one?
What's the best browser and antivirus
I don't browse porn but I like to torrent stuff.
>I like to torrent stuff
Chrome and mse
>>60879940
Antivirus is a meme malware
You can just use ublock on a secure opensource browser.
Browser: i like k-meleon for old pcs
Firefox, and palemoon
you could otherwise use iridium browser since it is chrome with all the google parts taken out.
Torrent: qbittorrent,deluge,transmission for windows.
Do not use μtorrent the old version has security problems and the new ones have malware
why the fuck are SSD still expensive since i bought my last 500gb SSD 3 years ago with the same price as today 500GB ssd... wtf happened
>>60879482
ahhh no you didnt
Yeah, I don't get it either. I bought my sandisk 120GB ssd for $40 two years ago and they've never been that cheap ever since.
I'm guessing that the storage manufacturers are intentionally inflating the price of SSD's, because if you could buy a 120GB ssd for $20-$30 and pair it with $50 1TB harddrive, you'd have no incentive to spend anymore money on higher capacity ssd's.
As it is, if you're going to spend $60 on a 120GB ssd, you may as well go the extra mile and buy a 240GB ssd for $90.

I said fuck it and am sitting cozy in a win 7 VM using Access 2010 with no issues.
Why? Why does Libreoffice suck so hard that I have to put Microsoft cock back in my mouth after 5 years to accomplish something this trivial? Kexi fucking sucks too.

Access is shit as well, get a real DB.

Found your problem.

I was thinking of using mariadb if access didn't work well in the VM, so I guess that is still on the table if I run into access issues.

whats the cert at the end worth in the industry?
Has there been any documented cases of bad displayport cables killing GPUs with 20th pin power? I ran a card for like 6 months not knowing this bad cable was causing my boot/sleep isssues with a live 20th pin and I've been getting frequent system freezes when the GPU is under load lately.
You guys think that probably fried something?
>>60878823
That is the exact issue I have had on my RX 480 when connected through DP. The icing on this turd cake is that this cable was included with my Benq GW2765HT monitor.
One day there would be no display when using DP, but lo and behold as soon as I switched to HDMI, the monitor ran perfectly again.

https://insights.ubuntu.com/2017/06/12/ubuntu-desktop-gnome-extensions-poll-results/
The Ubuntu Desktop GNOME Extensions Poll has closed and the results are in. Canonical hosted this poll to ask existing users and potential users what they would like to see in the new Ubuntu as well as things they would like changed. The results from the poll are not finale, but we can conclude that the new Ubuntu will likely have
1. Dash to Dock
2. Better Volume Indicator
3. Top Icons Plus
4. Alternate Tab
5. Applications Menu
6. Impatience
7. Windows controls on the right
Decisions have not been made and the things listed may not make it into the final version of Ubuntu, but these will be the likely additions and changes.
You can try out the current state of the new Ubuntu experience here http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/pending/

>>60878793
Canonical is fucking stupid. Unity is better than Gnome.
